Magic of Myth ( MoM ) Luke RotJ Hero ( cave build ) lightsaber research, images, reference, & collaborative model builder's discussion.

I'll be visiting SW Identities exhibit soon, where the real ROTJ Hero is on display.
If you guys need any particular angle of pics, just let me know

my personal love to get is a detailed photo down the barrel. We think we know what is actually down there but a detailed clear photo would be helpful.

then if possible the mystery divot/ground down grub screw on the side of the emitter.

those two items I think are the last mysteries insofar as BRRogers' and my research.

Best news this week, no pressure... buuuuut...

:D thank you! Yes, straight down the nipple and the spot underneath the emitter lip, near the set screw side.

Ok, some exciting news related to the clamp cards:
As I’ve said...
I’ve been doing a TON of research into pcb manufacturing: both of the vintage and modern variety.
I am very excited to say that...
Not only will the clamp card have the accurate trace widths and surface detail in between... but it will be made with a blue pcb substrate AND a custom soldermask color layering unique for the 7Chambers “MoM” run.... unlike any Hero card to date and visually the most accurate ever attempted.
Also: 100% manufactured in the USA!
(I’m American, so sue me... We don’t get to say that very often when it’s the honest truth)

I honestly can’t believe I found vendors both capable and willing to do this... it felt like it took forever.

The card will be 2” x 18mm x 1/16” thick.
it uses high quality 2 oz copper on both sides. One, with the surface detail- and the other will be standard like we’ve seen before. So you can pick your preferred flavor for display.

In the above attached photos you can see...
-the custom blue PCB substrate (notice the edge)

-the custom soldermask layer colors (I’ve selected the “greener” of the tests).

-the comparison of the samples next to the original reference... hence my selection of the greener sample.

As we know from this research thread the cards’ coloration varies from shot to shot, but I believe these details will capture all of that variation.... represented beautifully in this card.

Also wanted to share this:

the ISYHCANL scene desperately needed color correction based off the Vader chest box, and reduction of green from the saber post processing.
I attempted hoping to see the natural tones and I think it worked ok.
Someone else please try it out to verify.

Not sure if UH preorder folks here on the RPF have seen it yet, but here's the sign up form for the trade in:

This is just a test, or an example if you will.

Here’s my control box, copper rail with copper traces, and the custom soldermask mix.
lighting type, exposure , room color, and the finish on the metal plays a huge part on how these metals appear.
You’ll note, that depending on the lighting and camera exposure you can kind of see where all the ‘variants’ of color come from.

and lastly, a comparison of three copper cards.
Slothfurnace’ on the left.
the burnished test card I made in the middle,
And an untouched sample from the new card run.
This illustrates how burnished copper REALLY can reflect gold, if recently burnished.

I also realized I never really showed off my finished rail concept.
So there you go :p

Found the ACE spray paint. Included that, two different material lightings here.
still liking bronze for its versatility in lighting scenarios
