Mandalorian Season 3

I think most of us here are far from “haters”…in fact, I am SO BUMMED that I’m forced to hate this stuff. It’s my childhood.

I would guess many here have looked past lazy writing or sub par SW content in the past because we love the IP so much…but now it’s just getting ridiculous. This show makes the prequel trilogy look amazing, and I was always critical about that. If they can butcher Boba Fett and Kenobi they certainly can ruin Mando too.

I’m starting to feel bad I ever bitched about Jar Jar…:p

All the Disney IP’s are suffering, and Disney continues to bleed money. We’ll see if they can right the ship.

I hear the argument that Disney forced Grogu back into the picture because everyone likes him, but that could’ve easily been done without doing it the way they did. Just intercut between Grogu’s adventures training with Luke and Mando doing his thing.

They could’ve delved more into the emotional aspect of Mando missing him and all that jazz.

They could’ve still featured plenty of Grogu without forcing this premature reunion with Mando. Just because he wasn’t with Mando doesn’t mean he had to be unseen entirely.
Well, according to Favreau, Grogu was with Luke for two years.

It's clear Disney wanted him back in the show purely for "Moychandising!"

It’s like loaning your truck to someone that you trust and when you get it back the passenger side is crushed.

He tosses you the keys, shrugs and says “It’s still the same truck!” And walks away.

Well, crap....

Change the name of the show then, to The MandalorianS

I wonder if Pedro Pascal being a hot commodity right now has something to do with that? Rumors have said that he is rarely on set and usually only is there if he has to have his helmet off. Not sure if those are true or not, but I've heard of several other people playing Din and they weren't necessarily stunt people.

I really would respect Pedro Pascal more if he committed to being the character even when masked. It's almost like he said..."Well, if you're not gonna have me unmasked, I'm not really interested in actually playing the character fully. I'll just do the voice."

And while the voice of a character IS a big component, the stance, walk, gestures, and other body language can't be thrown out.

But then again, it could very well have been a cost-cutting decision by the producers, who concluded they only have to pay top money for a good actor for just the time they spend in a sound booth recording dialog, and a lower pay rate for the guys wearing the armor on site. Who knows.

Pedro, at the time, probably thought that it wouldn't be a big deal not showing his face and only be on set some of the time would work out for him and allow him more freedom in pursuing other gigs. But then the show took off and that's probably when started getting sour grapes over not showing his face.

I hope I'm not mistaken for someone who cares about this show anymore by posting this, but how is this a practical ship for someone who brings in bounties for a living? There's no room for a second passenger who isn't a small puppet. Have they forgone that whole element of the "faith"?

That's no rumor — it's well known that Pedro is rarely on set in the suit. It's been that way since the very beginning. Brendan Wayne and Lateef Crowder are in the suit 95% of the time, and at least one other stunt actor. When Mando is standing around looking cool, walking, or blastin' baddies it's usually Wayne, and when he's doing hand-to-hand combat or more involved stunts it's Crowder. Wayne has spoken a lot on various podcasts as to how instrumental he was in refining the costume and overall look for Mando, as well as defining his movement and mannerisms. Pedro was in the suit a lot more in season 2 because he was available, but otherwise he just does the voice and the helmetless scenes. It's much like a Vader situation. It takes a village.

He doesn't do any bounty hunting anymore, at least for the time being.

Bounty hunting isn't a specific element of the Mandalorian creed or "faith," it's just a profession many find themselves in because they're extremely well equip for the job. Boba Fett made a career out of it because it was his father's line of work, and he was raised by various hunters after Jango's passing. Din Djarin took to bounty hunting as a means to support his covert, but his (and his covert's) priorities have changed.

The Mouse Corp is like the Titanic: bloated and too arrogant to see the iceberg looming in the horizon...full steam ahead I say, full steam ahead until a major industrial accident will finally put their heads in place:mad: Too late, just too late!

This season the show has suffered from it's success. Not unlike what is happening with yellowstone, successful writer/creators stretch themselves thin over spin offs and movies, and the studio which previously had a "Do whatever you want with this, we don't care" attitude now takes an interest and starts to deliver notes and instructions. Everything suffers for it's success.

Definitely but there doesn’t seem to be a plan for an evolution which harnesses a smooth transition in my mind. Arguably S2 finale might have been the best opportunity to put the Din character out of the story for a season or two, then re-introduced him (perhaps with an older Grogu), where the Darksaber/Bo aspect has a more weighty feel to it.
I think Dave&John have a plan and the transition will start to move.It wont say in the name but I think “Rebels” crew is getting back together and their new adventures will be the future of Star Wars.

Don’t worry, with Disneys woke ideology they are moving at full steam only to blame the iceberg of being a “it’s” and getting in the way.At this point Disney would cut off its nose to spite it’s face.

Per Shawna, the Costume Designer on The Mandalorian and BoBF, the explanation for the Foundling with the leather helmet that everyone in this thread was ripping apart a few pages back, is that it was a Special Needs Child whose costume and helmet were modified and designed in order for him to be comfortable for filming.

I wonder how they are helping the special needs writers?

Perhaps, but that leaves me just as cold. Why not have their own Rebels 2.0 series, and still have Din as he was in S1 of Mando.

Why does everything have to be a vehicle for already existing characters.
