Let's Talk All Things Star Wars (Again)

Does he like seeing movies in the theater in general? I feel like that preference has been dying faster than SW.

He likes when you drag him there, but as an adult he just doesn't want to spend money on it.

The price of admission would be worth it if only for the opening.
To hear that on theater speakers....

Yeah I want to see it again in the theater so if he's available, he's going.

I didn't see Revenge of the Sith in theaters. I didn't want to and still don't. I remember renting it and afterwards being thankful that I was at home and disappointed. Not having to have the walk out of the theater after watching a bad movie. Which is a feeling that I hate.

I remember taking the Revenge of the Sith books off my list. I planned to get the novel, making of, and art books. I sat down and paged through the art book and making of in a bookstore. And read a plot summary of the novel. I think I picked up one or two comics that dealt with the aftermath of Revenge of the Sith just because I liked some of the characters. But that was that and I was out of Star Wars for a long time.

The movie was on TV last week I think. I watched the part where Obi-Wan is talking to Padme in the sky apartment. I still like the little fountain in that scene. But I changed the channel after that minute or so.

However, I guess some really like the Prequels. So there is this Darth Vader diorama bust that just went up for pre-order on Sideshow.com from PCS for $2200. A bit busy yet it does tell Anakin's story. PCS has a few Darth Maul statues with diorama bases as well that are nice. You can debate between those statues and the new version of Hot Toys Darth Maul figure. People don't talk much about these collectibles here. But I like seeing them.

I will never miss my seeing it in theater because of the annoying teens sitting behind us doing MST3K through the entire movie. Very likely already shared this. My wife wanted them dead and I was laughing the whole time. I loved the huge scenes and the music was amazing but these kids behind us made memories for a lifetime. Every time.... EVERY TIME.... Padme was again onscreen, this one kid would whisper, "She is soooo hot." I lost count but it was a lot, a running gag and other guys in the theater started echoing it so it would fade across the theater each time.

But the super serious scene comes up,
,the funeral procession, and he whispers loudly into the audience silence, "She's dead and she's still HOT."
followed by the best Wookie catcall ever produced in a full theater.

Revenge of the Sith was one of my most anticipated films. I hadn't seen Episode I or II yet. But I had gleaned the general gist of the story. I remember being so hyped. I can remember borrowing the Clone Wars volume 1 from a friend. And watching the trailer for both the movie and the video game, which was on the disc over and over and over, again.

And then I saw the merchandising, the action figures, LEGO, lightsabers, everything, featuring Darth Vader, Anakin vs Obi-Wan and copious amounts of lava.

Everything hinged around Anakin becoming Vader. A color changing lightsaber. An Anakin figure that you could change into Vader. A small LEGO set that had the medical table, so you could "make" Vader. (Hasbro had something similar.) An Anakin to Vader three pack "Evolution" set.

Battlefront II let you play right up to the movie, and the key events. Operation Knightfall.... Man co-op play with my friend on his PS2.

Then there was that glorious poster....

And that Episode III Vader. Yeah it was symmetrical. Didn't look quite 'right' for some. But I loved it. And it was everywhere. (You still find it used on things.) I remember seeing the slightly metallic, shiny cover of the novelization at the library. I was drawn to it.

The colors almost "glowed." The way the light reflected off the embossed STAR WARS logo.

At Burger King they were doing a promotional. They had these cool cups. But mom only ever got water, so I never got the cups. But my grandparents were visiting from California. And they got soda. So they gave me their cups. Then she asked the people sitting behind us if she could have their cups. It was such a stupid thing. Paper cups from Burger King. But I still have them.:)

Then she wanted to get me gift before she left. I described the look of Anakin's lightsaber. (Having recently realized the design was meant to be the same as Luke's.) Not to be greedy, and take advantage of my grandmother, I asked for the basic non-light up version. She went into Wal-Mart, to go shopping. And I waited in the car, flipping through a Star Wars book. (Probably the Visual Dictionary or The Ultimate Visual Guide.) And she came out with the lightsaber requested! My father would rig up a way to hang from a D-ring, so I could carry it "just like Luke!"

Ah, 2005, and 2006, were good years for me.

The Fall 1979 theatrical trailer for The Empire Strikes back. Watch the whole thing, and see if you "notice" anything unusual throughout. Maybe you will catch it the first time... maybe you'll have to watch a couple of times.

For those of you who know, PLEASE DON'T SPOIL IT!

Harrision Ford is the trailer narrator!

I saw on Facebook people talking about Star Wars Ep.4: A New Hope.
Theres always that one comment of someone saying how it was orginally ONLY Star Wars, with no A New Hope or Ep.4.
Which in the orginal 1977 release, is true, with the rest being added around April of 1981.
But, from what I've read, George did at least have it saying Episode 4, but the studio convinced/made him take that off, as it would confused people of where 1-3 were at.
Makes since.
Of course he wrote a ton of different drafts and scripts, each one being quite different from another, and each one having a bit of a different title altogether.

But I am wondering, as one of the final script drafts, if "A New Hope" was also always part of the title, just taken off as well for the 77 release?
I did find this off google images, with the full name, and dated January 15th, 1976.
Of course, with so much fake stuff out there, was just wondering if anyone knows if that's completely how it all went, full name and Ep 4, and only became just Star Wars at the time because of the studio.

I think the Jedi & Force have overly dominated SW since the prequel era.

They have set up the Force to be the end-all of the Universe. If you can control the Force, you can control any-and-every-thing.

It would be nice to have some other power/something "else" (whatever that is) that also exists, but is not tied to the Force.

Don't believe everything you read on the Internet - Abraham Lincoln.

In particular where revisionist George L is concerned - Edge10

That music and the intro of Obi-Wan and Anakin flying across the ship and spinning over the side into the battle was one of the most hype-building and enjoyable moments of that movie for me. Too bad most of the rest of the movie sucked with only a few other enjoyable parts...but hey, more than Ep II so there's that lol.

That wasn't true at the time, I actually saw it twice opening night(in Korea while I was stationed there), because I thought it was better than it was. I don't hate it, but after multiple rewatches, things just started falling apart and the more I watched the less I liked it. Now like the other two PT movies, I only watch the parts I like if I catch it on TV or clips on Youtube if I'm feeling it. That being said, I love the soundtracks that came from them, and do listen to them quite often, especially when out on runs.

The opening of Revenge of the Sith was good right up till Anakin says this is where the fun begins or something like that. Then came the silly scene with the small bots attacking the ship. I thought it was too much of a joke scene and I was asking myself why isn't he using the force to push them away since the bots were really close? Then when R2 destroyed the mechs that were killing Jedi in Episode 2, my fears going in that the movie wasn't going to be that good were confirmed. I still thought maybe just maybe I would be wrong. It's an up and down movie. But overall, I can't watch the whole thing again.

The Prequel soundtracks are good though. I believe I have 2 of the 3. But it's odd that Rise of Skywalker didn't have any memorable music. I was really surprised by that. I don't have the soundtracks to any of the Sequel movies.
