Its Force Friday today! Best get down to my local toy megastore and ...

..nevermind.

Hasbro Exec 1: "Hey, Blade Builders has been a disaster. How do we reinvigorate the brand, and make kids buy toy lightsabers again?"

Hasbro Exec 2: "I know! Let's make them look like cheap, knock-offs! Kids will love the generic, off-brand look!"

Hasbro Exec 1: "Genius! I want the stores filled with this cheap, overpriced garbage by Triple Force Friday!"

Hasbro Exec 3: "Wait, we're still doing Triple Force Friday?"

So here's my question.

I got myself a Hot Wheels X-wing the other day, because.....well because I wanted another X-wing in my collection. And noticed that it has this odd feature.

The lower engine nacelles are shorter, or the upper ones are longer. Stranger yet, my Hasbro Micro Machines X-wing, Titanium Series X-wing, and Black Series Poe Dameron X-wing, all have the same thing. What's going on? Where's this incorrect design coming from?

I'm not a studio model expert, but I think some of the OT X-Wings had different engines were some were longer.

Midichlorians have been around since the beginning. The Rinzler Making of ANH has notes where Lucas talks about them. I initially thought it was stupid, but it doesn't change anything. It just means the more you have, the more ability you have to connect to the Force. It's like having more antennae. As for the Rule of Two, you can't really sneak around if you have 10,000 Sith.

Ehhh... If Midichlorians we’re around since the beginning then it’s highly likely it was deemed yet another one of Georges bad ideas and is exactly why Gary Kutz stepped in and created the more religion based almost spiritual like description we got of the Force for ESB. I’ll leave you guys to decide who ultimately did it better

Custom sabers are a mixed bag for me, but I really love the combination of parts on this one. It's a very cool looking hilt and it'll look even cooler when finished and lit up.

Thanks!

I took elements from my top 3 favorite lightsabers to design this one. Those being the 'Skinnyflex', Qui-Gon, and ROTJ Yuma/Hero.

Jedi Mind Trick question. When Obi Wan uses the mind trick on the Sandtrooper checkpoint, is he only affecting the one that repeats what he says? I ask because you'd think the other Sandtroopers would be saying "Uh, sir those aren't our orders, these droids need to be checked out." To work it would have to work on all of them. Not to mentioned you'd think any Imperial troops would be trained that if they hear someone repeating something they might be dealing with a Force user. I remember in the Rise of Darth Vader book one of the clone Commandos is talking to a Jedi and tells him that the other three commandos are listening in and if he repeats anything the Jedi says they would take him out. Seems like the Stormtroopers would know that.

I was over watching football with my dad and they had a commercial for that new SW movie and the Emperor says something. My dad says "I thought the Emperor died?" and I just said "Yeah...".

I hope to god he stays dead.. I have a feeling I’ll be walking out of the theater..

Ooh, that's a good question/point I've never seen brought up before. As for the training, though, at this point in time you could probably handwave that away as sheer complacency - Tatooine is really a lawless place despite the Imperial presence, as in they largely don't give a crap aside from being draconian jerks. Since it's been nearly 20 years since the Jedi Order's genocide, troops stationed on a backwater planet may not even think about encountering Jedi anymore and not recall or concern themselves with keeping an eye out for signs like that.

Petition to just rename The Rise of Skywalker as The Emperor's New Groove. :p

Most likely he mind tricked the whole bunch of them. Considering how he's able to trickthose two on the Death Star into thinking they hear something.

You can tell you dad what JJ said.

"Some people feel like we shouldn’t revisit the idea of Palpatine. And I completely understand that. But if you’re looking at the nine films as one story, I don’t know many books where the last few chapters have nothing to do with those that have come before. If you look at the first eight films, all the set-ups of what we’re doing in IX are there in plain view.”

I can't help but think of this:

It's all a big joke to me anymore.
It's not like the bad guy "dying" and coming back to be a pain isn't exactly new to a fantasy story.

This bad guy "died"(though technically his body had been destroyed much earlier when Númenor was destroyed by Eru Ilúvatar) and came back twice to be pain.

I always interpreted it that he was talking to the officer in charge and it was only made so audible for the audience and the rest if the guys only got the memo from the boss that these guys can go.

You and your gifs man... Simply saying Sauron would have done it really.

No its not a new concept by any means, especially in this type of genre. Though it just feels lazy in this case when the previous two episodes didn't have him as the lead villain only to show up at the last minute. To me it also feels like a lack of confidence in their new characters too. I mean why not have Snoke come back from the dead? Or have Kylo go full evil? Why does the Emperor have to even be in the movie? I thought this was the Skywalker saga, not the Palpatine saga?

Once again they choose to pull from the past rather than trust that their story is strong enough to stand on its own.

I don't need constant recognition of characters or scenarios in order to be invested in the story. What I do need is characters who are developed enough for me to get emotionally attached to, and for me this new trilogy hasn't done that.

Often I think this new story has had to rely too much on the past rather than have the guts to stand alone.
