Juggernaut *UPDATE 7-13-15* Suit UP!

Re: Juggernaut Hand Attached!! *UPDATE 6-23-15*

wow, how awesome are those hands! I'm in the process of making my own for a hulk build-I was wondering what you used for the hands as a spring mechanism to help them close and open? I've tried a couple different materials and can't seem to find one that will not be impacted by covering the fingers in foam. great build-really enjoying watching your progress. hats off to you!!

Thanks motorhead! I am using 3/4 inch sewing elastic bands. It provides enough spring to help the hands open and doesnt add any bulk. I will say that these hands are FAR from perfect. I cannot pick anything up, hold anything, nor do I have full range of with the fingers or the wrist. Part of the problem is that the hands are SO much bigger than my hands that I physically cannot move my fingers far enough to pull the cables all the way.

I borrowed Sylgian's solution for range of motion: finger tabs that mount the attaching strings above your actual finger. In effect, it lengthens your own finger making for a longer pull. :D we both 3D printed our own tabs but I'm sure you could make them out of PVC or something simliar. You can check his out here or my own here. Amazing foam work btw! You nailed the look perfectly! Looking forward to seeing this build complete. I know you're probably too far down the road, but might I suggest making the feet a tad bigger to match scale? Juggernaut ain't got no chicken legs! ;) Keep up the incredible work!

Lol MWiggs. I am using drywall stilts and am going to make lower torso the same scale as the upper torso. I should be about 8 1/2- 9 ft. tall when all is said and done.

BTW MWiggs, your terrain build is lookin awesome!

Re: Juggernaut Hand Attached!! *UPDATE 6-23-15*

Yep I was referring to the last two pics from your first post. I'm a stickler for proportions so I was thinking to match the width of the shoulders arms and hands the boots would have to go wider and the legs a tad shorter. :p It looks great just ignore me. :D Love the big costumes! Carry on!

OOHHH!! I thought you were kidding about my latest pictures and using my normal legs LOL! I scrapped those boots (death trap!) and got some drywall stilts. I do agree with you I will need to make the boots and the lower torso wider but the stilts are 3 inches taller than those and cant go any lower. Thank you very much for the advice. I welcome all observations and comments cause it will only make my suit better ;-D

Re: Juggernaut Hand Attached!! *UPDATE 6-23-15*

Wow! I was not expecting stilts!
This is looking like it is going to be accurate to the comic book proportions.
What design of Juggernaut are you going to use?
With so many different incarnations of the character there are a lot to choose from.

Re: Juggernaut Hand Attached!! *UPDATE 6-23-15*

This is the general idea.Simple and "realistic"

Some fun pictures of the suit. I took Cormac's advice and started adding another layer to the fingers. I think the thickness of the fingers is perfect with the extra layer of foam! The hands are MASSIVE and I like the way they are turning out! That is his left hand around my neck (and most of my chest) for a funny reference picture.

Re: Comic Accurate Juggernaut *UPDATE 6-30-15*

That's....... large....

Looking good. It'll be nice to see it with the legs attached.

Re: Juggernaut *UPDATE 7-1-15* Video Update!

The hands look real big compared to the rest of the costume, but I understand that's what you had intended,so on to the next step ! :thumbsup Great work so far

Hahaha Cormac& George! That seems to be the common reaction so far. I had someone comment on Facebook that simply said "anatomy plz". While I do understand the proportions look REALLY wrong on this, I have always been drawn to the disproportionate versions of the big guys. I am going to rework the fingers, the ones on the left hand are too fat and the right are too skinny. I will probably try and shave the 2nd layer down to give each finger some definition. Thanks to everyone for helping me out with making this costume better!

Re: Juggernaut *UPDATE 7-1-15* Video Update!

This looks absolutely fantastic! Love the mobility in the fingers!

Re: Juggernaut *UPDATE 7-1-15* Video Update!

I got some work done on the legs, It was really hard getting them to NOT look like hockey pads. The lower torso goes down to the knee cap, The boots will come up to just below the knee. The second picture is what will be my sexy man butt!

My first suit up! The two halves don't match up yet but after some touchups it should be ready for latex skinning. I ordered a gallon of liquid latex for when I mess up.

Nicely done. Does Juggernaut wear pants? they'd really save you a chunk of work in terms of trying to blend the top and bottom.

you'll probably need most of that latex anyway. I ended up using about 3-4 litres of it in my costume. i mix it with all of the acrylic paint.

I'll be able to put up pictures and explain everything i learned along the way in the next few days.

great work.
