Movies that need a Director's Cut

  • Tombstone to include all the stuff they took out of the first cut.
A few others come to mind, mostly for selfish reasons because I knew those cut from the finished version:
  • Saving Private Ryan to include the scene showing how they lost the Jeep and trailer they left Omaha Beach in. That was filmed but never made it into the film (it's in the book version). I've heard rumors the minefield scene with the attack on the 88s mentioned early on was filmed as well but I've not found strong support for that.
  • Glory to include the stuff I was in, that all got cut out!
  • Something Wild to include the scene of my father (dressed as a Civil War Confederate re-enactor) walking out of the gas station, stopping and looking at the guys throwing down a freestyle rap, then walking on. He is in the film right before that (literally bumping into Jeff Daniels), but I have always thought that'd be a funny addition that Dad confirmed was filmed. We lost Dad in 2023, and it'd be great to finally see that part.

TMP needed it because it was never finished to begin with. The rest of them for better or worse were finished more or less as the directors intended and should be left alone.
Yeah; they literally rushed the film while still wet to the theaters, that's how short on time they were. Robert Wise finally got the chance to finish the film and get some stuff balanced (more or less) with the Director's Cut.

I also saw a youtube video once that had a quote from Clint Eastwood that he was sad so much of Kelly's Heroes were cut from the theatrical release.
