New Elstree Studio documentary with discarded Graflex.

Naw, it was both the flash and the blaster (wonder which). Check the video again and see Ruben's post above. Who wishes that they knew this guy back when he was giving out this sort of stuff for his friends birthday!

Did you get any sleep in the end Halliwax?! ;-)

Went to bed around 3am... freak’n men in black and men in black II was on tv.. what a horrible sequel, writing a thank you post now to Ruben

Ruben, I just want to say thank you for coming out and telling this historic story.

This saber opens up so many new questions, but gives us a lot of answers and options now as well

The pictures are truly amazing! I’m willing to bet your 100% right with your theory and this was a original that got scrapped after they couldn’t get the motor setup to work

Oddly enough the real stunt also has the single knurled button..

Man this is historic... did prop shop give any estimates value?

Thank you Halliwax. Its now in Propstore possesion. I think they are gonna tour it in conventions, and comicCons. So many of you Will see it close!

Wow. Just plain WOW. This is a stunning and amazing development in the history of such an iconic prop. Thank you , Ruben, for bringing it all forward and sharing what you found.

WOW!

Dan

Also does anybody know if the folmer with patent ever had that style of red button?i have a New York folmer with that style button but my folmer with patent came with the regular red button.

The early Folmers definitely may have come with this thin knurled red button.

The early Folmer I picked up “in the wild” in an antique store in Texas exhibited this exact red button:

GRAFLEX Found In The Wild....

Hello guys.

I am Ruben Jimenez Brinquis. I did that documentary and I found Andrew Mitchell and the lightsaber. I Will try to answer all your questions about it, and I Will provide you more detailed photos of it.

I have a theory about how this saber was used in produciton. Its just a theory. but first I want to listen to your impressions.

And these are photos took in Propstore offices, more resolution.. Please notice the clamp is not in his original position. All explained before.

Thank you

My theory is:

While Roger Christian screw it up trying ot pass an original for a replica, changing his versión of events to accomodate that new finding of his, I still think he made the original ones. And I still think its true his versión of the events before his lie. I think its true he made just 3 of these lukes lightsabers.

I think this is one of those 3, that he gave to the special effects department to make the stunt saber. I think the sfx guys tried to put inside this saber the motor to make the rotating rod (explainign why is loose inside) It would not fit, or they were not capable of, they discarted this one, and thats why they made a stunt saber from scratch, using a metal pipe instead a graflex, and dressing it with some touches, as the red button, the knurled button (same kind like this one) and the grips. Black grips that my guts say are the ones this saber had at the begginning. They striped them off to put them in the stunt saber. Its known that grips were scarce.

The metal piece in the head could be a thing to try to put a static metal rod in it, like the did for the sequels. For use as rehersal or whatever.

That is my theory.

That is very compelling information thank you for sharing & informing the RPF

Doesn’t Roy’s model show it not being centered? Center of the tube is shown by the intersecting lines and is visible on the overlay instead of being under the d-ring clip.

Its not quite centered. Just a bit off center.
However, when I first noticed the placement of the D-ring wasnt along the edge (like was previously believed) I didnt place mine dead center either. i went off center just a bit closer to the edge..slightly more off center than Roys.

Has anyone entertained the idea that maybe the tops and bottom if these sabers may have been swapped around and mismatched?
