Grand Theft Auto V - Official Gameplay Video

Just before the release I played through Ballad of Gay Tony again and GTA V truly feels and looks like a next-gen game 10/10 simple as that :thumbsup 69 singleplayer missions and 500 missions for multiplayer and then another 200 coming later, pretty damn crazy, in a great way :D

For example, the Playstation's triggers are absolutely horrible for driving (gas/brake)

Which is why I never did buy a Playstation.

anyone playing this ?

Me and 95% of the people on my friendslist

How do the controls compare to GTA IV? Controls and camera, actually.

Everything is better in GTA V :D

Controls are very similar, both on foot and on vehicle, maybe a bit easier with cars and such. I think there is a difference between GTA IV shooting system and this one though, not sure but I remember that in IV, pressing the trigger half way allowed to move the reticle freely, and full way was to lock on targets, here it seems to always lock on target. Might be just me though, my PS3 controllers are getting old !

Can change that in the settings menu, auto-aim sucks, as always

I can't go 10 feet without getting 2 stars. People seriously need to stay off the sidewalks when i'm driving.

I have no console, but I watched a gameplay video and it struck me as terribly racist. But I suppose as long as you can steal cars and kill cops as multiple racially diverse characters, it's all good.

It's a GTA game, it's always been filled with stereotypes and a bit of racism racism here and there, it's meant to be taken as second degree humour !

Still feel guilty that I didn't finish IV. I love these games, and love NYC too, it should have been perfect. Somehow I kept losing the thread of the plot, and wasn't sure which mission came where when it came to picking the game back up.

I don't. I just got fed up with the battleship-on-ice nature of the driving physics, and the way the game obviously cheated and made you jump through hoops to finish missions. I gave up after getting pissed at the mission from Brucie where you have to go win a race.

This.

I bought GTAIV when it came out, and then (like many others) lost interest when I seemed to hit a point where I just couldn't get past the available missions.

Gearing up for GTAV, I recently started playing GTAIV again (that guilt over not finishing it) and made significant progress. But I've stopped again because the only available missions are (i) that same Brucie race Solo4114 mentions, and (ii) several missions that don't really start until you've first driven from the mission start all the way across the map to pick someone up, then all the way back across to get to the "action" (where I then die.) I get the "realism", but do I really have to re-do the 30 minutes of driving each time I respawn?

That was an issue with most of the GTAIV missions. Screw something up, and you have to play the whoooooole thing again. Very tedious. And the driving was anything but realistic. For that matter, the camera was always a pain in the ass because it always seemed to lag behind the character or the vehicle you were trying to control. Plus, the controls were always sluggish to respond across the board. It was that reason why I felt GTA IV was more an interesting tech demo than a good game.

I'm half tempted to pick this up based on word of mouth and reviews and whatnot, having previously not been excited about it at all. I popped in GTAIV for a bit just to familiarize myself with things and I can't stand how the cars respond. Tried a mission three times, only to get wasted by cops because I can't maneuver for spit in the car, let alone enough to drop my wanted level, or the second I leave the house where I have to kill people I get wasted by cops. Completely frustrating, especially after coming off playing through all Saints Row games where the cars at least handled well enough I could get from point A to B without incurring a two-star notoriety.

If the cars handle like GTAIV I'm out, if they handle like Saints Row I should be okay to give V a try.

ive been a huge fan since GTA3 but 5 feels a little flat and I know why, its a rehash of a city thats already been done. This was my worry for this game when they confirmed it was going back to San Andreas. Im still puzzled why they didnt go to London 1969, maybe on the PS4. Im also missing the 80's radio station and oddly find myself listening to the country music station. I dunno, unless im missing something, the excitement isnt there.

Within a few minutes of playing I found the armed helicopter and flew around the entire map but as fate would have it, I crashed into a bridge trying to loop the damn thing and its not respawned yet. Also crashed the crop duster into the wall trying to turn it around, its yet to respawn as well. Got into the (what looks like an) F16 on the military base but was shot by a tank on the runway.

Ive figured out a few ways to stock up on free M4's and such. If you snatch a dirt bike, ride to the entrance of the military base, the guard will tell you to turn around and leave, blast him with the shotgun (dont tell me you havent blasted some cops by now and grabbed a shotgun), hop the barrier to steal his M4 then imminently high tail it up the mountain to the left all the way to the top. The helicopters will turn around and the chase will be off when your at the top. Then just keep doing it.

The most fun I had on GTA4 and Gay Tony was stirring the pot and getting rival gangs to have gun fights then call the cops and watch all hell break loose. Ive tried to do it on 5 but its not working. But, ive yet to use the cheat codes. Like I said, its just feeling like a rehash so chalk me up to being the stick in the mud disappointed one. GTA 4 was five years ago, if in another five years we end up back in Liberty City, im done. Ill still be waiting for Just Cause 3 though. In fact, if you never played Just Cause 2 and are reading a GTA topic, I highly suggest you check it out.

It's actually quite easy to get weapons in this game, just by doing the missions I already have an arsenal capable of holding a rampage for a few hours ! Anybody else noticed that they are no cop cars in the street at ALL until you become wanted ? It's weird ... But once they show up, they are freaking good shooters, and they know how to drive !

ive seen a few police cars driving down the street before, accidentally ran into one while driving, he was NOT to thrilled about it. overall i love it, im at about 59% done so far, and have been playing pretty much non stop since release day. theres SO MUCH to do, its a bit overwhelming at times.

They have motorcycle cops on the side of the highways out in the country...I've seen a few pretending to look for speeders...I guese they're just there for decoration, unless you have a wanted level already, because reckless driving does not move them from their perch.

The game is a lot of fun once you get to the Michael character.

Cops are everywhere in my game......I accidently got ran over by one that was chasing after another car.....

Overall I'm loving this one :D looks amazing, plays great, fun story, awesome wow-moments that are usually connected to the crazy heists.

They handle very differently this time around :)

There are plenty of them actually. And I noticed that the cops in the choppers are terrible shooters. Yesterday I had 4 stars and 3 choppers above... with their search lights and firing on me, they hardly hit me in the 15 minutes they chased me :lol

Yeah and then there are the random cop shootouts, where they kill gang members and random drivers.

Broke down and bought it, just past the first heist and I'm just not digging the story. It's a technical marvel, but I just don't give a crap about the characters at all. I've yet to have a moment where I thought "this is fun." None of the humor is doing it for me, all the radio stations suck, and while I get the thought process behind it, I don't look forward to having to play tennis and spend hours at the gun range just to be functional later in the game.

The cars handle slightly better than GTA4, but not as well as I'd like (or I'm just bad at it). I've given up using the e-brake at all, I can't find the sweet spot where I maintain control in a turn with it outside of Franklin-vision. And would it kill them to give me a bigger targeting reticle than just a dot? It's bad enough figuring out what I'm aiming at on foot, forget aiming while driving.

Maybe I'll like it more as I get further in, but so far it's just feeling like all style and no substance. I worry though about a game that has me wondering "when does this start being fun?"

Never played a GTA game and said, "Oh wow, did Francis Ford Coppola direct this?"

That's not why I'm there. I'm there to see if I can get to missions jumping my car/bike through mountains while shooting the cops and killing deer.

This sums up the experience for me so far too. I got roped into a race, but the car i had was very slidey and uncontrollable.....no choice but to quit.....
Towing missions are BORING.....

I saw all the vids and was deeply impressed at how vast and beautiful the game world is.....it's just the game itself is a tad frustrating....

the driving is both a learning curve and part of the characters skill level that gets better with time. Ive maxed out the black dudes skills and ive only done the opening mission. Then again ive never played any GTA game for the missions. The shooting range stuff is easy and irritating but does anyone recall in the prior GTA SA where you had to have the character eat and work out regularly? I also stumbled upon that if you are being chased by the cops and drive into your hood the local gang bangers will shoot at them. Thus far the most entertaining part for me is banging a stripper that lives in a rival gang hood next to mine. its a run and gun right out of her house the next morning.

I've never played any of the GTA games, but bought this at Gamestop with reservation. I haven't opened it yet and part of me isn't even sure why I purchased it.

Is this one of those games you have to do story mode, or can you just wander around online and dork around at will? I just don't know how many hours you are required to invest in the game and I don't have a lot of free time to do a deep story game. I like games I can go in and out of whenever.

Is this not one of those games?

I'm just about halfway done, and have never gone to the shooting range or played tennis (aside from the time where they introduce it). Building those skills doesn't seem to be a strict requirement to advance.
