Am I crazy to think this could actually work…

I can't answer your question, but with Del Toro being a creative mind who makes good entertaining movies, there is a tiny possibility it could NOT work.
A story about Jabba sounds definitely more interesting than a movie about Solo (didn't like it) and the future Lando movie (don't need that). I just would have wished that Del Toro uses a puppet for Jabba, and no more 8th design reincarnation of this character. All CGI models until now looked terrible...

CGI Jabba is another one of these frustrating situations. There is no excuse for it to look bad all the time. They could put in the work and make it look like the 1983 puppet. It's not that hard.

I was looking at an old 2002 or 2003 SW Insider mag and they had an article about Revenge of the Jedi merchandise. They mention the name change rumors like revenge not being Jedi-like, or it being a title to flush out bootleggers. However, even though I read the article 20 years ago, I forgot that they say that Lucas said it was to hide the plot of ROTJ. He says the Jedi in the Return of the Jedi title is not referring to Luke, which I've always assumed, but Anakin. That's actually pretty cool. Has anyone else heard that? It could be him revising things because it was around the Prequels, but still a cool idea anyway.

I've never heard that before.

I dunno. It's possible but I wouldn't bet a lot of money on it. It does sound like the type of thing that Lucas would come up with after-the-fact.

All these years I never thought of that…. Holy crap

Yes indeed. I don't remember where. I used to read Insider religiously back then, when it was interesting.

I don't know how many people I've seen swoon over Hayden doing Matt Lantern Anakin, who was doing Hayden's.... actually he wasn't doing Hayden's Anakin. Matt Lanter was doing own thing.

It's unfortunate they're so willing to tarnish George's films. Even though it strangely, makes sense. The fans that grew up with that show are adults now, clamoring for more of the same. And George seemed to be purposely re-writing the Prequels with that show.

And yeah the Prequels aren't the best films. But still. They're a part of the core saga. In my mind they should be at the top of the "canon" tier. But instead TCW had been elevated above the films.

Why do stormtroopers NEVER use the stun setting? Other than when Leia was captured on the Tantive IV, troopers just swarm the rebels and hold them at bay with guns pointed: "Freeze! You rebel Scum!" or something similar. Why don't the troopers "Set for stun" and....

Just.
Pull.
The.
Trigger.

Happened in the latest Ahsoka; the troopers surround Ezra and Sabine to hold them at bay until Shin orders the kill.

Because thanks to Disney and that hack -Taika Waititi- stormtroopers being morons is now canon.

Ron , sir you are the Statler to my Waldorf!

Why?

Because the recognition of iconography is more important than story and that's all Star Wars is now. Imagery. At this point I kind of see it as a high gloss display case of Star Wars collectibles. It just happens to be televised.
And it's not just Star Wars iconography. Dave has slathered Arthurian and Nordic iconography in the Ahsoka show. But from I've seen. It doesn't seem to go much deeper than the costumes and names of the characters.
