Never Ending Story The Book

Eduard got it!
I cannot view image too many bytes.
What does that even mean? Are we sure the words are embossed? They dont look embossed to me or is that wishful thinking?
I can get various gold old, shiny etc decals made but wont bother if it wont look right.

If you're talking about the title in the front of the book, I don't think decals are the way to go. It needs to look and feel like a real book with stamped/pressed gold lettering.

I've worked with decals most of my life and I've tried using it as titles on a few albums.
Over time (plus change in temperature) the adhesive seeps out on the edges, lint etc. gets caught and looks real cheap.

In that case are there leather stamps that have the right font?
I can make a large die to stamp it but I will need to go to my old machine shop to do it. My equiptment here is too small.
Whew I will need to get the old man pretty drunk:unsure

Take a look at the huge picture I posted up in post #177. You can clearly see the title is pressed into the leather with gold letters. Also, the Auryn itself is set in a pressed circle... We may not need to go that accurate, but it was done that way on the movie prop...

I also worked on the bottom snake border and hopefully even if we get blank pages, we can get the snakes printed on there.

Wow...certainly coming along well. I am in to help. I think gold leafing the stamped impression of the letters would be the way to go as well. Also...the imprint behind the Auryn.

Vash...lovely mockup. I think cast with eyes is the way to go.

Any reputabe print shop can do gold lettering on textured leather-like vinyl. So long as the leather used for these books is about the same thickness, they might be able to print right onto it.

REALLY great work! Even if we had to do no text, this design would make me more than happy - very impressive!
We should really shoot for the stars on this one, that way if we only reach the moon, we're still going to have the best (if not only) replica of the movie book ever.

Awesome work once again Vash.. So looking forward to this piece getting completed, and owning one.. Where we at with it now? What else do we need to do..

I think these guys have everything in the works and under control - I am just as anxious as anyone about this!
My hope is that whatever options are on the table - regarding materials, methods and details, that only the BEST options be persued. With all the work that has already transpired and the level of commitment and affection for this particular prop, it is tremedously appropriate to strive for the best, most 'high-end' replica possible, which means no cutting corners.
If it takes a little longer or a few more hoops to jump through, I am confident it will all be worth it in the end....besides which, you see anyone else trying to make this replica?

Exactly.. I have joined a number of NeverEnding Story forums etc trying to see if it had been made or can be, hence was trying to join here for years, finally was around at the right time.. No stopping me now..

I'm not just excited for myself - the real beauty of this project is that I know SO MANY fans for SO MANY years have wanted THE book from the movie...what a wonderful thing it will be when that dream becomes a reality.
I don't wanna' grow up. I'm an RPF kid. There's a million props at RPF that I can play with...
From blasters to sabers to replica Darth Vaders, it's the biggest prop board there is!
I don't wanna' grow up, cuz' if I did, I coulden't be an RPF kid...
(OK, I'm being silly here, but still having fun!):)

Yep, this has been a dream prop of mine since I saw the movie as a kid.
This is the reason I'm so willing to help out to make this dream come true.
Again, brainstorming what this could look like, I made a sample page (of course I blurred the writing since it's copyrighted).
Seems to me the screen-used book has more and denser writing arrangement than the sample I used from the book.

Anyone working on getting the right paper for the pages with the rough edges?

Vash all I can say is, you da man! This looks awesome.. And I, and I am sure everyone else, is so appreciative in the work you have done to get it closer to a dream come true..

Working on the inside tag..

Looks also good, but I already did that (see post #77) :confused
Maybe it's time to coordinate things a bit more ...
