Never Ending Story The Book

Ah.. Missed that one.. Definitely a nice version.. His wins.. :lol

Thanks :lol
As VashDstampede already started with the snake border for the pages (they look very good :thumbsup) my proposal would be to think about possible drawings or ornate initials for the pages.
As we don't have clear pictures from the actual pages from the first movie book I started to work on a first ornate initial (The "K" picture post #70) as seen in the second part of the movie.

I think we really need artwork for two reasons:
1. They look good (hopefully :lol)
2. We have quite some pages to fill up to make the book look heavy and not too thin

The advantage of using ornate initials as one part of the artwork is that we already have a guideline how they look and can use this info to create similar ornaments for other initials if needed.

I think I know the font to use for the sticker, just not paying that much for it.. LOL.. I think it is the Bookman Complete Font..

Hello guys and gals!
Going to the lake this weekend and excited about reading this post when I get back.
Can someone compile a list of who is doing what.
It may seem like a small thing but it is important and needed already twice we have had 2 people do the same thing.:unsure
If we have to buy a font than we should, After all it would likely cost nothing spread out over this many people.
I am set to start molding and casting upon approval of the Auryn, and extremely enthused to be working with so many super people.
cheers.

Can someone compile a list of who is doing what.

Ok, I will try :love
Feel free to add comments or your name behind the points if you can/want to help (specify what you can do), already worked on the topic or if you have infos/ideas...
... or of course add additional points :thumbsup

I can also maintain an Excel list offline if this gets too large...

I think that's just a cutting technique use on the book during manufacturing...

More accurately, it's an absence of cutting. What you're seeing is the bundles of 5 to 10 folded pages all stacked on one another. The ones closer to the center will sitck out further, giving it that uneven zig zag effect. Usually a hydraulic guillotine sort of thing will chop and even this area out. But some special editions and hand bound books leave the uneveness there for asthetic purposes...or they just don't have the machinery to do it. Which probably means the entire book was hand made from scratch specifically for the movie as opposed to just dressing up a found book.

Great work on this one so far. As a fan from my youth and an avid book collector, I look forward to the finish.

Complete? Sounds like a big font package. You only need Bookman Standard Medium Italic: http://www.linotype.com/de/168283/itcbookmanstdmediumitalic-charactermap.html
You'll need to make the second K from a regular one and a swashed one.

No, it's not that one. Notice where the 'tales' (whatever they are called) come off the capital A. In Bookman Standard, they come of the bottom, but on the label in the book they come off the very top of the A. The specific font is "Bookman JF Swash A" as seen here:

It's apparently only available from Veer:

I don't buy fonts, so I don't know if there's other places to get them... Someone might have it in a large 'font pack' or something...

Any ribbon experts for the bookmark?

If you get me the best pic we have on the ribbon, I can do some legwork in that area. I will email the pic out to some companies that specialize in that sort of thing and see what is available.
If it has to be sewn into the book with the pages, we will have to determine if, whoever is binding the books, will be able to unclude the ribbon as well.

Just got back from vacation and I'm back working on this project.

I don't think there's any need to buy fonts for the sticker, since it has or could be done easily with a little bit of alteration to existing fonts we may have.
I used to work at my dad's sign shop for 12 years, so I'll go check his library of fonts this week and see if he has the exact one.

There's a screen shot in post 66 that shows them with the book closed...

Here's another shot of them hanging out the bottom while Bastian is reading it.
There's two of them, one red and one white.

Book marks. 'Fancy' books have these a lot... You just flip them down the page you are reading when you stop. I'm not sure why there's two, either for two different readers, or they were meant to be tied together just making one multi-colored one (you see the ends tied together in some shots...)
