All i have to put out there is that i feel like being a part of this forum is really going to help me with my newest projects, I'm just happy to be here.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Another newbie here...also an old guy...technologically I suck but I've made lots of cool stuff over the years;wish I knew how to do the "post photos thing". I'm still finishing a "Ironman Mark I" costume...too darn heavy to wear so it will sit on a manikin. Other gems; a Rocketeer costume with digital sound in the backpack. a screen accurate Hellboy Samaritan gun. 1989 Batman returns grappling gun and folding Batterang and utility belt. Full Disney style Diving suit and tanks,boots and helmet with 2/3 scale harpoon rifle and more. Maybe I'll figure out the photo thing eventually,ha!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

The devil is in the detail, a saying I didn't think much of until I started modelling. Been doing it for over 10 years now and still find more to learn every year.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello, I'm Moose. I love costuming and cosplay. I come searching critique, costume and prop help, and meeting some new people with similar interests. That's about it. :D

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello everyone!
My name is Nichole and I've been costuming since about 2007. I have a few costumes including:

ANH Leia
Slave Leia
Arkham Asylum Harley Quinn
Chell/Portal test subject (have everything but those darn long fall boots!)

I've known about this site for a very long time, thanks to friends in the 501st, but I only just now joined so I could lurk around and hopefully learn some things. I wouldn't mind learning to make my own props eventually since it would probably help me save a little bit of money -- my costume list is endless but my skills are very limited ATM. I'm sure some of you can relate right?

Anyway I look forward to poking around the site and as I start learning the sewing machine and getting more costumes going (already in the planning stages for two more costumes!) I hope to get a lot of advice and help from the forums here!

Hello everyone!

My name is Alex, I came across this site after helping my room mate find some pep files for an Iron man costume. I lurked around for a couple months after that until I finally decided to tackle my first build for Halloween 2012. I had a great time with the build and fell in love with cosplay. I plan on focusing on comic and most likely Star Wars related costumes and props, I also hope to learn as much as I can from all of the wonderfully talented people that are here

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi there everyone. I am new to this board, and I have joined since in my country (Switzerland, so don’t blame me for my English), there seems to be absolutely no one who does prop building or sculpting in any way near the quality you people do. The things I have seen here are so amazingly realistic and beautiful that I am just stunned again and again. I have mainly been drawing all my life, and a few years ago stumbled across a website called thesculptorscorner.com. The site, however, seems to be dead. At the same time, I have bought a Terminator Statue similar to the ones they had in the Planet Hollywood restaurants, from a guy called Schwerthelm Ziehfreund from Germany. I studied the statue for hours, trying to find out how it was built, and from then on was hooked. I bought the Stan Winston book and clay, silicone and whatever else was needed.

As many of you guys, I have always been a huge admirer of Arnold. I grew up watching his movies, and following his career in books and magazines has always been a great inspiration.

After having met Arnold in Geneva, Switzerland on the 8th of march last year (he hold a speech there for his R20 company) and getting finally his autograph, I have started with a silicone project (my first one…). I was amazed to see this guy once for real and to stand there in front of him and see him so near and all that. This guy has a tremendous aura, and I couldn’t hardly speak at first… So I wanted to build a bust of him the same way he was sitting there before he gave his speech (that why his head is slightly bent on the pictures). I started out with an utterly crappy recast my brother got me for my birthday years ago. The original of it once might have been a 3d scan of Arnold for T3, but the skin details were all gone, it was kind of warped and with parts crumbling away. So I built my first silicone mould and took a clay cast I started to play around with. I resculpted it where I saw the need for it, and I really started to love sculpting. At the moment I try to learn as much about skin detailing as possible, using everything from a dog brush to my little boy’s toothbrush, toothpicks and so on… Anyway, as you can see from my pictures, I have not yet finished Arnold’s face which I want to look a bit more aged than in T3, more the way he looks in “The last stand”. I need to refine the eyes area with all the wrinkles and maybe even have to put on a bit clay in order to make his face look a bit more hanging. After the clay bust will be finished, I want to build an ultracal mold and then cast the whole thing in silicone.

I have done a vast research already about how to put glass eyes into the silicone in the end and about how to fix them... I seem to be utterly clumsy since I haven’t found anything of much help yet... I have seen some screws in some fiberglass molds where the eyes will go, and I imagine that they hold some kind of replacement bulbs until the silicon skin has cured in order for the real eyes to be put in their exact place. How the eyes will hold in the end (through the resin core?) is yet another mystery to me… I work a lot with the Stan Winston book and the Todd Debreceni book, but I am clueless at the very moment regarding this issue. I would highly appreciate if you guys could help a poor noob a little, maybe there is a thread I have not yet read or a book I should buy?

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi there everyone :D

I'm brand new to these boards and just started browsing around, but I already love what I'm seeing.

I've been costuming for close to 10 years now and making my own stuff the last 4.

I've mainly done cosplay from anime and video games, but I would very much like to get into superhero costumes soon with my Red Hood project this year.

My award winning crafted costumes include Gold Kilik from Soul Calibur 4 and Oda Nobunaga from Sengoku Basara.

I've still got much to learn and I've heard very good things about this forum elsewhere on the net, so please treat me well and I hope to talk the trade with many of you soon!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello, my name is Harris. I'm from California and attending Sierra College with a major in Theatre Arts. Aside from acting, my main interest in my theatre education is costuming. I've been obsessed with dressing up in costumes ever since I was a kid. It's my actor's instinct to just put on a costume, but after seeing a whole bunch of videos and pictures of cosplayers on G4 and online, I knew that I had to be a part of that aspect of fandom. For the time being, I am dreaming of what I want to work on and as soon as I take my costuming classes at college, I hope to start on my future projects as a cosplayer.

Speaking of cosplay, I have only been to one convention in my life: Star Wars Celebration VI. I dressed up as a generic Jedi Knight and just mingled with fans in the exhibit hall and attended as many panels as I could, including one Clone Wars panel where George Lucas made a surprise appearance. I hope to attend more conventions later on in the future, such as WonderCon, San Diego Comic Con, and future Star Wars Celebrations.

So far, the only costumes I have are a Hogwarts student (Gryffindor) costume and a Jedi costume (which is still in progress).

As a cosplayer, I would love to make the following costumes:

Star Wars
* Stormtrooper
* Clone Trooper (Doesn't matter if it's Episode II or III)
* Generic Sith Lord
* Darth Nihilus
* Revan
* Generic Mandalorian
* Imperial Officer
* Rebel Fleet Trooper

Marvel Comics:
* Spider-Man (either Comic Book costume or the suit from The Amazing Spider-Man film)
* Hawkeye (Comic Book costume)
* Deadpool

Other costumes:
* The Doctor (Doctor Who) (either the fourth, seventh, tenth, or eleventh Doctors)
* Star Trek Redshirt (I'm not a big Trek fan)
* Gondorian Soldier (Lord of the Rings)
* Hobbit costume
* Ken Masters (Street Fighter)
* Halo Spartan
* Commander Shepherd (Mass Effect)
* Tron suit

Looking forward to learning how to make these costumes and accompanying props and I hope to see some of you at Comic Con, WonderCon, or Star Wars Celebration at some point.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello all!

I've been a member of the RPF since 2010, but just today I've broken my lurker habit!
I'll guiltily admit that it's because I'm looking to sell a few things, and I need to hit that pesky 20-post limit.

I'm more of a videogame collector so my prop collection's not that large, but I have a huge passion for Doctor Who, and I do adore the cosplay scene.

I own a huge amount of classic videogames, consoles, Doctor Who merch & DVDs. I think the stuff below is what you'd guys be interested in knowing about, though;

A David Tennant sonic screwdriver
A chameleon arch fobwatch
An (inaccurate) Tom Baker era sonic
A portal gun

So yeah, hello!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Pretty much brand new to all prop and model work, I've always wanted to re-make the iron man suit. I'm going to be making one for my 3 year old nephew... although i'm going to need some practice, So I guess I'll make some pieces for myself first :lol Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, I've already got so many ideas. Going to start of with the iron man helmet, not quite sure on which one yet but i've already looked at mechanics and such.
