Btw guys what happens if you paint plastikote over a handle without a base coat, will no cracks appear, I want it so the only cracks there are are the cracks in the universal remote
Looks like Capaldi won't get a new sonic after all 
Seems bizarre and sad considering:
a) BBC have missed out on a new a new piece of merchandise that would have no doubt sold like hot-cakes
b) I was hoping/expecting Capaldi to be a different doctor to Matt Smith and a new sonic to represent the new character
c) Means that a new and improved sonic from the Wand Company with more memory banks and new features looks even further off than it did before.

The wand company needs to use kickstarter to fund projects for future, feature improved sonics.

The Doctor has almost always used the previous incarnation's sonic for an episode or so. Tennant used Eccleston's until the first episode with Martha Jones, Smith used Tennant's for the entire first episode. Capaldi is a very different Doctor than Smith so we should assume he'll get his own signature sonic sooner than later.

Does anybody else hope that Capaldi gets the river song sonic? I think it'd be a cool sonic to see used more than just two episodes.

I dunno - it would prevent the BBC and CO making a mint out of a new replica.
Plus, I found river's sonic boring.
I'm praying for a new sonic really (I didn't like Matt Smith's tbh)

Yeah I know what you mean - I just feel that it is wishful thinking. More for fan fiction than for the proper show IMO.
I also reiterate that I felt River's sonic is very dull - no extension etc.

It would be interesting to see a shiny new version of River Song's future sonic that does more (after all, the future version is old and probably has lost some functionality over the years), and it would be a great way to bring the River story to a close before Capaldi goes off doing non-Smith-y Doctor things. In her first episode, Tennant says "That's my sonic, how did you get my sonic?" so we were at that time led to believe that in his future, as a different incarnation, he gave her his exact (10th Doctor) sonic. However, there have since been a few nods to it working psychically instead of kinetically, as well as the 50th anniversary special revealing it having a different case but always the same software, so by those additions to the cannon it's apparent that he just knew it was his because he could mentally connect with it's software on the spot. I wouldn't be surprised if Moffet added those later explanations to account for the fact that the classic Tennant screwdriver was destroyed in 'The Eleventh Hour', and was preparing in advance for the day he decides to give the Doctor (maybe Capaldi?) River Song's PAST sonic screwdriver :lol
In my opinion, it has to happen during Capaldi's run. River's already spanned 2 Doctors' timelines and is rumored to appear in the next series, but it's been strongly suggested that the 12th Doctor is diverting heavily from Smith era Who, implying that River might be making her last appearance(s) this series. Honestly, I think if they give her a good send off, it will be perfect. She married Eleven, she shouldn't be wrapped up with other incarnations!
Am I going to be hated intensely if I say that I don't like River Song and her participation in the Smith series??
Personally, I don't think Russell T Davies wanted her to be a huge character: I think she was just the biggest clue to say that while the 'Doctor's song' was going to end, he wasn't going to die.
What Moffat did was blow up a character which was only introduced for a double episode to serve as a clue saying that the doctor still had a future.

I dont think that it was such a bad thing that she was made into a bigger participant in the series. I enjoyed river's participation in Smith's run but everybody is entitled to their own opinion.

I think she served as a scapegoat since I preferred Tennant's series much more than Smith's!!!
I mean IMO Tennant's series were practically perfect.

I wasn't a huge fan of the River storyline at first, but the chemistry between Smith and Kingston was very entertaining.
I felt it was a little cringe-worthy - I mean, as good as Kingston looks for her age, Smith could have been her son!!!

Haha, true, true. But when I think of what Eleven would be into, I think older woman. Besides, a younger girl wouldn't have the experience and instinct to deal with him as needed.

Yeah but you have to remember at the time they start dating in character the doctor is Reeeeeeeealllllllllyyyyyyyy old. Like. 1000 years old. So in character she's young for him. But matt and kingston are indeed really far apart when it comes to real age. Geez now that I think of it its really weird because matt totally kissed her. Like octoroc said.. kinky.

Well, everything is timey wimey in Who so old, young, kind of a moot point lol. And depending on Timelord preference, maybe they want someone who looks older but is actually younger? I mean, if all Timelords are regenerating left and right, men with old wives are getting new younger wives every hundred years or so, and someone's dad could die, regenerate, and look 30 years younger than they do. Sure, Eleven was around a thousand when he married River, but he was only about 100 years into his current generation and 100 years in Time lord is basically like...7 human years old? Okay, this is getting kinkier by the minute!
Also, wtf is a year in the Whoniverse? We measure a year by our own revolution around our sun. Does the rest of the universe do the same or does the TARDIS translate currencies as well lol?

Hey while people are still talking, does anybody know how to get the bottom of the sonic to unscrew? I got glue on parts inside causing it to be harder to slide up and I need to clean it up.
