i was stuck at the first race till thursday night. what ended up working for me was erasing the title update, then making a new character. been working fine since then, barring a few random disconnects. once you're in its a blast

i was finally able to get the update installed and played for a few hours tonight, was a ton of fun, but i really wish there was a way to mute the people with microphones, i ended up with several spanish speakers, and i think some dutch as well, all bantering back and forth

I worked really hard on leveling up my character, had like 50k saved up, then the cloud servers went down and they're like "make a temporary character, it will not overwrite your main character" so I did, and they updated it, now my main character, my progress and all my money are gone and I'm stuck with the other character. To top that off, playing online all day, it froze my xbox over 4 times and I had to do a manual shut down on it. I liked it online for awhile, now it's a giant PITA.

You actually can, just bring up the select menu (on PS3, don't know which button on XBox), the one where you can go to your inventory and such, there is an option if you scroll down a bit to mute everybody, or just anybody that isn't your friends.
I do find the price of houses and such harsh given how little you earn on jobs. And when I tried to buy a car, I couldn't despite having the money... Is it because I don't own a garage ?

Do the smart thing, start an invite-only session go singleplayer, press start then go to Online - Play GTA Online - Invite Only

Yes, it should come up a message saying it requires a garage.

Didn't get any messages but you're right, now that I purchased a garage I can buy cars as long as there is room in it.
Little tip : the best way I found so far to make money and rep quickly is the survival missions. Especially the scrapyard one, with the broken planes. Do it with one buddy, and go camping behind the rusty cars in the alley on the left, you'll have a wall behind you, and except from one guy now and then who will climb it, the rest will have no choice but enter the alley where you can mow them down, the shotgun being the deadliest weapon for the closer guys and any other weapon for the ones who will go hide further being other cars and buses. Made it through wave 10 easily, several times, 18000$ every time plus thousands of rep point. Went from 13 to 19 in no time !

me and three friends did and still do a quick job that awards $14K in just 4 mins and 3K rp which is why I could save up $205K and buy my current apartment and reach lvl 40(started out on lvl 22) and my goal, being able to remove my white dot from the map "bye bye random idiots trying to kill anything that moves"

Then there are those that are farming the Violent Duct mission($9K every 5-10 mins), which is why R* removed "restart mission".

What job is that !? The survival works but still takes some time to complete...

Why add a restart button if we're not allowed to use it? :confused

If anyone wants to play online with me sometime I'd glady go into a session. I don't even bother with public games. I don't kill people I've invited into a game and I don't blow anyone's cars up. Overall, I and the people I play with have a pretty relaxed time.

The only times we kill each other really are when it's agreed upon first for some reason. Usually for laughs!

I concur 100% I'm just hopping that R* fixes the lobby's. If you start in a friends only you should come back after a mission or race...

I got my $500K pack yesterday I'm so buying a TANK this weekend I already have good getaway-vehicles, 335K apartment and a terrible looking character

Nitrox are you on PS3 like it says on Social Club? I'm on 360

ive still not even hooked my PS3 up to the net. Still using the cheats to try and get hookers into my helicopter.
