Indiana Jones 5 officially announced

You misspelled 'eight'.

So which one is it you liked? The original? Empire was vastly better than the original so at most I could see is seven, but other than the Ewoks and re-using the Death Star, I liked ROTJ too (Jabba and Emperor scenes were great).

The prequels weren't great, but at least they tried to do something new. These most recent three were rehashed plots with some woke crap thrown in. Daisy Ridley is the only reason I liked anything about them.

Starts filming next week

Kathleen Kennedy producing.... That will ruin it if everything else doesn't.... More "woke" garbage.

The one comment about the probable plot nailed it too. "Indy faces his greatest challenge yet fighting his white privilege and toxic masculinity."

Maybe Indy will come out as non-binary, half-calf trans-archeologist.... That'll be Kathleen's idea.

I'm just joking around with you.
I see an opportunity for a joke, I take it.
Some hit, some miss... you rolls the dice and takes your chances.
I like the OT, and that's it, Empire being my favorite. I actually think Empire is one of the greatest films in film history.

I think the “eight” he’s referring to are the ST, PT, Rogue One, and Solo.

Some people loved Rogue One. I honestly fell asleep for a bit at the movie theater (in 3D no less). I think without real Jedi, some of the Star Wars stuff can get boring, but then The Mandalorian disproves that as I actually enjoyed that show. My older brother LOVES Rogue One, though. He made me watch it again when he came to visit last year (I've got it in 3D here as well). Out of 1500+ movies and 250 3D ones, THAT's the one he wanted to see in 17.1 surround.... :D

At least I stayed awake that time. Solo was "OK". The main character lacked Harrison Ford's charisma and worse yet, didn't look like him while an actor I saw on YouTube really DOES (unforgivable, IMO as they knew about that guy as they used him as a Harrison Ford double in another movie).

Meanwhile, WTF happened to the Indy movies on iTunes? They were in 4K + Atmos for a week or so and then suddenly downgraded back to 2K with 5.1.... I haven't checked the past few days, but the last time I looked they were still in 2K.

I actually like the new Magnum PI series, for example and I usually hate reboots. But the guy playing Magnum is likable and even a female Higgins works for me there (probably because I think she's hot, MI6 skills or not). So I can't say "never" even if I think it highly unlikely.
I enjoy it as well. Jay Hernandez is obviously not Tom Selleck, but he is affable and likeable and his acting is fine. One thing I've noticed is that, to try to keep the overall balance of the show similar to the original, they have taken various traits of some of the original series characters and redistributed them to other members of the cast. For example, the new Magnum isn't as goofy as Selleck's version sometimes was, but the new version of Rick has picked up that attribute. And with Higgins being not only female, but maybe more importantly also about the same age as Magnum, they've taken some of the friction and mix of overall disapproval (and the slowly-developing reluctant approval and gradually increasing respect over time) the original Higgins displayed toward Magnum and given that mostly to the police detective Katsumoto as the authority figure. And you can't argue that Hawaii doesn't look stunning in HD, and I think they play up the setting more in the new show than the original did, as well they should. As to smaller matters, TC flies the same model of helicopter as in the original (maybe a newer one, but still the same basic model as I understand it), and the Ferrari Magnum drives (a 488 Spyder), while obviously not the 308 GTS we saw in the '80s, is the spiritual successor of the original. Both cars occupy the same slot for their time in Ferrari's lineup -- two-seat, rear-wheel drive, mid engine roadsters with a V8. Magnum still gives voice-over narration at times -- including the use of the line "I know what you're thinking" -- but he doesn't do it as often. I'd like them to use it more.

As for the idea that they made the new Higgins female for the sexual tension … well, that probably was part of the intention. But so far, after three seasons, they haven't really pushed this forward. Magnum and Higgins obviously care for one another, and maybe they will develop that more in the future. But the way they've played it, we aren't really sure how these two really feel about one another. It's my impression that is because the characters themselves aren't sure how they feel at this point. There has been some obvious tension at times, but it hasn't been constant, and it isn't the driving factor of the show.

And they were smart enough to give us an only slightly updated (if far too short) version of the original theme music.

I’d rather see James Mangold take on an original project in the vein of Indiana Jones. However, given the fact that Mangold primarily made Logan rated R as a means to escape studio meddling, and he doesn’t have a track record for pumping out studio schlock, there is some reason to think we could get something at least watchable.

Always get the DVDs. That way they also can't delete sections of the film to please the 6.1% of America who identify with the woke mob.

I do have the DVDs/Blu-Rays thus far. Obviously I'm an Indy fan. For goodness sake, I have more Indy props than nearly everything else combined....I even made Staff of Ra cookies! The iTunes copies were FREE digital copies. The UHD set isn't out until June 8th, but the digital copies were upgraded to 4K/Atmos in early May and then were downgraded for unknown reasons (timing?)

My god, 3 "ANGRY" people and counting at my Kathleen Kennedy joke. I can't help but wonder what they're angry about unless they actually like Kathleen's work.
