Mandalorian Season 3

Agreed 100%.

Also, a lot of plus sized people in this episode. I’m all for body positivity, but as my wife and I talked about, that is not the norm in the Star Wars universe. I assume that’s a nod to the life of opulence and arts on that planet?

As for the cameos, the Lady’s Man last week was okay because he played the role straight (even if I was waiting for comedy), but good Lord, Jack Black and Lizzo were terrible. My wife enjoyed them, but I thought it was like watching an MTV skit. I would have never guessed either one of those people being a part of the universe, and essentially being exactly as I expected.

If this was my first look at Star Wars, I’d never watch it again. Season 3 doesn’t even take itself seriously, so why should I?
Isnt the planet a 'pleasure'planet? Hence them being overwieght etc. Eating lots of food and not getting exercise.

I think someone mentioned it but I too think this is a 'fun ' episode and the next 2 will be kick ass. I forget the exact quote but Rick Fukuyama is directing the next two episodes and said they were intense or exciting or something similar. I cannot find the exact quote now. But there is hope..fingers crossed.

That's hard to judge right now without seeing the whole picture.

In fairnes it should be a lot easier to judge at this point with 75 percent of the season complete. It definitely looks and feels listless.
Favreue seems to be a better idea guy/director than a writer after this season and BOBF.
I really hope I am wrong in 2 weeks.

I hear the argument that Disney forced Grogu back into the picture because everyone likes him, but that could’ve easily been done without doing it the way they did. Just intercut between Grogu’s adventures training with Luke and Mando doing his thing.

They could’ve delved more into the emotional aspect of Mando missing him and all that jazz.

They could’ve still featured plenty of Grogu without forcing this premature reunion with Mando. Just because he wasn’t with Mando doesn’t mean he had to be unseen entirely.
If rumors are true, it is possibly the most short sighted play an executive could make. Din can stand on his own in his own show and Grogu should’ve been used to sell the other shows to ensure they are as big of hits as the Mandalorian. He could’ve been a major part of Ahsoka, but now that he’s back, every series seems to be suffering, except Andor of course.

FWIW, I'd suggest anyone watching the show to check out some of the interviews from Celebration this weekend. Several good ones with Favreau, Filoni, & Rick Fujiyama about where the show has been heading, the plan for the story they wanted to tell, & the themes they wanted the show to explore.

To be fair, most of the vocal fans here will HATE almost everything they say. To each their own, but if you're interested in the mind of the team, then it's a great insight as to how everything could be heading in the same direction, whether you like that direction or not.

And yes... That direction seems to be the Filoni directed film that will pretty much be the Disney+ series Avengers-type culmination of all the stories.

I'm still enjoying this season and the show as whole overall. But someone a few pages ago was talking about the look of the characters. I feel like the pirates and a few battles felt like a Disney park ride. Gorian Shard could have easily been a villian from Captain Eo. And this week def felt like a Galaxy's Edge waiting in line before the ride story arc.

I disagree because to me in the moment now, it seems quite jarring how Din is becoming less important in the series that he kicked off, with a character already establishef elsewhere looking like they’re the main focus this season.

Why does Katee Sackoff always look like straining her face to keep from laughing?
Katee’s commented in a few interviews that she consciously has to dial back her facial expressions when acting without her helmet on. When she first voiced Bo in the animated series, she was free to make any expressions she wanted since she wasn’t on camera. But now that the camera is on, she’s has to exercise a little more control.

Yeah I heard about that yesterday. Why on earth anyone felt the need to mess with a formula that so many people responded positively to, I have no idea.

I’m sure some will like the new direction (or even prefer it?) but frankly I am just not that interested in Bo-Katan or the Mandalorians as a whole. I watched the show because I wanted to see the adventures of this lone gunslinger in this great big wonderful galaxy. What a simple, neat concept that was.

Well that is the final straw for me.

I happened to randomly catch the first episode of season 3. From the start, it was quite apparent that baby Yoda should no longer be in the show. His character doesn't affect the plot as it did in the first two seasons. Every time they cut away to a shot of him doing something cutesy, I had to chuckle because it was obvious they had an allotted screen time for him. It's clear Disney wanted him back in the show purely for "Moychandising!". Kinda hard to buy the cold-blooded lone gunslinger act now. Imagine Clint Eastwood toting a toddler along.

I think you've touched on it here. Favreau is more adept at making movies than TV shows. There's a pacing to writing television. You get the impression here that they're trying to stretch out a 3 hour movie over the course of a season. It's why there's so much filler. Even going back to the first episode of season 1, the pacing was not good.
