New 10th Doctor Sonic Screwdriver Universal Remote

are you guys going to be at the doctor who celebration event london ??

Yes, we certainly hope so - we'll be helping to demonstrate our products at the Forbidden Planet and/or BBC Shop merchandise areas. Do come along and say hello if you're around too.

:lol You and me both.

I did send that link to a friend of mine who is a big DW fan...and a woman. But I definitely got a bit of a start when I saw that email. Oh well. Soon enough we'll get the REAL email that we're waiting for.

At the moment we're not expecting any delay to the UK shipments - our retailers here (Firebox, Forbidden Planet and BBC Shop) should hopefully be shipping out their pre-orders in the week of 7th October.

After talking with our UK retailers yesterday, there are rather more pre-orders than we were expecting, so I'm afraid that not all of them will be able to be fulfilled during the week of 7th October. All the remaining UK pre-orders should be shipped out to customers by the week of 21st October. We've hopefully got enough stock heading to the US to fulfil all of the ThinkGeek and BBC America Shop pre-orders at the same time (around 21st October, as I mentioned before).

Apologies for any frustration that this causes.

All that means is that you are listening to, and satisfying your customers!

Well done!

Hello! i recently spoken with the thinkgeek help service about the products stock date, the person who responded said they will get the Screwdriver the 16th of October. This was yesterday on the 27th, is this date true or did they have the incorrect date?

That's probably still the date on their system, but I warned their buyer a few days ago (when I posted about the delay on this thread) that we might be a day or two late delivering the stock into their warehouse. Being slightly conservative, we should be able to deliver to them on Friday 18th October, and I guess they'll then be shipping out to customers on Monday 21st (hence my comment on here the other day). However, if there are no delays with the airfreight to the USA, or with US customs clearance, and if the goods can be turned around quickly by our Chicago warehouse team, then we might be able to improve on that a little, so getting the Sonic Screwdrivers to ThinkGeek on 16th October is still a possibility.

Thank you for the response! i was aware of the delay you posted, i was just curious if the date i told was new information.

So does anyone have a reliable and/or easy crack darkening method? I dont want to mess mine up when I get it, so if any of you know what would work best with abs "that'd be greeaat"

^Probably a wash with thinned down dark acrylic paint, followed by gently wiping it off the raised areas would do the trick.

Yeah, that should work fine. The top surface is actually a clearcoat lacquer rather than the ABS itself, but acrylic paint should stick to it OK. I'm about to dash out for a meeting but as a quick test I just grabbed the first can of grey spray paint that came to hand, sprayed it on, then wiped it off with a cloth dampened with white spirit (mineral spirits, for our US friends). I've not done a good job of it (Chris is our resident expert at this sort of stuff) but you get the idea:

Richard, you just earned yourself some nerd cred here for doing that.

One of us. One of us. One of...well you get the idea.
