Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello!

My name is Gloria. I have never made props or costumes really, but my background is in theatre.
The only two I have are my halloween costumes like this one:

I have been researching costumes and props from Back to the Future because I am planning my wedding for 11/12/13.

As excited as I am to have the number sequence, the date was chosen because Nov 12 is the date of the Enchantment Under the Sea dance... so you know... it's at least double geeky. ^_^

I have long been interested in costuming (as evidenced by my pintrest board Diversionary Habiliments ) and am excited to jump into making things!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello all! New to the home build stuff. Interested in Star-Wars( of course), iron man, Halo , etc. Never built one before but can' wait to try. I will be mainly a weekend project kind of guy with the kids so does anybody know where or have some storm trooper or iron man pepkura files that would be suitable for beginner? My daughter is wanting to be the Metroid armor for halloween. Probably not up for that yet but hopefully maybe by then. Thanks for any help.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello! I found this forum looking for Dr Who key information. :) I'm also eyeing the Blake's 7 threads with interest.

I also am working on generic Steampunk props for myself.

We should share ideas sometime. I'm working on Steampunk stuff mostly....

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi guys Im robin, im 25 and from sweeet home chicago. I was told about this site when a friend of mine asked if i wanted to help him make a set of halo armor. we did that a few years ago he went with master chief i picked carters set. I think for a first time run they didnt come out to bad but no i really want to get into making future cosplays better. And I am hopping with the community helping me out when i hit a snag i can make that happen. My next current goal is to make a warmachine cosplay and in turn help some friends make other armors so we can do a "house party protocol" thing happening. That being said I do have a question off the bat. I have a pepakura viewer on my com. but whan i have tried to look at files im always asked to download a program or a tool bar and i feel im doing something i shouldnt be, what am I clicking that i shouldn't be if someone can get back to me about this it would really help get things started. or if you have or know where i can find the files for warmachine preferably for foam, that would really be great thank you very much. happy building, and cosplaying.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi,
I'm Alex from Bavaria/Germany. I'm 24 and studying applied physics in Munich.
I found out about this forum one year ago by searching for some lightsaber props.
While searching the forum I found a lot of threads which served as an inspiration.
So I tried to make some props by myself. It turned out that this could be very frustrating. But in the end
it is totally worth it (at least most of the time). I would add some pictures but I have no camera at the moment.
So finally, after lurking around so long I thought the time has come to become a member of this great community.

PS: Sorry if my English isn't the best, but I seldom write or speak English.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi,
I'm Frederik from Belgium. 22 years old and working in a DIY store.
After seeing the new Iron Man movie I was looking to build a suit or at least the helmet.
Apparently i was not the only one with that idea :D.

I'm currently using the pepakura file's from Stealth but it's harder than it looks...

Any way, on this forum i'll find all the info i need :).

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello awesome RPF community.
I love what you guys are doing here and I want to be part of it.
For the past five years I've been painting and showing my art in galleries but I think it's time get back into making. I hope I can make some props with a quality that nears the great talent I've seen so far. Keep up the awesome work guys, and girls, it's truly inspirational.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello All! Indigobob here from sunny Kentucky!

I love costuming, Halloween was always better than Christmas for me!

I have a rebel xwing costume, just not the orange kind, no I went with a Wraith squadron gray stealth suit. Unfortunately, most people think I'm cosplaying Galactica LOL.

Gonna try my hand with a rocketeer build up, I will need lots of info on how to put this beast together.

Hope you guys can help a geeky geezer out

Peace

Hello all.
Found this site by being a member of the UKG. In the process of making my first build which is a snowtrooper from empire strikes back. I live in the south east of England and work for a well known ferry company. Hope to be able to use this site to get more ideas for costumes and maybe make a few friends along the way.
All the best Miles

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi, I'm Tim.

I've been lurking her for a while now, and I think I finally joined about a year ago. About time I made a introduction post!

I think I found this site either while working on a hidden blade from Assassins Creed, or shortly after discovering pepakura. I think I was working on the blade, which after 2 somewhat working larger prototypes, I was finally making the final design that I would be making a mold of. While looking through YouTube videos of people with their blades, I probably stumbled across some Iron Man suits. I thought it was pretty cool, and was wondering how much to buy one. Luckily I stumbled upon this site, Stealth's Hero Tutorials, as well as XRobots.co.uk, and figured I'd give it a shot. I put the blade on hold as I started to read everything I could about pepakura.
I decided that me nephew would love to have Iron Man show up at his birthday party, so I set out to make the best suit I could. Because at that time I had close to a year, I started with the pepakura method. After awhile, I switched to foam after seeing James resin coat method. I got most of the arms and legs done just before my first semester of nursing school started, and with that being as crazy as it was, I didn't get back to working on it until a week ago. Of course seeing Iron Man 3, and then watching 1, 2, and Avengers on my vacation last week really put my mind on it!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi there. I'm from Aberystwyth in West Wales.

Interested in starting up making items using Pepakura.

Looking at making a Iron Man helmet* but would love to find the comic book version if its out there. Also the Adam West Batman cowl if anyone knows for one. Also would like a place to buy the EVA foam in the U.K.

Also into Daleks :)

Thanks.

Ride a Triumph as well.

* I like the films but was much more into the comics years ago.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Howdy. I'm Kenny Rogers. Flower Mound, Texas. I found the RPF while searching reference sites for anyone else who was building full sized SciFi props and replicas like the Falcon, Land Speeder, Snow Speeder and such other buildable SciFi ships.

My brother and I have been building a Land Speeder off and on for about 6 years (mostly off...) Well about a month ago we decided we really had to get it finished in time to drive in "this years" 4th of July parade. We've missed the last 5 years of soft deadlines, sigh... Our families and friends think we'll never finish this beast. So we dusted it off (again), and it's finally about ready to paint. We test dove it for the first time this afternoon down the taxiway at the N.W. Regional Airport. We only speed it up to about 15 mph to test it out, but it's geared to run about 35 mph with the 7 HP Etek motor and 400 amp Alltrax controller on 48 VDC. We started the project as a test bed to improve our fiberglass and body work and painting skills.

The first RPF postings will be a recounting of the history of us building the Speeder and will pick up with how we'll finish it. I need to contact some of the other guys who are also building Speeders and see if we can go in as a group on some of the finish detail gribblies. Mon Cal, I'll be messaging you soon. And I think there is a guy in California.

We've driven Wayne's speeder while it was still here in Texas. Funny story, we used to play ice hockey with Wayne, but at the time didn't know he also suffered from Star Wars mania sickness like we did. A few Christmases ago, a friend called me to say he saw my Land Speeder go by at the Dallas Christmas Parade. I almost puked. It wasn't mine. Mine was still covered in dust in the back corner of my warehouse. Thanks to the good ol' internet I tracked down the story and was shocked to find out that it belonged to Wayne. I thought I as going to be the only other speeder in the country other than Daniel Deutsch's in Florida. In 2008 I'd meet Daniel and drove his speeder at his house. I was curious to see what he had done with his so that I'd have a better idea of how I wanted to progress on my idea of how a speeder could be made. At the time I was really wanting to make it a working hover craft. My progression was much more "thinking" than "doing". So mine continued to sit for years with only short bursts of forward progress.

We've meet a number of great local RPFers and Star Wars fans, the guys at Rebel Scum are a mile away from us. We really enjoyed Ben and Phillip's SciFi convention at Las Collinas in February. It's been years since I first met Ben when he was just starting to do his con's in Plano. Fantastic to get back into the scene with you guys. I'm all fired up to get this speeder finished and onto the next dream.

Well this is all for now. Please somehow find my new thread about my speeder build.

Hey hey! My name is Chris and I live in the UK :)

The prop world a relatively new thing for me. Having recently taken up leather crafting I was getting some practice in at a friends art studio (lots of space) when I was introduced to a replica prop maker in the studio next door. About 20 minutes later he comes over and in his hand is a Captain America mask/helmet he made from urethane. After a little chat he mentions that the real mask had leather ear pieces and chin strap and asked if I would like to have a go at making it. Already nerding out over the mask, I of course said yes!

So now i'm delving into the world of props and how and where my leather craft hobby can cross over :)

P.S. I'll upload pics of some work soon!

Hi all!
My name is Max (for shorter). I'm from Moscow, Russia (sorry for my English)
I've always made some thing like scale models and toys from different material, in childhood.
Now, from time to time I made some thing, like this:
IMAG0234.jpg
I've found this site after online interview of one famous person :) (not only on this site) and decided to try something new.
But because of my work I coldn't post any articles.
Now I hope I will post new articles right after new project starts.
This was the first attempt at props:

It's not finished yet. I very like Warhammer 40000 universe. And it will be not last project in this universe.
Now I'm working on one project from PC game.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

John here. Currently building a Warehouse 13 Farnsworth, and a Farnsworth-esk "thing" that probably doesn't belong on this site. The "thing" interests me more than the prop which is for my 15 year old step-daughter, but I'm new to all this and who knows... I could get into it.
