If you mean wear on the new paint then nope , I rubbed off some of it while it was drying on the ridges and button to give it a bit of a used look that's about it.

Ok - so I went to this huge wickes and spent literally an hour finding the perfect grey. When I showed the guy who was helping me the sonic and the colour I wanted, he was like, '(with sarcasm) does it light up??' Then I switched off all the JML TVs that were set up. That guy was spooked to say the least and so another helper came. This one was a really keen whovian and was a great help.
So I bought this light grey (silk stone) and it was the right colour and all. But I'm a perfectionist and I couldn't match the perfect job the wand company did and so I'm sticking with the light grey we get out of the box.
For me, I think of David Tennant as a scientific, clean doctor, not rough or messy like Matt Smith or CE, and so the lighter handle is more in tune with this interpretation of his doctor than the darker shades that people have produced (although I think that aesthetically they still look great).

I could never get the JML tv's to switch off !
If you look at the pics of the prop , its not a clean job in real life.
Just make sure to use acrylic paint , Hobby/model shops are usually the best bet

Random idea, but has anybody thought of maybe sanding the cracks to where the sonic body is smooth (since the crackle pattern isn't actually that deep) then using actual crackle paint in it? Or is that a bad idea

If you sanded it wouldn't the cracks go away I think maybe fill the cracks up with paint (same colour as the paint on replica not crackle) so they fill up but somehow bring the cracks back up still showing the same cracks and make it look as if it painted like the props hmmmmm

Yeah you could do , There are people who do this as there was a post on here with photo's but for whatever reason RPF dont like us talking about it..
Only thing is that unless you where going to use the correct paint I dont think plasticote stuff would make it look all that good , and it would be inaccurate to the prop. In my opinion TWC scan of DT's crackle is good enough , Just needs the color changed slightly.
Thats what we have been posting about in the last few posts , If you look at my pic thats what it looks like. Get some pictures up of your handles , still interested to see what you have done even if your scrapping the idea now.
Watered down hobby acrylic black , went other a section at a time and then let it dry hour an hour or so before rubbing away the excess , any stubborn bits could be removed with the edge of a piece of plastic or even your nail if your steady enough.

To try and keep my replica cheap and able to make in the UK I'm using this for my handle, I have one question is the silver bottom part and the emoter and collar unscrew able so I can get the handle on its own, I'm doing this so I can swap the peices with the wand companies metal part even though some of the sizing will be off.
