re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello.

A coworker of mine pointed me towards therpf.com. What a great forum. I have just recently gotten into prop replicas after attending the Back to the Future "We're Going Back Event" celebrating the 25th Anniversary in LA. Two of my favorite films are Back to the Future and Ghostbusters. Two films that are filled with great props.

Thanks for having me.

Hey all,

I got interested in prop making when I painted and "weathered" my xbox last month. Basically I was looking up weathering techniques when I stumbled upon someones Mad Max shot gun thread.

Never seen the movie (and being a fan of dystopian type movies) so I watched Mad Max for the first time a couple weeks ago and set out on making a shot gun similar to his. Found a nice cheap $10 shot gun for a basis and this is my take on his shot gun:

Working on a screen accurate version from scratch:

Along with my Fett Helmet xmas present for a close friend of mine:

From the second I started I knew this was going to be something I love doing. (2 weeks later and I have several projects I'm working on since I have lots of free time working from home). I've already learned much from the forum and I hope to learn much more.:)

Hey Gang,

I live in Southern California 45 north of San Diego. I will be attending Dragon Con in 2011 and this event has sparked my prop/costume interest again. About 5 yrs ago I bought a Star Wars TK (FX), I have him standing in my office and I just love looking at him each day. I am a portly guy so I will never be wearing my TK armor.

I currently owe two Stargate costumes. One is the mission greens you seen them in on off world mission. The other Stargate costume is from season two of Stargate Atlantis.

I also own a the shield of Gondor from LOTR and the Helmet of Elindel.

Other than my TK suit, I just painted a added some flare to a Nerf Maverick gun for my Steampunk costume.

I love to build and paint Warhammer Miniatures and now I want to bring my passion for doing mini's over to prop building and painting.

I am currently working on a X-Wing costume for Dragon Con 2011. If any one here has any tips for me...please feel free to write me.

I am currently waiting to be approved on Rebel Legion.

Looking forward to seeing and hearing for you about your prop buliding and finds!

My The Force Be With You!

Shawn

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi all, coming to you from SoCal. I am new here but have been looking at this site for several weeks. Found it by looking for Green Lantern Rings, in anticipation of the movie. Also a friend of mine who used to be involved in Special FX, art, design, and comics, helped turn me on to this site. Personally I am a bit of a comic and movie geek so I have found all of this stuff incredibly interesting. I have learned a lot by scanning the various boards and look forward to chatting with you.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi Everyone, I found the site while searching for information on different ways to build bulky armor in relation to a project I plan on undertaking beginning next year.

It's a cool site for certain, lots of information and plenty of ridiculously talented people doing what they love.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Good day all....I've been lurking and reading the forum for the past few months. After going to CC in Chicago this year, and seeing some of the awesome props and costumes that were there I started looking around and found the forum. Thanks to some friends of mine who are into steampunk and costuming in general, I got interested in starting to replicate a few things on my own.

I've posted a request in the Costume forum for CAD files for Mark II and III helmets in case anyone can help me out with that. Otherwise, I'll be pepping my first ever helmet starting in the new year to pass the cold winter months here in Chi-town. Thanks for all the inspiration you've all given me to try this out. Time will tell if I have the skills to complete my ideas....

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi, I'm Sean and I have been looking around in the junkyard postings for replica lightsabers for a few months now, and thought I should finally post something. I install home theaters for a living, and enjoy watching movies and playing video games when time permits. I grew up on Star Wars, and Indiana Jones movies. I Have been buying a lot of Master Replica stuff in the recent years, and hope to have them on display in my theater room when I get a house. I will post them when I have some free time. I happy to be here and I'll see you guys around :)

I don't have any projects going on right now, but hopefully I'll be able to find something to work on soon, maybe post some old projects as well. Hope I can contribute some praise and constructive help to others' projects in the mean time!

New guy to the forums reporting in!
Tracy aka TK9612..aka well, you get the idea if you know me.
I live and work in Little Rock, happily married and have 2 wonderful
daughters! I was first bitten by the costum bug back in December 2005.
That lead to joining the 501st Legion...and then to a Resident Evil Umbrella Corporation Soldier... and I'm sure at least one or two more costumes down the road.

I was directed to this place by a fellow garrison member, in hopes of absorbing some good information!

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

After lurking around here and various other costume sites for quite some time, I thought I'd get around to joining earlier this year. It was about time I actually introduced myself.

My name is Greg and I've been doing a great variety of costuming since about 1975, including Science Fiction, Sca, Historic Military Reproductions and whatever suits my fancy at any particular time. I work in metal, cloth, leather and whatever else I need to in order to complete a project. Unfortunately, I never seem to get around to taking pictures very much, which I've only recently started to remedy, although many people have taken pictures of my outfits at various Cons and other gatherings. I find myself doing a lot of military type of costuming since I've been collecting for many years and it's so easy to grab things from a closet or storage box to throw together. I've seen a lot of excellent work on this site and gotten a few good tips here as well. Hopefully I will get around to posting some myself in the future.
