I never heard of patton oswalt before he became involved with Mst3K. I liked what little i saw of him in the telethon.
Didn't think much of him until he insulted the nerd for no reason. then, i saw this.
I guess we can welcome the newst sony shill to the club.
Although supposedly his wife was in the movie for a little bit, so, he might be just a tad over emotional about the whole subject, lashing out at people going against it.
Still, the whole james tweet kind of soured me on looking forward to enjoying him in the reboot.
seems like a typical hollywood goofballto me.

This one I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, given his wife died suddenly back in April. I have a hunch it takes more than a few months to get over something like that. As for Patton himself... I liked him a lot in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, and I love his stand-up. This is not to say I agree with everything he says, but I feel he's earned his geek street cred. I'm not gonna hate on him for liking the reboot as well as the originals. There are people who have been Trek fan since the '60s who like JJ's 1009 Star Trek. In both cases, it baffles me, and I can't see how they can possible reconcile it in their heads, but it's what they like and I'm not gonna try to invalidate that. As you said, the way someone phrases something can touch a raw nerve and boom. That whole comment string is gone now, from the looks of it. So make of that what you will.

That kinda makes me wish I had a Dave and Busters near me. More for the themed drinks than the game...but the game looks good too. Probably even better after a few of the themed drinks.
as generic action movies, the nu trek is ok. the cast does a decent enough job.
i'd hope this is the last one, but so long as it's in the hands of paramount and cbs, who clearly don't want to do real star trek, i have no hopes of something better coming along.
... and yet somehow the folks on the ground saw the lightspeed weapon streaking slowly across the sky and the individual planet and moons of Hosnian Prime exploding visible in daylight. I mean, ugh. >_<

You're right on all points. Here's the question...who finds any of that entertaining anymore? Every movie is the same string of seen it a million time cliches. Nothing remotely engaging, suspenseful, exciting, unexpected, funny, witty, scary, shocking or original about any of it. Nothing! At all! It can all be seen coming from a lightyear away. Have audiences REALLY gotten this dumb? I accept that as a society, we're dumber than at any point in recorded history. But, has it gotten THIS bad?
