Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's**New Maps at start of thread**

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Simon, totally understand mate, she's not a quick build, maybe 2/5 years is reasonable, more likely 5 with me personally & she's a wallet sucker too, so I think your'e brave pulling out & putting your talents elsewhere.

Be great to have you still on board though & I'd be keen on some of your aquired bits/pieces.

Admittidly, I'm shifting between projects too, back on the 1/12th X-Wing, I really need to get that done & of course the future 5' Falcon sets too.

Martyn, wicked find on the CB750 part mate, always wondered where that 'box' came from, many thanks.

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Nick, I'd make sure to search on multiple terms. Search on "1/35" and "Elefant", search again on just "Elefant", again on just "1/35 Nichimo", and then start with "Elephant" and so on....anticipate other people's spelling mistakes and odd descriptions. There was a Fugimi Valentine for sale the other day, for example.

:( Wondered where you had been, Simon. Oh well I guess. Hold off on selling the kits for a while on the off chance you might change your mind. If not, I'll 'ave yer Kettenkrad and 1/48 Bandai stuff. :p

Stu I didn't really think of it as a find TBH! Well known part if you're an Ma.K guy but I couldn't spot it on any of the existing maps.

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Hi everyone,
Simon, count with my casts of anything regarding the 5 footer when you get back at it in the future. Good luck with your other models mate:thumbsup

I found a donor kit it was not in my Falcon log. Remember those triangular things on the radar side mandible, well they belong to the 1/35th Tamiya Saladin MkII Armored car, here is the pic:
Did anyone knew, or was it just me out of the loop?:lol

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Well, I didn't know Rod, awesome find.(y)thumbsup

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Me either - nice one, Rod! I always kind of wondered why they bothered to replace that one part, but not paint it. Weird. Looks like the kit donates other bits too, always nice. :)

Edit: couple of minor finds - more Saladin parts are scattered around - I think maybe it is also our source for some of the small rectangular chamfered-edge panels - one has been pegged as 1/48 Hetzer up to now. Can you confirm?

Oops, yes I had already got that one but its on a map I haven't got round to finishing up with. Sorry! -don't think there's anything else like that you guys haven't already got.

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Quick note, the 1/24 King Tiger part on the port mandible inside face (map MF007) exists in the 1/24 Panther kit and is more likely sourced from this kit.

Anyone yet spotted any unambiguous 1/24 King Tiger stuff? I suspect that it is not required.

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Good eye on the Bandai Bonanza Martyn, id maybe check a couple of other 1/48 light aircraft as there used on at least another famous ANH ship.

Oh, any chance you guys are done with buying Kenworth's lol, im kinda not sure whether id be stepping on toes bidding, but i need one at least, and there seems to be a LOT of insane folk who actually build trucks out of the AMT boxes :lol.

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

I know! It's such a waste! :lol

I haven't got one yet but wasn't about to nab one this week. Still chasing a second Ladder Chief, but all the damn sellers ATM won't ship outside the US. Ta for the light AC tip - I had already been wondering about some of the engines scattered around on the plating, looks like a possible source.

Speaking of the Ladder Chief, I can confirm that is the required La France version. You get the right chassis and engine parts with the regular firetruck too (I assume), but only the Ladder Chief has this bit:

Of course my kit was a started, incomplete one. Guess which bit was missing? :unsure But it's shown on the box art. Part of the extending ladder frame. Teeeeepical!

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Thanks Simon, but you probably might as well flog that one. Gonna have to grab another Ladder Chief since I'm missing the critical bit with the one I have. I'll grab yer Mustang if you don't want it though? And Zundapp and prolly other stuff. LMK, I can pop over on the weekend (if my ***^(&^&%&%% migraine ever lets up).

In the meantime, a few more minor finds. First has some known stuff but as it is all the same kit I highlighted everything for the sake of completeness...

Edit: Kettenkrad. Kettenkrad! Not Zundapp. WTF? Stupid migraine.

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Another find. I must surely be redundant with some of these, not at my best today.

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Martyn, Quite a few of those light aircraft in 1/48 have been re-released by Minicraft and may even be in your local hobby shops!! :cool

The current Minicraft catalogue shows the following; Cessna 150, Cessna 172, Beech Bonanza, Piper Cherokee & Piper Super Cub. These may not all be Bandai re-pops, but some are.

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Good work eith those maps Martyn!
I had forgotten about the Panther radiator and was just going to ask about it
so thanks mate.
About the minicraft kits, the Bonanza seems to be the same one. I have the Bandai Bonanza and I got a picture of the minicraft sprue and they look the same.
What other minicraft plane do we need? There are lots of them in my local hobby shop and have never known what other one to buy.
Let me repeat my self with this Bonanza map:)

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

According to a little bird who knows his stuff, it is the Aero Subaru, of which I have one on the way. :) Predictably it is the only one NOT rereleased by Minicraft...

Another few Panther finds, some of these bits have been bugging me for some reason. Glad to scratch that itch!

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Just a thought, Rod - those long maps of the outer mandible faces are yours, right? Are they thumbnails only? I cannot read them at all, not sure where the full size versions might be, if anywhere.

I *think* you have more 1/24 King Tiger labelled on those maps - am I right? If so, the parts highlighted appear to be identical to the engine parts from the 1/24 Panther.

I'm very interested to know whether we can rule out the KT in favour of the Panther or not. The only difference I think I can find is the engine oil tank on the port mandible. This has a hole in it - whereas the Falcon part doesn't - but it could be another first/second release kit change.

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Some great work being done in here. Not too sure whether the half cyclinder/ conical shapes on the sides of the upper jawbox have been ID'd yet but maybe the Tamiya 1/12 240Z is worth a look??

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Thanks kbilly. They're certainly Tamiya 1/12, my money is on the McLaren M23 simply because we know they used at least four of those kits. :)

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Thought this big Hanomag bit should have been used; went looking and lo and behold.

So here's an updated (read: totally bootlegged) Gort map. :lol

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Hey nice going Martyn. Bootleg away my friend. That particular bit had eluded me totally. Thats another one for the Tamiya Hanomag. Quite a popular kit on the big MF then.

Boy, have I got alot of updates to do, you guys are really cookin' on these at the moment....
