Indiana Jones 5 officially announced

You know, when I saw the news yesterday about filming beginning on the new Indy, I debated for a couple minutes whether or not I should even post it here.

I chose...poorly.

Just for fun, and let's pretend this movie could be everything we could hope for, which relic would you want to see Indy go after? Is there a region of the world you'd want to see him explore? Maybe he doesn't search for a relic but rather a place? Like El Dorado, Atlantis, Shangri-La?

The Lost Atari 2600 E.T. Game Cartridges…

Legend has it that thousands of units of excess stock, that could not be sold at substantial discount, were secretly buried at a landfill in New Mexico in 1983.

This belongs in a museum!!!”

He could probably help out at Oak Island. They don't seem to be getting anywhere fast after 8 seasons....

My brother would vote for finding Big Foot. He's obsessed, really.

I always push for something in the Himalayas when it comes to stuff like this, though I’m not sure what, if any, readily recognizable artifacts might be found there. Or maybe something to do with the Dead Sea Scrolls, or the Terra-cotta Army? Although, those were both semi-recent discoveries, I think. Within the past forty years.

When I heard an aspect of the Roswell story that an archaeologist and his team found the supposed second crash site, I knew which story I wanted for Indy 4.

While returning some pre-Columbian artifacts to South America, Indy stumbles upon Hitler's bodyguards. The encounter leads him to NASA where he discovers Nazi scientists from Operation Paperclip who are planning to sabotage the moon landing.

Yeah, I still like Indy best when he's fighting Nazis.

Sabotage the moon landing? Ever see the movie Iron Sky? It's pretty funny (the Nazis fled to the moon when they were losing WWII in that movie).

Indy fought Nazis in two of the movies already. Surely there could be some other credible threat? I'm not so sure I can even trust certain directors anymore, no matter what they've made. It's been more evident than ever in the last few years that just because you have certain names attached to a production it isn't a surefire guarantee of success, whether it's an actor, director, etc.

Two things come to mind when it comes to the necessities to make a great Indy picture. What sets Indiana Jones apart from other action/ adventure heroes is that he gets in over his head to the point where he's about to die and out of pure desperation he acts and it's as if fate steps in and he overcomes to live another day. The threat of imminent death must feel real. That's why the Indiana Jones films have such great replay value because the danger is real and the stunts are done for real. With no credible villain or threat of death, it just becomes a farce.

Another thing I would love to see is some more dynamic whip action in this movie. This way Harrison can still do stunt work and be safe but it will also show how his skills with his signature weapon/ tool have grown over all his decades globe trotting. Anthony DeLongis showed him all kinds of skills that would have been so impressive to see on a big screen. Sadly each film has subsequently less whip work in each new installment. I hope they are smart enough to utilize it because it's so synonymous with his character.

Ooh, Mangold is behind this?
Loved what he did with Logan.
I'm cautiously optimistic now.
I agree. I let out a few holy ****s when I first saw it. Both trailers were fantastic, and the movie was even better.

But something to keep in mind: the Wolverine brand was fading, and Mangold and Jackman insisted that LOGAN be R rated, otherwise they were both out. It was go big or go home, and they went gigantic.

Not sure Indy is in the same boat. I'm expecting Indy5 to segue into a YA-friendly, safe spinoff/reboot.
