re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

I've been around for maybe a year, but I have a few friends on this site and they directed me towards it for some of my questions.

I've been designing things since I was young, doing costumes and props for local theatre groups and recently branched out into local independent films.

I'm a member of the Rebel Legion and the 501st Legion, and hopefully with the help of the amazing people on this site, I will be adding to my costumes in the near future. And learning how to improve my prop making skills =)

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi folks,

although I have joined this great forum over a year ago and have been silently reading all the good stuff inside, I have just noticed that I did not even introduce myself - sorry, shame on me! ;)

My name is Patrick, I am 40 years old, married father of three and am living in Germany.
I am mainly interested in Star Wars and Sci-Fi related stuff and besides the few costumes and blasters I have built up so far, I am new to the prop stuff. But I am eager to learn and do have a few things I would like to make...

Cheers

Patrick

Hi all. I stumbled across this site while looking for a green bowler hat for a Riddler costume. I'm not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing, since i've spent hours looking through threads already.
I enjoy making my own props at home, mostly science fiction, don't have to be accurate as long as they look good. Definately amateur stuff though, i'm talking paper mache and duct tape.
But i think i might learn a few things from you guys to make mine that much better.
Thanks in advance,
Matt.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello! My boyfriend is a prop-a-holic and I am catching his illness ;). Once he registers, I'll let him introduce himself fully. For myself, it probably began about six years ago. My bf got me the signed rehearsal prop from Twin Peaks where Kyle MacLachlan says "Diane....I'm holding in my hands a small box of chocolate bunnies." It sits happily in our display case with many prop replicas gathered over the years.

Fast forward to this year. In the spring, I made a costume replica for the Techhead, Kilo, from Dollhouse Epitaph 2 (Reference photo here). Later, a lot of the Dollhouse stuff went on eBay. I didn't buy the actual vest when it went on eBay (went for about $250) but I did use the info in the listing to buy the commercial vest they used. I still need to dye it black and swap it for the jacket I was using. For this last Halloween, I made a World of Warcraft costume of the Blood Queen Lana'thel (Reference photo here. I had to make a mold and cast about a dozen translucent green gemstones for the costume. So I started learning how to make molds and cast! I took a day seminar a earlier this month to learn more about it (through Smooth-On). We had a lot of fun and are energized to try more things!

So I'm looking forward to reading about what folks are doing!

Hi all!

I stumbled upon this site while researching methods for making my own Tron costume for Halloween next year. After seeing the awesome methods and ideas everyone here was using, I felt downright compelled to sign up! I've always had a fascination with building models of scifi ships or props ever since i was a kid. I channeled a lot of that into getting an art & design degree, so now with that under my belt I feel like I can really start to make some cool stuff! Still... there's so much to learn! :)

Hey guys I'm Sam Kovacs, I got here searching for the all mighty Hoverboard. I live in France, but am british blablabla. I've recently picked up an interest for the film world, CG etc and I'd love to make a short film with a hoverboard but I don't wanna buy one for an over expensive price when it won't have the same meaning to me anyways.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Okay ... I registered back in September but completely missed this thread! Hi there! :D

I'm Patrick from Houton, TX and I've been building props and costumes sincce 2006. The majority of my work has been with Ghostbusters props (I've been a member at Proptopia and GBFans for years), but I'm a fan of all kinds of movie and TV costumes and props.

I'm starting to collect information on making some Starfleet uniforms and props since my wife and I are both into Star Trek. She is very "meh" when it comes to GB stuff, but has said she would dress up in a Starfleet costume with me at conventions. :)

And that's my propping interests in a nutshell. :)

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi All,

I guess it's my turn to introduce myself. My name is Jon and I'm from Niagara Falls NY. I am an avid SciFi fan with an addiction to just about all things Star Wars. I have been building replica props for many years, starting with Star Trek TNG and more recently drawing from the Star Wars Universe. I am a 3 year member of the R2Builder's group with a functioning droid in progress (about 70% complete, and currently mobile).

I have known of this forum for the past three years, but was recently encouraged to join after discussing my desire to either build and/or commission a lightsaber build, with a member of a costuming group in Buffalo...he is also a member here. I have been studying the different types of sabers for several years, and have knowledge of some of the components involved. I'm hoping to gather more information and be able to share some of my knowledge here on the forum.

So with that, greetings everyone and happy building. I hope to talk to you soon!!

Jon

Hey there, I'm Panzer on these boards and there but you may have seen me as Vengeance on he 501st forums. As you can guess I'm a 501st member with a Imperial Officer and a ANH Stormtrooper costume. Those two are just the beginning to many costumes I'd like to have though and this forum will be a great help I feel. The RPF is always on top of things and I'm sure I will learn much from the many skilled people here. I have already seen several build threads and am impressed the accuracy and skill in so many projects. Right now the TRON costumes have my eye and the RPF has not disappointed. I just hope I can keep up with you guys. Keep it it guys. Panzer aka ID-3437

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Greetings to all.

I've been a longtime reader / searcher, and therpf has been a terrific resource.

I build electronic prototypes for the toy industry, and a few independent inventors. Anything with sounds, lights, motors, gearboxes, etc. But I'm long on electronics, circuit design, and programming and short on fabrication. (I work with some great folks who help with that bit.) The talent and techniques detailed on this site have helped me time and time again.

A million thanks to all of the great prop folks who post their projects here.

Dalek Subjugation of the Mid-West

A pleasure to meet you lot.
My Slipstream of Temporal Madness calls to arms, a Regime of Daleks
of the 2005 design.

The challenge is to have them operate "almost simular" to their
appropriate Episode, in real life, less CGI, and manned with a puny human.

Several have been constructed since May of 2007, and four have
appeared at Chicago TARDIS 2010, which laid foundation for the
most Daleks in the u.s.

Chicago TARDIS 2011....just you wait

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

I guess this would be the official "Hello", from a long-time lurker. I'm a member with the same handle of the statue, sideshowcollectors, and shadow and flame forum. I've always looked to this forum, expecially when a company was producing a bust or prop replica of some kind to get the specifics of what is right and wrong with it (for accuracy sake). Star Wars and Alien come to mind quickly. My collecting, while slimmed down as of late, is being rebooted a litlle and found some projects here that I thought would never come to fruition.

Anyways, good to be hear....and, while learning a lot, I hope to be able to contribute as well!
