New 10th Doctor Sonic Screwdriver Universal Remote

My wife wants a sonic screwdriver. One of these days, I'll get her one. Or build one. She's seen many of the Dr Who episodes. I don't watch very much of Dr Who though.

I just wanted to reach out to everyone for top tips that they have found out about the sonic. I'll start by saying that for 'taps' on the sonic, don't tap the emitter or the clear column but the metal band above the handle where the teeth fit into it gives the most accurate and responsive results.

Somebody please help. I sent a message to TWC friday and still havent received anything back. I let my sonic sit for the weekend and the emitter still wont light up. :c

As stated many times in this thread, I got my sonic yesterday and cannot say enough good things about it! Can't remember the last time I was so excited by such a complete, well thought out package - the incredible ingenuity, discerning craftsmanship and creative functions you guys poured into this screwdriver is unmatched. Incredible job!

RPF'ers are some of the best at measuring and quantifying anything to the Nth... although, we can never measure just how much fun this piece brings the world.
Thank you, both Chris and Richard...and anybody else involved, for all your hard work - lightning in a bottle!

(Wow, now I'm a little cheesed out by how thick I laid it on, but...I have to post it, it's the truth)

I got mine two days ago and I just can't put this thing down! Some things on the sonic I would change(tube inside the acrylic rod, delicateness) but it's got great things about it like the blue line is perfect and doesn't look odd, and the FX mode. This is worth the 100$ plus more!

Hi guys - I'm really desperate. My daughter was playing around on my sonic and has set a lock code which she can't remember what she set it to. Is there some way to get around this? I don't mind if Chris or Richard don't wish to publish this in public, so my email address is hugo.blogg@me.com.

Please help in any way you can.

IT'S ALL OK. I'VE GOT ROUND IT. OMG I'M SO RELIEVED.

Good to hear. It's also in the instructions on how to reset it

Just got mine, it's great. Bought an IR receiver for my PC to play around with. Only thing that's quite annoying is that the slider has become loose and no longer stays in the down position easily (holding it upside will make it extend) :darnkids

I sent TWC a feature request to consider developing software for it so that you can plug it into a PC and edit it's functions (like change the order of the mode toggle, etc) but they said that it would be too expensive so it kind of is what it is. It would be interesting if the microcontroller can actually be flashed/edited when connected via USB and its associated IDE.. Anyone pull theirs apart and taken a look at what ICs it's using?

Holy Eff... this is awesome! I remember seeing the wand a long time ago when I was thinking of making harry potter stuff but the 11th is gorgeous!

Does anybody else have a sensitive button? I sent mine in and got a replacement but my replacement has a sensitive button and doesnt click like the other one did. Anybody know how to fix it?

I noticed there is a screw in the actual prop, but it's not on the universal remote so what happened to the screw and is the crackle on top of the screw still the same on the remote image.jpgimage.jpg

They left it out because the remote version did not need a screw to keep it together. The production team painted over the screw so it was deemed that an idealized version of it would not have the screw. and no the crackle pattern over that particular area had to be changed to accommodate the lack of a screw

Aaaaahhh that makes sense, thanks for the info
