Lindelof Star Wars film

The Marlboro trilogy.
He's already used him in Knives Out, so I'd have no issue with Rian casting him in his trilogy.

Also, the once-great STAR WARS now feels like it’s being passed around in the back offices and casting rooms by a group of skeezy Hollywood producers. Abrams had his way with it, and then handed it off it all of his buddies to exploit and abuse.
That's about it. Something like 4 NEW SW story lines will be made into TV Shows.

SW sucks as a TV show. George was smart enough to know that while the SW universe is large and diverse, once you run SW through the TV show mince grinder, you effectively get a dumb soap opera. The only exception is probably Mando, but that will lose it's lustre after season 17.

Maybe (and that's a BIG maybe) if you get the mix right (directors/actors/screenwriters) you might get lucky, but it's a big maybe and so far is mostly drivel.

It’s over. It has been stripped of its morals, meanings, and messages, and the people running the show do not understand or respect it. It is no longer a work of art produced with passion and care. It’s become corporatized schlock used only to make money and to push sociopolitical messaging. No innovation, no heart. Just cannibalization and navel-gazing and exploitation and hacks looking to put their mark on it and/or use it as a stepping stone for other projects.

All things have their time. Learn to let go.

This is very appropriate. There’s an underlying moral thread running throughout Lucas’ work. He consistently urges people to break out of their humdrum lives and do extraordinary things, to cherish family and friendship, to be selfless instead of selfish, and to not be greedy and possessive and controlling. To learn to love and accept life in all its forms, and also to let go of things. To embrace the natural order of the universe.

We’ve seen the exact opposite of all this with Disney’s STAR WARS. Endless greed and selfishness, and creepy, unnatural efforts to keep franchises (and even long-dead actors) alive forever and ever and ever.

On the other side of the coin is the premise that the new TV shows are introducing the SW universe to a new generation. And that is very true. My son is 30 and has never been a SW fan or even interested in it, but stumbled on Andor and loves it. I find Andor mostly unappealing.

Lots of people are loving SW TV and I watch it all to find something from the movies I grew up with, but there is really nothing I like in SW TV.

There are some people in the creative departments of Disney who seem to really care about creating something of value that appeals to many fans, but they are few and far between.

The TV shows will not win over a new generation of long-term fans any more than the Disney movies have.

They are disposable entertainment which appeals to people on shallow/eye-candy/subversive/political levels, and do not possess the deeper moral/thematic truths, subtext, and emotional staying power of Lucas’ films.

Baby Yoda is a fad because of the cute factor. ANDOR is a fad because it’s different from the norm and “deep”. Fads and novelty always wear off. As does style over substance.

In five years, no one will care.

I guess I missed the part of Andor that was really deep? Oh well. Maybe if I rewatch it I'lll find all of the awful things that the "discerning" SW fans are above.

I'm still waiting for a SW sitcom set in a cantina. "Cheers" in space. It should definitely feature John Ratzenberger as a retired Rebel General sitting next to his best friends, some fat alien guy. The Taika Waititi Scout Troopers can pop in now and again. Every now and then a random smuggler would blast someone in the corner, flip a coin to the bartender, then just walk away. I'd watch that.

I think we’d all watch that.

This is not the worst idea. Even as a one-off, it could be pretty good.

Hmmm somehow missed this.. wonder if he’s gonna make Luke’s island time travel..

While I've enjoyed pretty much all of the Star Wars stuff that's come out since and including the ST, I'm not looking forward to this. I can't say that I've really like anything that Lindeloff has written. And if past history has shown us anything, this project will end up being very divisive with fans either loving it or hating it, like just about everything else that he's worked on.

Well, I'm excited. To me, he should've been in charge of the ST instead of JJ all along. Watchmen was great, The Leftovers was genius. This has a lot of potential to me.
