Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Hi guys,

I just joined the forum. I've been collecting costumes for a few years now. Some of the costumes that I'm into are Batman 1966, Star Wars, Star Trek, Buck Rogers, Vampirella, Doctor Who, WWII U.S. + Italian. I'm hoping to find some information here about a chewbacca mask - that's a costume I've been wanting to put together for years.

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Hi everyone at TheRPF,

My name is Nick and I recently discovered The RPF when I was looking for a Constantine Lighter replica, and I was taken aback. Currently, I do not have any replicas except for a 1941 Zippo Replica, which isn't really a movie replica prop, but it's still a replica, and a Taurus Beretta Replica BB gun. I was thinking about carving the lighter out of resin and having it cast in metal, but I'm not sure where I will find a foundry in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Hi all,

I've been lurking for a while and showed up to the site today due to some additional free time. Apparently the implied urgency of the limited signup period worked with the holliday 'deal' season on me, 'cause, here I am.

My interest, admittedly, is less focused on replicas and props in and of themselves, but more on the techniques and skills in the methods through which things are created. I suppose I'd fit in the catagory of "hardware hacker?"

Which means that I like all the project and 'making of' threads and can always appreciate a good build.

Hi. years ago I played at prop making. Mostly Blade runner, Star Wars and Stargate stuff. I hope to get back into it soon. I was very impressed with all the work I saw and wanted to sign up while I could.

Hi all,
Will here. Lurked for a bit, but glad to join the community finally. Greatly admire the style and skill of the members here.

I'm a fledgling model maker and FX technician, with a little experience making props. Most notably, I had a miniature in Feast 3: (actual screenshot)
l_8dc693b6fabd4bbba25b3ece7251befa.jpg

Modified an existing model bus, added motorized wheels and working shocks, gutted it and modded out the windows to match a life-sized one. Made a miniature set from MDF, fuller's earth and miniature grass. Scattered scale model car parts around to complete the set.

Did it for next-to-free since I need to build a portfolio...and they failed to credit me. I got a letter of apology from the producer and an IMDB credit for it, whoop de doo. Learned never to do business without a signature, even with friends.

During the week I run the molding and casting department for United Biologics...a demi-medical company contracted to the neurosurgery company Microvention.

I love the sci-fi replica guns many of the members here showcase. Would love to get into making those soon.

Hi there, names Gareth, from Northern Ireland.

Been watching this place for ages, missed out on the last couple of signups but luckily today something in the back of my mind beckoned me to come on, so hoorah finnally a member.

Major film fan, started collecting movie related items a couple of years ago and although my collection is relatively small, im forever wanting to increase it and learn.

I would really love to start making and modelling for myself, but finding it hard to make the first leap as i have no experience in the field.

Look forward to getting to know you guys and gals on here.

Howdy
My name's Steve and I teach art in a small town in Oklahoma. I'm an old schoo; geek, saw Star Wars when it first came out and Star Trek when TOS was first on TV.

I play tabletop RPGS and Wargames. Started with D&D in '79. My main reason to be here is for RPGs, I love using lots of props at the table.

Woo Hoo I'm in! Been a huge fan of this site for years & I am finally a member of the RPF. My name is Brad & live in the Tampa Bay area with my wife & 10 year old son. I have been a fan of props & replicas since I first saw "A New Hope" & knew that I would someday own something that was movie quality. I am now 37 and a member of the 501st (TD8696). Also I am on The Dented Helmet as "Tampafett". I have owned a SE Boba Fett, Stormtrooper, Sandtrooper, Iron Man, Batman, Spiderman, & am almost done with my Jango Fett (sons favorite SW character). Thank god my wife understands my passion & love. My son just thinks I'm a little crazy:lol I look forward to adding my thoughts & projects here soon. I am so glad to be joining the rest of you here!

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Hey, all!

I've been lurking a while and admiring the hell out of your work. I'm married, with a gorgeous wife and 2.5-year-old son, a Rottweiler, two cats and two hermit crabs. A former Marine, I enjoy shooting guns and breaking things.

A brief history: I was a huge fan of "Voyage Into Space" (the movie version of "Johnny Sokko and his Flying Robot") and Godzilla movies when I was a young boy back in the Olden Tymes. "Silent Running" was my first true sci-fi obsession, and I spent endless hours trying to make drones out of Legos. I tried to replicate robotic limbs from "Westworld" and "The Six Million Dollar Man." Then "Star Wars" hit in 1977 and the whole world changed.

...blah, blah, blah, model airplane kits, cardboard, styrofoam packing material, blah...

Recently I've been indulging my 30-year-old "Mad Max" obsession (finally put together an MFP uniform and attended the inaugural Road Warrior Weekend Event 2009). I'm glad my buddy jwrites pointed out the open registration period, because while I tend to be particular about screen accuracy, you freaks make me feel normal. :)

See you around!

Curtis
