It actually is that dumb!

Death is for other franchises, not Star Wars…

How in the hell could George NOT be upset by what Disney has done to his franchise?

I guarantee you he's upset. What he says or does publicly is a different matter.

These franchises are huge corporate product lines. A single quote from some of these people can make a stock price move. Nothing that George Lucas says about current Disney should be considered candid.

I wanted to post a video here, but I was afraid of it being marked as political. But go to YouTube look, up “O’Keefe Media Group” and look for the video from three days ago with a Disney VP. It pretty much confirms what we all already knew.

I didn't want to post about it either but sadly, this is what Hollywood has become. They took something that everyone loved and politicized it. A lot of us recognized it and we were called toxic for pointing it out.

It's not even a question anymore if those in charge care about Star Wars or the fandom. They don't, never did, and probably never will. The only question is why fans still give these frauds the benefit of the doubt.

oh most definitely. He is upset and all but that doesn't mean they can twist his words to fit an argument like on that video.

This is the part i dislike about the current state of the fandom. It's so polarized that its either all the love or all the hate. We need to be more objective.

Fair point.

I've got no love for intentionally misleading rage-bait either.

There are quotes saying Lucas is happy with the direction Disney is taking with Star Wars too although in general, his sentiments have been mixed to arguably negative.

Notable points are:
- he disliked TFA for basically being a remake but suspected fans would enjoy it
- said he thought TLJ was beautifully made but didnt really comment on the story
- no comments for RoS
- liked Mando season 1
- recent comments reveal he thinks Disney doesnt understand the force and filmmaking is evolving which is another reason why he sold.

Lucas has always been more focused on tech and visuals so I suppose I can see why he liked TLJ. While questionable lore, the scene of Holdo lightspeed smashing the ship is quite beautifully shot as is the rebels floating in space. TLJ is also probably the most "innovative" of the ST in terms of worlds (although I do think it has alot of "retro" like the salt planet basically being Hoth but salt instead of snow).

Pretty sure part of selling Star Wars also gave Lucas alot of Disney stock so saying bad things about Disney Star Wars and tanking their stock would be hurting himself as well.

I've been going through old 95- issues of SW Insider magazine and the thing that sticks out to me is how they talked about their projects and the fans versus now. Rick McCallum, doing a Prequel update Q&A, regularly says they are making them for fans and that, usually after being asked about FX, says the story comes first. Almost all projects, be it games, books, or whatever, the people involved say the story is first. Then other articles, in particular an interview with Dustin Chin (LucasArts, about Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight) said basically that fans are loyal and fickle and in most cases know more about SW than they do, so they owe it to them to make a good product. Compared to now where actors and Lucasfilm employees regularly attack fans for real criticism.

Those were some great times. I really believe that today's polarization comes from social media algorithms more than anything.

Well….George’s motto may well have been “The story always come before visual effects”….

But, I think that there must have also been a second part of the motto that was “…and ‘the cutes’ and the merchandise always comes before the story.”
