Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey everyone,
My name's Cody, as my user name suggests I'm a big Halo fan, but unfortunately I joined the 405th just before it crashed and haven't been able to get on since. But enough bad news, someone on there mentioned this site and so here I am; and I must say I'm blown away with all the awesome builds on here, and I can't wait to add mine to the fray.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey everybody,
My name is Peter and I have only really done the eleventh Doctor. I want to do a Marvel Now Captain America. I also hope to see if I can do a go at a Iron Man suit. All the suits are real nice and everyone should keep up the good work.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Greetings everyone,

My name is John and I'm from the freezing north, aka Finland. For as long as I can remember, I have always been making and breaking (and then remaking) stuff. My movie prop-making interests began when I was around 11 years old. I saw Alien, and was absolutely stunned. It was the most frightening and fantastic thing I had seen. A couple of years later I got the Quadrilogy boxset for christmas. The bonus features on these dvds are probably what got me completely hooked on the art of prop making.

Sadly though, Finland really isn't the best country to be interested in this kind of stuff on a professional level. Thus I havn't been active with this hobby for years. Last year my girlfriend decided to host a halloween party. First I was a little reluctant to the idea, because even thought I love props and costumes, I've never liked wearing them myself. I decided that I would make my own costume. Earlier I had seen various chestburster costumes here and there on the internet, so I decided, I would make one myself. I kept a small diary-like "blog" thingy, on Prometheus-movie.com where I updated pictures from the different steps of the process. You could call this my first real attempt on prop-making.
I was actually planning on making a post of this project here on RPF too if I find the time for that. I'll add the link to my project to this post.

Halloween costume | Alien Discussions

At this moment I have several different projects in the planning/buying materials stage. The problem is that from time to time I can be really bad at making decisions, and this time I'm having problems on deciding which project I should begin with. I saw Iron Man 3 about a week ago and realized an Iron Man helmet could be a pretty darn awesome project too..

Everything I've seen so far on this site looks absolutely brilliant! Keep rocking!

-John

Hi Guys,

My name is Stephen. I'm a huge Movie fan, especially the comic book / superhero type. Through this and my love of Iron Man I came across this site a week or so ago after seeing some of Stealths movies on youtube. I've since downloaded some of Darkside's files and started work on the Mark VII :D

I've always been into models, crafting and electronics but never knew such detailed costumes existed in Pepakura so it is awesome to be able to mix both of my hobbies! The Mark VII will be my first costume or movie prop and I'm extremely thankful to the guys on here for putting the time into getting these files together for people like me to use.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

hi all..

my journey to get here started with an idea, my 6 year old daughter is a nerd like me.. who loves costumes and getting dressed up (almost as much as I do, lol) so my idea was to throw a Halloween party as she is at the perfect age to really enjoy it. I have nearly clocked the internet looking for an amazing costume to wear for this coming Halloween. I had my heart set on an Optimus Prime G1 costume, searching through Instructables and YouTube for Optimus lead me to other robot costumes, which lead me to IRON MAN!! lol.. where I discovered Stealth's 'The Hero Tutorials' *plug* and Pepakura. For the last few months I have been lurking around this site seeing amazing costumes/props/ideas, one after the other. Finally I have decided it was time to join. I went rampaging through Hardware stores, Auto shops Craft shops etc.. for supplies and I feel I am now prepared for my first build.

I would like to say Hi and look forward to getting to know you all as I build on my skills

Cheers

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi Everyone, I'm just getting started in prop/costume making. I found out about this place from Punished Props. I'm in the process of clearing out part of my garage to use as a shop for projects. I'm interested in building with foam, but not sure if I'm up to an Iron Man or similar costume yet.

Thanks,
Falross

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

So I guess this is where I start my time on the rpf.

Been a registered member for a while, but just lurking for the most part.

Finally going to start my first custom replica/look a like whatever you want to call it. I'm gonna start with a wearable arc reactor because thats never been done before right?

it'll be kind of a mashup of a few different build ideas but trying to do my own variation. I'll make a thread and put pics when i get a little deeper into it.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello Everyone. My name is Justin. Ive been wanting to join in on cosplay for the last few months now. I have NO idea where to start, what im doing or where to go to get the info i need. A friend on facebook directed me here so I hope to learn a lot. I have 3 cosplays in mind. Pretty much a beginner, and 1 intermediate. If i pull those off I will play around with other stuff before attempting the 3 which has a lot of gadgets that will be handmade by someone who has never made anything by hand :). Hope you guys can help and push me in the right direction to get what info and material I will be needing in the future. Thanks for having me.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello guys, my name is Mike. I'm starting to collect movie props and make my own occasionally, mostly small paper props. During research on the quality of available props, I've come across the RPF and learned to value the information and expertise on the forum.

As of now, my collection is rather small, two props are standing out though. My most valued possession is a Grail Diary (Story version) by Sarednab. Another prop I hold in high regard is a Columbo ID wallet. It has it's flaws, but still has a very special relevance for me, as the ID card marks my very first steps into replicating something from a show, and that's what has started my interest in props.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello everyone, just introducing myself.

I've been a long-time lurker, but recently decided to take the plunge and sign up.

I've been into prop-making for about 10 years, but nothing too serious. Up until recently, you'd typically find me on the 405th, TheDentedHelmet, TK560, etc.

I'm a huge Star Wars fan, but just recently became interested in Iron Man props (always been a fan of Iron Man).

Network Administrator by day, family man by night, so my time is pretty limited.

I've got experience with CNC lathes and Routers, 3D printers, mold-making/casting, Pepakura, 3D Modeling, electronics, soldering, and a few other things. My educational background is in Game Art & Design, but I am a Sysadmin and Certified Apple Technician by trade.

Hoping to make some friends in or around the North East (US), maybe throw together a costiming/prop-building party of some kind.
Nice to be in the company of others who appreciate the craft! Thanks for having me. :) :thumbsup

Hello everyone, I am new to the forum.
I write from Spain using the translator because my English is not very good.
I discovered this forum from the idea of building a scratch sandcrawler.
Surfing the net I found it.
I hope the experience is positive, and that I can teach my little creation.
Greetings and a big hug to everyone!

Hello, My name is David. I found out about this website through one of the members who is a awesome Iron Man cosplayer through a local convention I usually go to annually. I am a huge Star Wars fan and active anime watcher. I am not much of a prop builder and only started learning the basics. I hope to get to interact with you and learn some new tricks for building. Thank you very much for having me.
