Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey, long time lurker. Love this site because I can get to it from work as opposed to the 405th which is blocked. Current projects include a shredder costume build for Halloween, a mini Iron mancostume for my kid, and at some point in the future my own cuctom Halo Armor.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

I'm arx. I'm starting out on recreation. I do mostly electronic works and boards if anyone needs an insight.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

So I've lurked here for quite some time, and finally decided to register so I could see all the cool things happening in the Junkyard. I'm a part time college student, full time Senior Game Advisor with Game Stop, and a huge geek.

My plan is to make a Kevin Flynn outfit for Emerald City Comic Con this coming March, and this entire site is a fantastic resource of knowledge and skill. I'm getting in the game a little late when it comes to Tron cosplay, and the easily moddable Identity Disc toys are all but clearenced from every place I've checked besides Ebay and Amazon, and I'd rather not pay 70-80 bucks for a toy that was originally 20-30. So we'll see how that goes. I've already found a cheap source of EL Tape, and have the patterns for the cloak (Doing his "cyber-jedi" outfit) and just need to track down a good Kimono pattern.

Identity Disc is the only troublesome part! I've been following what Canobi has been doing with the discography, and am currently catching up on the thread regarding the same topic in the Junkyard.

I've always been interested in props and cosplay, but this will mark my first project since it's the first time in a while I've had excess funds.

See you all in the forums :)

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Well, hi, this is me. I'm from Mexico City, I live here, and I'm into collecting Star Wars stuff. I started with 3.5" figures, but then I got bored of them and started working on buying replicas and lifesize stuff. This is my collection, but I'm about to get new furniture to make them all look better:

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi all! Like some here, I have been a lurker for a few months, and finally have the time to work on a few projects so why not register and maybe get some guidance from the amazing talented people on this site.

Cheers!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Similar story to many of the others. I have been lurking here and admiring the work of others. I have a background in fabrication and automotive body work so I am hoping this will translate to making some props/costumes. I am working on a Jake Lonergan costume for Halloween with the help of some threads here.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi! My name is Ben, and I'm quite new to the costume scene. I actually havent made anything yet, but I would like to learn some of the tricks of the trade first.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello All!

I'm pretty new to all this. I've purchesed alot of replicas over the years, both official and handmade, but now I'm trying to get into Screen-Used props. I'm a big film buff. Mainly sci-fi and action flicks from the 90's but I'm also a big Star Trek collector. I've found out that getting screen-used things can be pretty rough in auctions. I've been involved in serveral over the last two years and pretty much get creamed every time. I can't justify spending thousands for background props but a few hundred bucks here and there is fine. I recently got some Judge Dredd screen used props from the 90's flick which is a total guilty pleasure for me. I loved the new one as well. So I'm always on the lookout for any screen-used Judge Dredd stuff. I am, however, always fasicnated by the stories of what happens to some of the most famous movie props and have spent hours reading them since finding this forum. I've got better pics on my linked YourProps.com listings but here's a quick one of some of the new stuff I've got.

Hello, my name is Christina. I am a So Cal transplant now living in the DC-MD-VA area. I have been lurking these boards and Dewback Wing A.S.A.P off and on since 1999 when I was on a quest to make Obi-Wan's lightsaber and costume from TPM. I have attended San Diego Comic-Con since 2004, but don't cosplay since I run around a lot to panels and on the exhibit floor. I do enjoy dressing up for Halloween though. Two years ago, I put together a Marty McFly costume to commemorate the BTTF 25th anniversary.

As far as props go, I mainly specialize in collecting lightsabers. I made a couple back in the day with my father using sink pipe tubing, pvc, etc. One based on Obi-Wan Kenobi's from TPM and the other based on a personal design. I also own an EL Parks Sabers Inertia and adore my custom LED saber with Plector Labs sound I had machined by Random Sabers (Vision) Over the years, I have collected almost all of the 0.45 scale Master Replicas lightsabers (not including color variants).

I am officially joining the forum this year because after years of putting it off, I have finally decided to put together a NuBSG green BDU costume for Halloween this year. Due to time constraints, I am ok with not being able to make the most accurate version. So far, I've purchased the tank tops from ThinkGeek, dog tags off Etsy, and finally found an affordable FN Five-Seven airsoft gun. Just looking for a belt and holster now :) I look forward to sharing my progress and joining the discussions here.

Hey everyone, my names Matt. I'm currently living in the CA central valley, I'm 25, and I'm currently majoring in comp sci.

I found the RPF when I was looking through tutorials and info on how to go about building a suit of ME3 N7 armor and decided to join because of the huge amount of talent and breadth of interest I found here. The N7 is going to be my first build, and my materials should be showing up within the next few days, so hopefully I'll be able to start posting about my build soon.

I look forward to getting to know everyone and learning as much as I can!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello,

I must have missed this thread the other day so my apologies.

I've lurked here on and off and it time for me to stop being a creep and be more social! So here I am.

cheers,

Jason

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello - I am Boinky Siwinski

I have mainly bought Star Wars replicas for the last 10+ years from both ICONS back in the day & later from Master Replicas.

I was also a victim of ICONS, one of many. I paid them for an Aliens Pulse Rifle & Han Solo Blaster shortly before the guy behind it took the money & ran.

Hmm oh and I also bought a Star Trek phaser replica from Master Replicas.

I am not good at making things really, so I never tried making any replicas myself. I am more gifted with words & somewhat computers than making physical things with craft.

Hi

Hello all. After lurking forever I finally joined up. I am just getting into collecting and am really looking forward to sharing with this amazing community!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Greetings Foolish Mortals,
Originally from San Francisco, I am now Scott from Boston, a current Art Director and Disneyland junkie. I have a love for all things vintage Disneyland, not Disney World. I love the Haunted Mansion and collect vintage Disneyland stuff. My collection is quite large and contains Walt's original frozen head, not the latex version floating around SoCal. In 2000, I had dinner inside Disneyland's Haunted Mansion (the greatest night of my life), and was given my own custom tombstone. They were arranged on the front lawn when we arrived; and when I returned to my hotel, the tombstone was sitting at the head of my bed. Very cool. see pix...Anyways, I look forward to chatting with many of you. Thanks!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey there everyone,

First of all, my name is Shane, I am 28yo, from good old Windsor, Ont, Canada.
I joined the forum back in May, but I have just been a wanderer, checking out all the awesome builds, and talented people here. I have always enjoyed building models, and making things in general, but I really jumped into this hobby starting out in the Horror community, painting Jason masks, I made a few Freddy gloves, and I made a few costumes. It has started progressing from there, and I am working my way through my first Iron Man Helmet, and hopefully going to try and tackle some other builds. This definitely seems like a place I will enjoy. Well, I will see you guys around the forum.
Thanks!
- Shane

Hi! I'm new! :D I was guided this way by several friends. I'm very excited to see the ideas and props that can be found here!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi everyone!

My name is Jeffery Douglas. My interest in props began like many here, probably: Star Wars happened and I began making Super 8 movies.

Approximately 15 years later, I co-founded Dead Earth Productions, a San Francisco Bay Area company that designed and produced horror-based live-action roleplaying games set in the 1920s and 1930s. The greatest production design challenge for these events was creating period-accurate props that could be picked up and examined by the players and survive the encounter.

Additionally, we ran an Effects/Prop house, producing make-up and special effects for independent films. Of note, we worked with White Wolf Games creating articulated werewolf rigs as well as various other appliances for Rage, a trailer project for the then-new collectible card game; and most proudly gaffed, gripped, boomed and created props and effects for The Dark Sight, one of the shorts in Tales of the Ackermansion, a horror tryptic hosted by the mighty Forrest J. Ackerman. As happens all too often though, neither of these projects have seen the light of day (to the best of my knowledge).

Dead Earth Productions was a non-profit venture, meaning we were unable to make a profit, and thus folded in the late 1990s.

I've been an RPF lurker, off and on, for a looong time and just recently became re-engaged by the outstanding quality of the builds represented here. They are both inspiring as well as daunting!

I haven't been able to sustain myself via my creative desires and, unfortunately, my corporate life has kept me from participating. I'm attempting to shift some life priorities now, so hopefully that will change and I'll have something worth contributing!

- JD
