Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi all,
I have just started to collect props and thinking of making them also myself.
Interested in sci-fi props (mainly Star Wars) and props form games. I have been on the site time to time.
Cheers

Hello,
my name is Chris, I'm currently in the process of building a clonetrooper armor but my primary interest here is building the panels for a Han Solo in Carbonite i'm also going to begin building.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello there. Not really much of a poster but what the heck. Here goes: I have been a lurker for almost 2 years now. I was brought here by the Dexter Kill Tools thread after doing a Google search for "Dexter's Kill Tools" in early 2011. I have followed that thread as it has progressed and read every post, but never posted myself since I didn't realistically think I'd ever find any of the stuff or try to get together a set. I have also watched a number of the other Dexter prop threads as well as a few other things and I must say the work and time some of you put into projects is staggering and quite impressive. I doubt I'd ever get into it that much since my main interest is music, but who knows, I may surprise myself.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello everyone!

My name is Jon, or Op, whichever. I have been out of the costuming world for a few years and really want to get back into it after becoming addicted to Star Wars The Old Republic and talking with a co-worker about his all cardboard Nolan batman armor, iron man suits and other that look fantastic. I'm also very interested in EVA foam armoring and painting. I model 1:6 scale military figures and paint the weapons/clothing etc and hope to upscale those skills and wear my work ;)

I also like gaming and film, especially scifi and comic based. Also an avid airsofter. I currently work for GameStop and love it

Any info on the EVA foam sources would be great as well as tips on etching/engraving and forming :)

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello to all,

I'm obviously a new member. I've always had a but of a fetish for sci fi and fantasy props and costumes whether they came from movies,TV, video games, or comics. I am finding that I have a little more free time on my hands lately and have been thinking of trying some of my own builds. Seeing some of the stuff on this sight has been a huge inspiration so I have become a member.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi all,
just joined, and first posted today. I found the site just by google'ing around, great stuff! Usually I work in metal but have recently been dabbling with EVA because it is cheaper and lighter.
Any one else on here in the Long Island NY area?

cheers all!
Frank

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Good Morning, Good Afternoon and Good Night to you all!

My name is Chris, residing in London. I've been searching around this forum for a few years now, finding little tips and tricks for costumes.

I'm great at starting a project, but never seeing it through. So far I've started: Spartan (300), Batman (Dark Knight movie) Captain America (First Avenger movie), Iron Man (Mk3 movie). Thinking about it, I did successfully make my then girlfriend a BatGirl costume, which is the main reason my Batman suit never got finished, that and a last minute experiment going horribly wrong, and time running out.

But now I am determined to not only start, but finish a 7 piece (or 5 piece if you count gloves as a unit, and boots as a unit) Spider-Man suit, which will be a mix of Sam Raimi and Comic suits. Then if all goes well, original style utility belt (somewhere for keys, phone and money) and then mock webshooters (real if the technology fully exists by then).

I've also plans for the Iron Spider armour, simply because its awesome!

Hopefully a new thread with my efforts will appear soon!

Excelsior!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi everyone! I'm Scott, from the US. I'm currently an architecture student, and thus I have adequate modeling skills when it comes to buildings and such, but with my education nearing an end, I'm beginning to fear I will miss all the tedious model making. I'm hoping to replace buildings with replica props. I'm looking to get into EVA foam modeling (mostly because of price and availability).

Oh and Hey FrankV I'm from LI as well!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi, I'm Miguel from Portugal, great fan of star war. Found this place as I was searching for info on how to make my own Darth Maul costume. I already made a Darth Vader costume, I got most info from vader maker australia, and now I'm looking forward to star making Darth Maul's costume. I noticed it's not easy to find any templates for the clothes, I hope I can find good people here that can help me out.

Kind Regards to all

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey everyone!

So I've been lurking around this forum for quite some time now after having discovered it through looking up prop making techniques/tuts and such and I am so happy I finally joined.

For a long time now I've really wanted to be a little more serious with my costuming and prop making (past projects haven't been all too great), and I'm undertaking a long term project commencing very soon: THE AVENGERS! No, not the same movie replicas I'm sure you're all too familiar with but instead my own redesigns of Captain America, Thor, Wolverine and Iron Man (who at this point will not be a redesign but most likely the Extremis armor). I have been researching for a while and I am very anxious to get started working on my costumes. I hope you'll watch my progress in the future and I'll be sure to check out all the cool stuff on this awesome forum. Thanks guys!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi, RPF community!

I've spent the best part of a year lurking this forum and after spending a good deal of that time lusting after things like suits of Iron Man armour or home made Batman cowls I thought I'd finally do something about it and join in!

I'm a part time English student / Supervisor at a sports club, but I'm hoping that with enough knowledge and practice I could eventually get in to prop production of some sort somehow, but before that I need to actually get on and make stuff!

I'm looking forward to sharing ideas, knowledge and progress with you guys!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Good morning all,

I'm very excited about this site and adding to my personal collections (Star Wars and now starting a Firefly/Serenity collection) as well as taking those collections to a higher level (away from "action figures" or "toys" and into screen accurate reproductions.)

I've made a Star Wars Biker Scout costume, my first attempt into the "screen accurate" realm, I'm collecting parts for an R2 and this summer I will be making a "Mouse droid" with my son. He's very excited about it.

I've never really worked with my hands before and making the Scout costume was a challenge. I'm looking forward to learning new skills and I hope to be able to contribute to the site and other people's efforts as well.

Have a great day and see you on the boards!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello guys J. J. Niles here, new guy in town. Been creeping on the site for a while. I have been doing some modeling for years though most of my props end up staying on paper, due to my lack in Fabrication ability. I hope to learn a lot from you guys, and I hope you don't mind my noob questions.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi,
I've always been interested in the Judge Dredd character from the start and having seen the new film many times now it's time to start Judging! I have seen some of the many topics/posts here and I am honoured to be amongst many that share my passion!

I've been a modeller for 30+ years and will never stop learning.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello all!

Im a novice trying to get into the special effects field. I stumbled upon your site a few months ago and decided to register. I have seen some amazing work, and the community seems like a good one. I started making costumes in 2005 for the San Diego Comic con. My current project consists of a red skull costume for this year. I created a slip latex mask last year and an infinity gauntlet so I could be Thanos, Ill have to post pics later. Just wanted to introduce myself, hope to see you out there!
