MattyCollector "Mattel Hoverboard" discussion

With that question you are definitely in the wrong forum! :lol

:thumbsup

Killerfan, it's about getting what we were promised. We were told we were getting a screen accurate board (with lenticular!) and there is literally nothing screen accurate about it. The only way to judge screen accuracy, however, is to go over the details with a fine tooth comb, which this forum excels in.

It's like if you go to buy a car and you ask for a blue car, with leather interior and a gas engine; the salesman says no problem, sign this contract first then we'll get you your car. Then, once you're contractually obligated to pay for the car he presents you with a yellow car with a plush interior and a Diesel engine. When you try to complain he just blows you off and tells you how happy everyone has been with his service and that you should be happy you have a car at all.

THAT is what happened with the Hoverboard.

More over Killerfan, this is a movie prop collector/builders board, were yes, we do want to make our prop replicas as close to the screen used piece as possible. You think we are bad here, you should check out the Star Trek forums on screen accuracy replicas. :lol

Absolutely, most of the members here look to collect the best of the best in terms of items and many times because they cannot purchase them, put hundreds if not thousands of hours into making the most accurate prop replica possible. There are prop builders from the studios, members who offer advise and information from time to time and members who go on to work with the studios and have gone on to open their own replica companies.

Haha true, I think every crazy collectors that we are care a lot about details, in every kind of props... That's why. If everybody was satisfied of what they had, then the challenge won't even be excited haha

I actually have the 3d lenticular hoverboard from bttf123, it's pretty impressive, i just want to change the strap though, and make it "floppy", like it is non the screen accurate one, can you guys know how i could get one?
Clock88 was meant to send me some of his fabric but he didn't get back to me yet ^^', I really love my hoverboard, it's hard foam like the one from the movie, with velcro stuff :D So i'm super happy with it!

When you explain it like that, I get your point. I wasn't aware that Mattel had made those promises. And when I said "sad" I didn't mean sad, sad I meant Anal. That is the right term, right, for someone who has to have everything in it's place, and perfect? I'm not criticizing, I'm the same when it comes to displaying my figures :lol

Nice jacket, Emma! Funny running into you outside of PixarPlanet, hah.

Hey, Roland, is that new profile pic a hint of things to come?

It's a hint of things that already exist. ;) I'm already selling the "Tales from Space" comic and Markpoon is selling his version 2 of "Grays Sports Almanac" with my design. All four props on my avatar are available as free downloadable files, which I made. You can print them yourself, if you like. :)

Oh, wow! You guys are selling them? Now THAT's something I need to do a little research on! I'd be way more willing to invest in some nice quality stuff, than dealing with what my printer'll spit out. :lol

Roland, you are the Robin Hood of props.

No joke. I'm pretty sure he's a wizard.

I have the best girlfriend in the world! It's 12 days until my birthday, but she already gave me a birthday gift. You know, I don't like Matty's Hoverboard so much, but the mini Hoverboard is pretty cool: due to its small size it's more acceptable as a toy than its big brother, so the inaccuracies don't matter. And yes, this is what my girlfriend bought me: :love

On my days, I had this when I was a kid.brings back some memory's

On a side note. Roland , I have not been a member for that long and tend to look over all the old posts to see what's out there, and I must say you do some fantastic stuff. I will be getting into I myself soon, but all the stuff I want to do seems to be done so so well.ill keep looking

Was thinking of designing and building the opening table top device that the Pepsi bottle pops out of and having it in my bar, but pretty cool if I could work this out so I dispenses all the sodas out like this.
