re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Recently joined after deciding to do a Tron Legacy costume and finding a TON of good info/tips on the site. I don't have any experience doing custom work... my experience is with make-up and piecing together costumes from existing clothing. (see me as the 80s rocker to the left).

Eager to try my hand at this, I've wanted to for a long time.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Been lurking for a few days and figured it was time to join. I'm a huge prop collector and beginner maker. Pending funds, I'd like to get back into prop making again.
Most of what I've done so far has been Ghostbuster related, as well as some power ranger prop mods.

Hello I'm Djymm (prounced Jim), figured that in order to express my intrest in some of the costumes here I HAD to make a profile.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

I joined a long, long time ago, but thought it was about time to get back into the thick of things and start posting a bit more.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

I've been sandbaggin' since I joined a few weeks ago. I found the site while researching my dream of owning a HIC. I had no idea this type of site even existed. And it looks like I found it just in time...with the Volvo dash discovery and all.
I'm in law enforcement but have been a pencil artist my entire life. Although I have sculpted as well, I've never done any casts or molds. I'm intrigued and here to learn.

Hi all,

My name is Patrice.
I live in France.
I was knifemaker some years ago,I made some french laguioles, and especially japanese weapons elements, from copper, silver or brass.
I'm beginning with some jedi elements,a custom lightsaber and clothes.
Custom saber will have a uncutable cortose handle, and crystal chamber.
The goal wuld be to make a kind of movie about jedi lightsaber genesis, from beginning to first shut on.
I discover the movie props universe, really interesting!
I would create a lightsaber collection now!
I have find some original parts to create a ANH luke lightsaber:graflex flash and bubble strip.
I am thinking about a complete inside replica, from the well-know anakin cutaway.
I think for the diatum cell I will use two 26350 li-ion batteries together and hidden in the vortex core.
both crystals will be a 10mm herkimer and a 20mm "lemurian seed" quartz,I still have the crystals.
For other parts,I don't know for the moment,it's not easy!
Hardest will be to integrate the board(cut in half?)
Depending on how lucky I am,I would make a vader's and a Obi Wan's lightaser too, from original parts of course.
But here pommel and riffle grenade, are really hard to find!

Hi all,

Shawn here from NW Arkansas. I found this sight doing some research for a laser tagger that I'm building. I enjoy designing, building, and learning how to build things. I've not gotten into the prop building yet, but it does look like lots of fun. My two current projects are lost wax casting a silver spork and building some outdoor laser taggers for my self and kids. As I said above, I am looking for some good ideas for the laser tagger bodies. I was thinking the laser from Marvin the Martian with a few modifications for the game.

I look forward to lurking and building here on the forum

Hey All-

I've stumbled upon the site and I'm thrilled there are so many people who love the art of model craft as much as I do - and I spend most of my working hours in the digital world, working as a lighter and look development artist for feature films. Having said that, I much prefer the look of real models, especially for starships and machines, over the digital ones we use today.

I have to live vicariously through this site for a little while longer, as my garages are overflowing and there will be a move on the horizon.

Cheers - Q.Frost

Hi everybody!

I have been collecting all kinds of movie props since my childhood, as I have always wanted to feel close(r) to the films and the story they are telling. Since 2001 the LOTR have become part of my everyday life, the year when I had the first book of JRR Tolkien in hands:unsure. Since then, I focused mainly on LOTR props and replicas, autographs...
It is hard to describe to others, what makes a real fan, but I think you all have the same kind of passion. :love
My other TOP film likes are: Hellboy I&II, Troy, Kingdom of Heaven, Blade I&II, Gladiator, and films starring Sir Sean Connery, Bill Murray, Edward Norton and Sir Ian McKellen

Hello Hello
I have been lurking for over a year and figured maybe it's time I start contributing or actively learning some of the techniques that people use here.
I'm a freelance photographer and a fashion designer. That being said, many people have commented on how costumey and extreme some of my designs are. I will admit I grew up with anime and lots of sci fi movies so it might have seeped into my design aesthetic.
Hopefully I can contribute in terms of photo related questions and maybe offer suggestions when it comes to making the cloth aspect of a costume.
Here is some of my non-replica stuff I have done in the past
