lost boys MARKO jacket replica!

I just ordered one! Can't wait to see it!
I'm gonna buy one too even though I already have an orange and blue one from another source, I want to see the difference. Also, my current one doesn't have the molded eye from the factory and is only painted on so that's definitely a plus for the new supplier.

Several tapestries (screwed up cutting a couple untill I found Pennywise's cutting tips) Tons of patches, ( I bought all that were available for comparison SweetSynD, PopCouture, Patches by Sonya, etc.) Nine broken sewing needles, plenty of swear words, and several band-aids later, and it is finally done!!!! I half expected confetti to fall from the ceiling or fanfare.....NOTHING!!!! Its ok. I'm happy! My fingers are so sore that they are happy too.
Still need to do a bit more fraying on some of the tapestry pieces and then of course.........making it look dirty. I DON'T THINK I CAN DO IT!!. I don't know man......I may have to get my son to smack me in the butt with a boat paddle to get me to do it!!!!
Does anyone know a good way to do it without using dirt?

Hello everyone! I am ultra new to both this forum and RPF and am absolutely amazed at the community that's been built here! I am currently in the beginning stages of this massive project and have read through many of the suggestions and tips on creating Marko's jacket. So far, I decided I am going to make a 'Hero' version (If I can find the right matador) but maybe not go for 100% accurate. As much as I'd want to, I know I don't have the means to do so. I also decided I am going to hand paint both of the ladies to add a little personal touch to it.

I managed to get some patches from 'patchesbysonya' on Etsy and picked out ones I liked while I scour for the rest. So far, the main thing I need are of course, the tapestries. My gods what a nightmare it is to find them!!! If anyone has any extra ones or even scraps, please let me know! The Leopard one seems to be the hardest one for me to find.

Other than that, I will continue to look here for help with this ambitious project :))
I have scraps available! I also have extra patches too!! What all are ya looking for?

I also have scraps. I have an entire leopard that's already been cut, but it doesn't have the blue tip on the ear because the sky is red. So you would be missing the blue piece on the shoulder, but I do have the rest for the front, and the arm and the tail on the backside if you don't mind the ear missing the blue piece. I also had Contrado print off that blue corner piece. I was going to use it for the shoulder. It looks really nice if you're not picky and I started sewing on the border myself. I can send pics.

Yes I would love to see! If you look on page 67 of this thread you will see the pics I took of all my scraps. If there is anything you can use let me know. You can just have them for free because I am just gonna end up throwing them away.

Sorry I was trying to reply to RedBluePheonix and I couldn't find the post. I can still show you if you'd like but I'm not in need of any scraps. I have everything. Thank you, though!

That looks fantastic! Definitely one of the better ones I've seen, you did a really nice job.
As far as dirt goes I used General's earth tone chalk. Rub the chalk on some sand paper to create powder and then apply it with your finger or paint brush. A little goes a long way so don't get crazy with it, it's not supposed to look filthy, just "worn". Go VERY light, you can always add more but it's hard to get off if you do too much. Think "worn" NOT "dirty".

I could have sworn someone had the real vintage Viking patch but with a black background instead of white, or had posted a picture of one or was that just my imagination.

I was sure I did, but guess not.
I could have sworn someone had posted a picture of one awhile back. The reason I ask is I've been trying to do some much needed up-dating to my jacket recently, and as nice as the Popcoulturecrafts Viking is, there are some issues with it. The main things being the proportions are off, it's too tall, the wings on the helmet are off, and I think the beard can be improved upon. Basically I think the entire design needs to be changed IMO. If I can get a good picture of a real one I was going to have an "up-dated" one made available. The picture I posted unfortunately isn't clear enough to be scanned and digitized in order for them to produce an accurate replica. If I'm going to pay for a new design I want it as close as possible, otherwise what's the point.
