MattyCollector "Mattel Hoverboard" discussion

Well, in that response, he learned how to put a positive spin on a lie. Even admits he lied (going to b sheet), noted he might have lied in another spot ( possible at toy fair). They justified the lie as usual and then noted this is the norm now.

He may be looking forward to the future, but with fans not being able to trust them at their word anymore, I think the consumer base there may not be so positive minded.

Well said. Not to mention that Castle Grayskull already costs over $100 more than the Hoverboard did. I'm eagerly waiting for it to ship, it'll be interesting to see how it goes over.

Additionally, I did get pictures step-by-step of opening the Footpad to remove the velcro strap, if anyone is interested.

Thank you, Vinz, for all those great pictures. As you had annotated via PM, all the decals fit well except for the top kicktail decal (the far back decal for the top of the board), which is 1/16 inch too short. I will correct this before I start my production next week. I will send you a replacement for that one decal, of course. Thanks for everything. And thanks to everyone for your patience. :)

Hi. I see there is a "gap" between the decal and the board when the kicktail goes up. Is that the problem of the 1/16 inch shorter decal that you said on the junkyad thread?
Can it be corrected on time?
Thanks!

The size of hat one decal will be corrected before I start my production. So this is no problem. Concerning the gap you mentioned: I think it's just badly attached. ;)

Off topic. Scott made way too may grammatical errors in an "official statement"

On topic. Outstanding job Roland

Thanks for the kind words, everybody! Glad you like the pics!

I'll post the "Opening Footpad" pics tonight. I've got pretty much every angle of this thing photographed - but if anyone's got any suggestions for pics, i'd be more than happy to oblige! It's suped up with the "Ultra" kit, and is VERY photogenic, hahaa!

Roland, as for replacement decals, you REALLY don't have to. It's a very minor nit, and I'm happy with my set. You don't need to send me a replacement, i've put you through enough as it is. :p I do appreciate the offer, but i'm good.

EDIT: Ojobenito, if you mean a gap between the decal itself - like it's raised above the surface, that's my bad. The velcro adds to the thickness, but you run your finger over that angle and it sticks down just fine. Just take extra care putting that decal on and there's no issues.

I think he meant this area circled in the picture below. I also was curious what happened with the silver stripe.

Vins, thanks for the update and also for all that giant pictures!
Sorry to be late on it...

Roland, very nice job you made! Once again, congratulations! (I sent you a PM with some notes).

Now I'm just thinking what version I will get! :D

And the videolog, Vins? Have you made it? ;)

Let us know! And if possible, I'd like to see more pictures of the board inside home with white fluorescent light and in a 90º angle...

Thanks again!!!

Circle 1 - That's on me, not the decal. I did not push down on the edge until after I took the pic. The velcro adds to the thickness, and needs some extra attention when you apply that decal because of the angle.

Cirlce 2 - You have to cut the tape to go around those angles on the side, because you can't bend the tape. Roland ships it as one long roll, just start at one of those corners (where it bends for the kicktail) and go along the edge until you get to the other side. Cut the tape and finish the edge of the kicktail. If you wanted to be precise, you could measure and cut the angles exactly and have it as clean as possible. I opted to overlap as that's how I like my hoverboards.

Hey Wes, What'd you mean by "Videolog"? I could film some videos of the board in "action" on my bobble stand if you'd like. I could get some pictures of it in my kitchen, it's got bright ambient lighting. By 90º, you want a straight shot of the top/bottom, right? Not a problem at all.

Opening The Footpad

1. Remove the Battery pack. Take this time to remove the batteries, if you haven't already.

2. Remove the Magnets** by unscrewing the 4 screws on each magnet (8 total), be careful not to lose them.

3. (If Decals are removed) Unscrew the 16 screws holding the two halves of the board together.

There is only one wire connecting the two halves, but still be mindful of where it is.

4. Remove the white tray, green piece holding the ball bearings, and small plastic ring that fits over the peg.

Be mindful of which order you took them off, and how they fit together. It'll make re-assembly easier.

5. Unscrew the peg (3 screws) from the white backing of the Footpad.

6. Unscrew the white backing to reveal the culprit. (4 more screws)

7. Pop the sides over the green pegs, and the velcro strap is gone.

8. Reverse all steps to re-assemble Hoverboard.

Now, I left the " " codes off the edges, becuase all my other pictures seem to show up really giant. Didn't want to eat up another 2 or 3 pages for this tutorial. Let me know if you want me to change this, guys. If y'all want me to, I can go ahead and make them all show. If anyone knows how to make the images show in the thread smaller, let me know.

**Always store and handle Magnets with care, as improper use may launch you into orbit.

EDIT: Actually, i'm liking that a little bit better. They are actually clickable that way, I think that looks a little bit nicer than the huge pictures.

i just noticed a small difference on the yellow corner on the kicktail, i don't know if it's been previously discussed or not, if so, i apologize :)
the yellow corner is a bit bigger on Roland's graphics, it doesn't bother me at all...just wondering :)
