re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello,
In accordance with suggested policies, here is a brief intro. I've been referencing The RPF for a couple of years for prop and costume tips and suggestions. There are a lot of really talented people here. Once upon a time I had hoped to work for ILM's model shop (RIP), but that didn't happen, although I did briefly work for Lucasfilm in a capacity that allowed me to visit the model shop and ogle some of their fantastic work. Recently I've been collecting a few prop replicas and I soon hope to have the space and resources to start making some of my own, so I figured it was time to create an account and start getting involved. Mostly I like simply collecting and putting costumes together, but there are some that I probably can't complete without building some of the components myself. It is my pleasure to join the community.

hello
A friend put me onto RPF as a good reference point for costumes as I have already undertaken a number of them for short films I have made.
After a look round the site this arvo I am really impressed with some of the quality here, and the support from other members is great to see.
Ill be keeping an eye on the junkyard also.

Like it.

Hey guys, long time reader, first time poster.
Ive always seen cosplayers and gone, DAMN i wish i was that creative, then one day ive realised, wait, i am pretty creative. So this is my first time i thought i would give it a go. First cosplay will be Thor, and making his helmet at the moment, see how i go. One of my friends who is a big cos-player who makes everything by hand told me that a lot of the cosplayers buy their stuff, but i thought, you know what, thats not me. I have an eye for detail, and am a bit of a perfectionist (in my own head).

But yeah. Pleasure to finally be here. Everyone here has so much talent!

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey guys and gals! I've been lurking around here for a bit, and decided to finally register. My main area of interest is Star Wars, and I'm a member over at TCSS and FX as well. I had a respectable collection of stock FX sabers, but sold most of them to fund another project. That project would be my collection's shining centerpiece: a CFv5.6 equipped MHS saber built by Jay Gon Jinn! However, now that I've got the custom side of the saber realm covered, I'd like to expand to the replica side of it, specifically those sabers of the OT (Graflex, MPP, MkIII, etc.). Oh, and I'm also working toward a Rebel Legion costume entry for a generic Jedi costume, so I'll keep you all updated on that, too! :) Anywhoo, thanks for letting me join!

Hi everyone,

Not so new since I joined last year but I have been pretty inactive for awhile and figured a re-introduction was in order. I have been interested in costuming for awhile now and last year I attended NY Comic-Con in my first Spider-man Costume. I am in the Navy and love anything comic/videogame related and thats why I enjoy this site so much, the wealth of information and help you can receive here is outstanding. So looking forward to another year and hopefully some new suits.

Hey everyone,

I just registered on here last week. I've been sculpting on and off for about 10 years now. I finally got back home and have been fully committed to sculpting and mask/prop making for the past 3 years since getting some help from some great instructors. I really want to make this into a career, and hopefully coming here and getting advise from you and hopefully one day being able to start selling stuff here would be just awesome. Being active duty in the Navy takes up a lot of my time during the weekdays so I can only work for a couple hours a days on my stuff, and then put in the long hours on the weekends. I' will be posting some of my work up pretty soon, and I hope you guys enjoy it!

Hey everyone I'm from New Mexico, and I have a huge interest in art as well as prop making and sculpting. MOst of the costumes that I have made are all peiced together from stuff that I have hand crafted or boughten but I am on in the process of getting my own equiptment to be able to create everything from scratch, so anyones help is highly appreciated.

Hey everyone. My name is Cam. I've been costuming for a couple of years through other forums but I was recently turned to this forum as my interests in different costumes grow and props grow.

I'm a huge fan of Star Wars, BSG, Star Trek, Stargate, Firefly, and pretty much anything sci-fi. I'm glad to be here and am going to start poking around and learn from the very skilled people of this forum.

Cheers guys.

Hi everyone, Anthony here

Haven't done much in place of props. Im currently sitting on a Bioshock Big Daddy costume I made, Along with the syringe little sister used.

And Im about 80% done with a Velociraptor Im making.

Its around 5ft tall and 9-10ft long

What would be the proper forum to drop pics and give a little more detail

Long time lurker, first time joining up the forum. I'm just a movie fan that enjoys the creativity I've discovered here. There are so many talented people with great ideas that I was inspired to attempt a build of my first costume. Still not sure what, but perhaps a foam stormtrooper armor set. Great site, awesome info, thanks for reading.

Hello All,

I was describing some custom armor to a guy at work and he suggested that I join this outfit. I am pleasantly surprised to see so much on this Forum and will be a delight to look through it all.

My first project is trying to create some pepakura files for a D3 Demon Hunter Armor on the left arm, but making it for my right arm. Looks pretty simple :: last sad words :: and plan to look through the forums to see how I can later on make a molding and casting for it.

Thanks

Hi Everybody! My name is frank, and I ran across your marvelous forum by accident. I was looking for ideas on Halloween props and found this link, and now I'm hooked! I didn't realize it, but I am a (very) amateur prop maker already. I made some Q&D (quick and dirty) hand phasers for some friends Halloween costumes out of old garage door openers and Radio Shack parts about 20 years ago, and have made a couple maps within the last several years. I even have some movie replica's squirreled away somewhere, and you can bet I'll be digging them out. My thanks to all who make this forum possible, and I am blown away by all the talent I've been finding. Just amazing!

Hello Everyone,

My name is Joe and I live in Wellington, FL.

For a while now I've had a bunch of "projects" so to say in the back of my mind. Mainly I would like to have a nice collection of helmets in my office. Iron Man, Magneto, a Power Ranger or two etc etc. I never really knew where to start and was referred to this site by a friend.

I am currently building a Commander Appo for the 501st Legion which has been a lot of fun as well as challenging at times. Im also learning a LOT!!

I'm also working on a Tusken Raider and a Jawa for the fiancee. A few of my interests are Star Wars ( obviously) as well as Marvel and i also enjoy Hockey.

Can't wait to get started on some helmets. I think my first one will be Iron Man after Im done with my current projects..

In closing I must say I am overwhelmed and impressed by the talent I've seen in just a few hours of browsing around here. I hope to one day learn how to mold something and start making things myself. Until then I will continue my research and hope to be able to reach out to people.
