David Lost Boys Medal

Hi, we recently acquired a commissioned bust of Keifer Sutherland's David from Lost Boys, This was done by the very talented Andy Wright of Andy Wright Sculpture.

We wanted to have his medal as an extra little nod and although his costume wasn't really full enough we thought that we could maybe squeeze it on anyway. After doing some searching we managed to find what we think is the exact same medal that was used in the film.

It is a Belgian Order of the Knight's Cross.

The reverse of The medal sports a Crown and this seemed to resemble David's medal to a tee. After a bit of painting it looked like this:

Here shown on the finished David:

And with a bit of up-lighting!

Anyone looking for one of these medals will find one on Ebay, they seem to pop up quite regularly and vary in price from a few pounds to several hundred so pick your purchase wisely!

Stating the obvious here, but buyers definitely need to be sure of what quality level they're getting on Ebay too. Paying less generally means lower quality.

I appreciate what you are saying but there are a lot of people on that platform who are "chancing their arm". Ive found that a bit of scrutiny and due diligence goes a long way and we can't assume that less is lower. Speaking personally I've picked up some bargains on Ebay and that particular medal that I acquired was only a few pounds. As always "Caveat Emptor" and with reference to my original post, I hope that it may point fellow collectors and model makers in the right direction.

Oh I quite agree, less money doesn't always equal lower quality. But in my experience, if you're paying a very "lowball" price, the chances are the quality may indeed match the price. It's always great to find that fantastic bargain though!
