GHOSTBUSTERS Pre-Release - film discussion only, no social commentary please!

Whether or not the reboot makes the predicted $40 million during its opening weekend will depend on The Secret Life of Pets that opens the weekend before. If Secret Life makes the same splash and money like Finding Dory did with the kids and families, then the reboot gets buried it opening weekend like the Independence Day movie did by Finding Dory. I see most of the reboot commercials on Nickelodeon and my boys groan and grimace every time a reboot commercial comes on. it does look like Sony is aiming this reboot at kids. But. pG-13 rating may hurt that. If Secret Life is good and keeps the families interests for a week or two, then the reboot will be dead on arrival.

Well, here's to hoping that the reboot finishes in second place or worst to Secret Life the weekend of July 15.

BTW, what is up with the reboot merchandise going on clearance, yes clearance, at Target two weeks before the reboot arrives in movie theaters. Never heard of such as thing happening with other movies.

LOL!!!!

If the Bill Murray gag is real then I think we may have a PC related situation coming up that has to do with making fun of ... I sincerely do not know what to say ... I can only see another pee ... err feciesstorm developing ...

Let's say this Twinkie represents the normal amount of negativity towards Ghostbusters. Based on this new movie, it would be a Twinkie... thirty-five feet long, weighing approximately six hundred pounds.

'quite recycling the old stuff mikey. try for something new!'

i wish i could save all these great quotes from the web and make a faux movie review poster.

two new favorites

'At this point I feel like this movie is abusing me.'
'You can almost hear the movie going "killllll....mmeeeee"

:lol @NeilT I suppose if and when I can take a look for free I'll check this unbelievable catastrophe out,and I just about one hundred percent guarandamntee I won't watch all the way through as it looks atrocious.

don't be upset at me for posting this, but this article is a little different than the 500 or so out there that trash fans.

I sometimes wonder about the point of these 'super fan' articles. what makes one fan any more super than the other? I used to get into that back when i saw 'super fans' getting jobs that i'd love to have. but eventually i came to realize, who cares? is it ok to be jealous, yeah. but what good does it do? they are there, you are across the country here, and you probably wouldn't have gotten it anyway.

I'd say more, but might be a member here ;o).

they spout a few sony standard lines at us in there too...i swear, any time i see misogynistic, my eyes glaze over, realize the issue talked about is a non issue, and just move on.
they need a new buzz word.

there where other things that made me ashamed to be a part of that community, but i didn't see any sexism until paul feig started brain washing people and came into the picture :).

I guess we forgot that kylie and agent oritz after her are loved around the globe, and thought of as characters, not their sex?

the infamous slimer spot.
There is also one odd looking stay puft shot one, where he kind of floats oddly through the air and beams come at him.

just pay full price for another movie (preferably a sony one), and go into feigbusters. AMC theaters are so big, no one will even notice you go into the wrong one. especially if it's in the middle of the day and it's empty.

Actually they probably will be checking each ticket when they do walk-arounds out of disbelief they came and actually paid to see it.

LOL all the trailers that are on Jo Blo and they block the one with the stupid slimers. I guess they don't want people to see that crap yet.

it doesn't work anymore? worked as of two hours ago.

wow.

maybe the 12 likes and 560 dislike ratio had something to do with it ;o)

Yup review embargo pushed back until opening day. This was taken from the advanced screening packet in todays showing in NYC.

"Review Embargo: By attending this screening, you agree to hold all print, online, radio and television reviews, until the film’s release date. This includes posting any social media reactions/reviews to Twitter or Facebook and blog postings. "

I can't find any news site reporting that yet just that one facebook post.

haha The one guy in that Reddit thread who is also asking for other news sources keeps getting voted down.

if you want to see it early.''of course, you can't tell us about it unless you are sony approved ;o)

Holy cow. I just read the non disclosure agreement and found this little nugget: " Individual agrees that any breach of this Agreement will cause Company and its Affiliates and Clients incalculable damages. Such damages include all costs of any nature associated with the Creative Content, as well as the incalculable management time necessary in creating and distributing the same. Accordingly, Individual agrees that in the event of breach of this paragraph, Individual shall pay Company, upon demand, as liquidated damages, the sum of Five Million Dollar ($5,000 000.00) plus any actual out-of-pocket expense, as well as any attorney fees expended in enforcing this paragraph. "

Talk about the movie before its released and we will sue you for 5 million dollars.

Its in the screening packet for NYC. If you look at Neils screening form, their wording is even more restrictive and doesnt give a specific date of when the viewer can talk about the movie.

Here ya go:

they must really need the money.

people on imdb are hoping sony pictures will go bankrupt and get bought out by disney. wouldn't that b e nice. if they can get james earl jones to voice a star wars cartoon, they can get ghostbusters 3 done without litigation

>>b.) Company shall have the right to confiscate, (including seize and destroy the contents of) cell phones, cameras, PDAs and any and all other infringing devices, and take all necessary measures to protect its rights. >>

'Bob, Mary can use a new cell phone. see who has an iphone 6 we can confiscate!'
