Yeah what I’m saying is. I think there is so many different sized clamps that to make it fit perfectly even some people have to cut into the “pool”
Or maybe the bubble strips are off here and there

I see it! Yea, I guess that was the result of directly copying the clamp length, which is the exact length of the underside recess. I like the lo ok of leaving it long, but either way, I really enjoy how beveling it makes it slide under the rails and sit flush at the same time
I've drilled some additional holes in my vintage ANH today. It had an older hole from my previous D-ring, but as you can see, the two new holes can be added without any issue.

So glad this adjustment doesn't require us all to get replacement bottom halves!
Took the plunge today. My original hole was a little off center from the grip to start with so I was worried about merging the new hole into the larger one, but using backer washers solved any issue with that. I just slid the washers onto a thin brass tube I had and lined it up with the back of the rivets and led it slide down in place.
Still came out a little too high on the outer lip and off center, but I think i gotta move that centered grip to the right anyway for the larger rivets between the grips.

I wussed out and cut the rivet heads and used the VHB tape to put everything together.
Let me know when you’re done with that tape.

I did however swap out Roy’s d-ring for a vintage one.

I hadnt anticipated how the d-ring rivets would get in the way of doing the grip rivets... literally couldnt push them in all the way to pull them. Had to pretty much drill through the back and of each d-ring rivet to be able to do the grip ones, which also came out wonky as hell. Oh well, Im sure the original wasnt clean or even either (in fact the reference makes them look like theyre tilted and out of whack as well)

I plan to use a vise to hold the rivet and will use a dremel cutting wheel to cut the stem off. Then use a dremel sanding drum to smooth everything out.

Here’s my final hack job. The small rivets seem a bit too small to me, and I screwed up and got the holes too close together so they overlapped. Might still drill them out and glue new ones over the holes but we’ll see how much r bugs me later. Definitely not a lot of room in that corner for rivets. Also got the lever screw tip to show through the sidebar using one of Roy’s cards by removing the lever washer.
Just pinch the clamp halves (with the clamp separated from the flash tube) together and completely unscrew the lever from the clamp. The washer is just sandwiched between the lever and the sidebar.
Yea all you need to do is pinch it together far enough to pass the square shoulder of the lever. Its round after that and can unscrew.
I just had a clamp installed on a black graflite (with holes drilled for the tabs) and had to use 2 sets of pliers to squeeze it tight to pass the square shoulder!

I did it and I think it is right. The clamp lever washer is removed and the bubble strip is tightly wedged in. When you tighten the lever with the bubble strip in it’s tight as hell I can’t close it at all all the way. Here are pictures I took. And the last one shows the real prop screw sticking out. I think it matches mine.
