Hello,

My name is Dominique. I hail from Vancouver Canada.
I'm really into costuming and decided that I could make more outfits if I figured out how to make armor and other accessories.

Hello all!

My name is Steve and am a new UK based member to the RPF. I have been lurking for a couple of weeks just admiring alot of the projects on the site so thought I would join in the fun. I currently have my first build in the works (small scale compared to alot on here) but I am enjoying it and looking through the fourms is great inspiration.

Looking forward to chatting with you all.

Steve.

Hi everybody I am kinda new to the site I signed up last year but have not had the time to do anything until now. I just started my first build ( I am building magneto, helmet from x-men first class. ) and I wanted to say hi incase I needed some help. My goal is to make a full set of clonetrooper armor but I wanted to start small. Just little about myself I am a gamer, star wars fan and I have a wife baby and I own my own business. So I am very busy all the time. But I like to be creative so I thought prop building would be fun. So hi everybody I hope all is well with you and we shell talk soon.

Peace OBI.

I've been lurking here for a couple weeks learning quite a bit about how to build a foam iron man costume. Great thanks to the community here; especially Stealth an James from x robots. Your tutorials and the general advice you guys have supplied has been fantastic for a guy trying to make his son an awesome costume.
I have completed roughly half of my foam work at this point and have the chest, back, neck, shoulders, biceps and abs foamed out and glued with 5 coats of pva. Next steps are to foam out the forearms and lower body and in parallel, polyurethane and paint.
Here are a couple picks of my 7 year old in the build as it is today. Never mind the serious face as he is just trying to look tough . . . He is thrilled with the whole concept.
Also, I scaled the Robot files adjusted for foam by stealth to 70% of original size. Seems to fit an approximately 50 inch guy pretty well.
Last, I plan to automate the helmet with a servo controlled hinge system.
My goal is to have this ready for the Iron Man 3 opening.

Well hi,
I don't have any idea what to write...
I'm 15 at the time of this post,
I found out about the forums from the tested.com videos and Adam Savages Ted talks, I love movies, anything from Spaceballs (or any Mel Brooks film) and the original Star-Wars trilogy to Skyfall, so-much so that I aspire to become a cinematographer but I also want to learn how to make things and collect movie props and or replicas. I would show my work but I don't have anything due to the fact that i don't know how to make anything of the caliber that I want (yet!) and well yeah, from what I'v seen of the forums this looks like a great community and a lot of fun!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi Everyone,

Wilson from Singapore here. I started out working as a helper in a Costume movie fan company, Picked up a lot of knowledge from there helping them with simple props and costume making from casting and repairing costume. Slowly my interest grew and I take part in my own personnel project now starting with the ODST.

I hope through this media forum, I can learn and absorb more knowledge in my quest for more ideas and methods.

Hi:

I'm new and I don't know anything. I do know that I like movies and I like this forum. I build old cars, furniture, and guns and, apparently babies (#3 ETA is two weeks). Although technically reproduction, I think the former skills will be more helpful for this hobby.

Here is a lightsaber I made several years ago, before I knew there were other guys in their basements making such things:

I machined it using dimensions found online. The machining was not finished in the photos, but it is now. It's not screen accurate, but my my son asked how you turn it on so it's close enough for now. It's machined from one piece of 2" aluminum. The next one will be modular for sake of ease and waste.

I'm going to try to build a Han in Carbonite once I learn how to work with the materials. I am continually impressed with the work I see here.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hiya,
Just registered for this site while being about half-way done with my first project. I tend to be one of those guys who, after seeing (or eating) something sits back and thinks "I wonder if I can make that?". This has taken me all over the map with regards to projects, hobbies and what-not. My latest adventure occurred around Halloween when I found a HALO Spartan constume for sale for a substantial price (big Xbox gamers in my house), so that led to the question "Hmm, I wonder if I could make a costume?". That led me to the 405th website, which had great info but alas isn't responsive to new people wanting to join and participate. Started with their tips and began discovering the joys of pepakura. Made one pep-fiberglass helmet that turned out too small (guess my kids can have that one) then discovered the apparent easier method of EVA foam construction. So I continued my online research and found this fine site, which seems to have far better foam tips that the other does and thus have landed my registration and subscription to quite a number of threads (none having anything to do with HALO, but great tips and interesting projects nonetheless). Thus far have spent quite a number of minutes (hours) on this site when I should've been working... But I do now have all of my armor pieces cut/glued. Will start working on filling all of gaps and seams and the coating/painting process soon.
Fortunatley for me, SWMBO is the biggest Xbox gamer in my house, so she supports this particular project, with the one caveat that the next project is a Femshep armor build for her.
Keep up the great work, you are all exceptionally talented and inspiring!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi everyone.

I found this site by way of a GBFans.com a few years ago. All I have under my belt so far is a proton pack, but this year I'll be constructing a working EMP rifle from The Dark Knight Rises. So I guess I'll be posting a build thread for that.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi, I'm new to the prop and memorabilia game but I have some interests in Iron Man, and other armors, I am learning about cad and 3d printing in some of my college classes. I look forward to being part of the community!
