re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey guys,

Thought I would say "Hi" based in London, work in the film industry.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Saying HI. I found this site, while searching for "Judy Lost In Space". My daughter is going to make an outfit, like Judy's. She is going to the Megacon convention in Orlando.
Someone here, made a NEAT outfit, and I saw a picture of it.

that's it.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hiya. My name is Brandon and I'm a student in High School right now.
I found out about this forum after reading the VolpinProps blog.
I'm a real amateur with little to no experience building props, but I'm really looking to learn.
I mostly signed up on the forum so i can see what other people do and learn from it.
To this date the only real replica prop i've made is a pair of Sam Fisher's Goggles from splinter cell with a green glow, which i was pretty happy about.
If anyone has tips for a newbie, i'd be glad to listen.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi all,
I only found this site a week or so ago through a fellow Home Theatre enthusiast here in Australia.
I'm an Industrial Designer by trade, and have had several years employed as a professional Modelmaker, building everything from static models of landscapes, Architectural designs, through to prototyping, scale models, TV props etc. Been a few years and I think I've forgotten more than I remember! :wacko

Anyway, great to be here and my first 3 projects intend on being a HIC, Yoda and Boba Fett helmet. I'm an avid SW and general Sci Fi fan. The other project I'd love to tackle is a full size T2 Endoskeleton. All in good time I guess...

Would have loved to become involved in the Lightsabre contest, but I found out too late.

Cheers,

Chris

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey-found this site from Adam Savage's Maltese Falcon talk. What a fantastic place!

Hi! I wish I would have found this site sooner!

I am a collector of Iron Man and Star Wars items. I have a Mark IV and a War Machine helmet, an ESB Vader helmet and soon I will have a Ralph McQ inspired Helmet.
I am eager to see what everyone here has contributed. I have seen amazing things so far!!

We can make printed vinyl decals

A friend was wanting me to make him some Nuka Cola decals to put on a bottle. So I went seaching for a hi-res pic to make it ffrom. It seems someone has already done that but on paper.
I make vinyl decals and printed vinyl decals.
So if anyone is needing something just let me know.
Thanks,
Carl

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi all,

I'm Greg, I'm in Tasmania, Australia. I've been a member on the Brotherhoodofthebat, and The Cave for many many years. I've been mostly into Batman. I've frequented this board many times over the past 5 or 6 years but it's never been a good time for joining (closed memberships etc). I've put together 3 complete batman suits in the past 2 panther suits and 1 begins, and I'm putting together a TDK batman suit at present.

In addition to Batman, I did own a full daredevil suit and working stunt cane (nun chuck version), a full Darth Vader Helmet replica (I think it was made by a member here) and other small props, however until recently my interest has never gone any further than putting together batsuits until Iron Man came out.

The Iron Man suit has really got my interest up. I've organised a helmet through a fellow batfan, but I'm going to try the pepakura method for the rest of the suit. I have little to no skill (experience) in this area, so will mostly likely fail many times before success, however I'm going to stick with it and see what I can do.

Looking forward to sharing failures and hopefully some successes on the board.

Greg

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello everybody. Been a lurker for a while on the forums and well, after attending my first con in ....15 years or so, I had a pretty decent time and at this point plan to go again. Problem is, I enjoy building things and after seeing the reactions and praise for my first ever attempt at a Dr. Who costume (that was rushed even!) I think I have the creative bug again. Would be easy in a sense if I wanted to just dress as a Doctor, but what fun is that?

I currently live in the Midwest region of the US. Not sure how long I will be here since my job ends the end of Feb. or so. Always enjoyed Sci-fi and occasionally collecting it but it's just not the same as a honest built from scratch accomplishment so now here I am 1 year away from the next planned con and I have a huge project ahead of me. Been reading the forums on how to make items and I hope I can figure out how to make a Cyberman. I want to do some mods not in the show, but just for entertainment value. It's amazing what you can think of when driving 6 hours back from a con. with friends.

Anyway, hopefully I can contribute at some point and not just be the person asking. A huge thank you to all the contributors who have taken the time to share their information. I know I would be in the stone age without the internet and the help of others.

Greetings All,

Well kinda new here. Was introduced to this site, by a close personal firend, Cenobyte. I wads always interested in props, and armor and such. As a collector of mainly Star Wars, I have collected some props from MR.

Look forward to doing what I can to help others out, and maybe find some parts along the way for a costume/armor I am working on in the near future.

Thank you again!

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey everyone. I stumbled upon this site three different times by coincidence so I thought I should register. I first found this site after trying to find the boots that Adam Savage wore in a Mythbusters episode. Anyway, I am a movie buff and always wanted the things I saw on screen. I recently herniated 2 discs in my back and had to give up my hobby :)cry) of break dancing. Since I have been pretty much bed ridden I figured I needed a new hobby. My first goal is to make/find all of the totems from Inception. I thought that I would start small. It would be awesome to be able to make the machine that produces the dreams, but that is a little out of my league right now. I am also trying to make exact replicas of The Life Aquatic clothes. Blue Jacket, Red Beanie, Adidas with yellow laces. Anyway, I am glad to be here and hope this leads to a fun hobby.
Peace.

Hello everyone, my name is Damien and I'm from Wisconsin. I'm 25, and I steampunk Nerf guns as well as build cosplay items for myself as a hobby. Job-wise, I'm a bit of a jack-of-all-trades as I've done everything from being a low-voltage electrician to heavy equipment operator to tow truck operator to owning my own independent video game store. I was referred to the site by Blind Squirrel Props' blog, and so far I've seen a lot of great stuff that's inspiring me for more projects.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello all. I have always loved movie props and in my quest to find more I ran across this site and fell in love.

Ultimately, my goal forever has been to make my own hoverboard. Wow is all I have to say with the information that is available on this forum regarding hoverboard making.

My questions are...starting out and being a complete rookie, is there a good place to start when getting into prop making? Where is the best place to start my education? Modeling? Software? Casting? Molding? And where is the best place for step by step tutorials for people like me?

I think the most amazing thing I have seen here is the Hans solo carbonite replication. Man....that is so cool. One day, i want to be able to do that but need some help getting started. Thanks so much!

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello All,
New Member, Long time lurker. Im a movie fanatic and lover of all things prop related. I have been know to cobble together an item from time to time.

My current project is making life size versions of action figure accessories from an old toy line known as Major Matt Mason.

I love all things Trek and Star Wars and watching some of the builds from this group have amazed and inspired me. I am proud to be a member.
