Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's**New Maps at start of thread**

Checked around and yes, Revell GMBH has the Matchbox molds. That is how they were able to reissue the old Matchbox 1/48 SH-2F Seasprite kit. Also why a bunch of the (as marketed by REV) "new" armor kits are to 1/76 scale... just not with the multi-color plastic sprues anymore.

thanks for sharing

Yes that is Thompson Ong's Falcon...its a beautiful build & his more recent posts are incredible.
Note though that it is not accurate to the 5 footer in most areas. He has taken the blueprints from either the DK blueprints set, or the print that came with the deagostini part kit, you can see it on his wall.
So his model is of a 2 X 32" based model. He has used bis own kitbashing everywhere as well.
I love it though & his skills are admirable.
The member here that built the SS Executor also has a 5 footer build. Beautiful build there as well, but again, not an accurate shape or part for part replica.

Ah... thanks for that info Stu, I was looking at the length behind the cockpit dome to the holes and was thinking It was a bit short, or am I seeing things wrong?
I have a mockup printed based on the 'Maruska' blueprint and I think it is slightly longer.. (From what I can see from the photos)

Which blueprints are you looking at?

My 32" were taken from an MR replica directly and should be pretty solid.

The 5' falcon is proportioned quite differently, the mandibles are a bit longer, more slender feeling than the 32".

That being said, Andre and I are reevaluating the 5' model after quite a bit of peer review.

Joshua, hope you realise that your 32" & 5 Foot (& Andre) blueprints are my bible,...thank you for everything you've shared

How do you feel about TFA Falcon asset?

For me the 5' blueprint is my bible also, I even got my baseform made... stil have to redo the domes. Did things change a lot?

And ofcourse, many thanks for all your so far!

Not sure yet. It started with reassessing the tube diameter (6" instead of 5.75"). That has a slight ripple effect on the rest of the model. We're still working through it. Fortunately our master model is parametric, so we can look at variations pretty easily. Then we run them through a photo match process to verify the model. Photo matching has a lot of variability, so usually we'll get things to where they are solving pretty consistently before we release the next version.

Guys like Eagle1 have really helped us pin down known dimensions with part layouts. Thanks to everyone who has contributed!

At first I was really annoyed by the CGI still images released prior to the movie. I thought the extra greebles along the back felt gratuitous and then the use of texture mapping instead of modeled detail was frustrating. They have access to the real thing for pete's sake...

Then I saw the movie, which I thoroughly enjoyed and all that didn't matter. ; )

Search for Thompson Ong on FB & it will come up.
I'm not going to post pics of his build here, I think its unethical to do so!.

Stu

Thanks man, that's all I was asking for, just didnt know where to look...was'nt finding anything doing a google search.
