GHOSTBUSTERS Pre-Release - film discussion only, no social commentary please!

Luckily me and my team are in driving distance of the premiere. I'm most excited about meeting a lot of busters I've only talked with online for years. Got to experience that some back in March at the trailer premiere and this will be multiplied many times that. Also, unlimited Papa John's at the film premiere, so very excited about that as well.

Also don't forget the Ghostheads documentary will be streaming on Netflix the 15th as well, very honored to have been a part of it. Haven't seen it yet myself but heard nothing but great things about it.

Just how many Ghostheads will be at the premiere of the reboot? I can see some of the west coast GBs going. But for those of us on the east coast, air fare and a hotel can easily cost $1000 to $2000. And there is a chance our proton packs can get damaged or lost by the airline. I think only the local and west coast GBs and those with disposable income and time will be going. Our franchise members aren't even making the effort.

As for July 15, isn't that the same weekend as Star Wars Celebration? They will premiere the first two episodes of SW Rebels Season Three, a new trailer for SW Rogue One and give out details for SW Episode VII. With all this happenings, the reboot and GB stuff will just get buried. This embargo of Sony makes it look like the movie critics stand ready to murder the reboot with bad reviews. Then Disney and Lucasfilm will probably kill what is left of the reboot that weekend.

I didn't even think of episode 8 and star wars celebration being next weekend. if they stream it too, maybe alot more fans will stay home and decide to watch that instead.

I FINALLY found some of this fabled GB merchandise at a walmart here. seems to be the only star selling it. only they stuffed it away in the girls section, and have only 4 rows and maybe 40 pieces of toys, tops. all filled to capacity too, bTw. mwuhahahaha (I'm allowed one of these a day)

I saw that on GBFans. For Travis to actually research and compile that list, the guy needs to get a life. BTW, just because Travis list a franchise on his list doesn't mean everyone is going. In most causes it is one two to three people going from a franchise.

Oh yeah, definitely most of the east coast ones are at about 3 or 4 members from each, the closer ones are bringing around 15-20 members each.

as a defender of people without lives, sometimes researching stuff like that is the only thing that gives us something to DO during our no life day ;o)
believe me, having no life is boring as hell. why do you think i obsess over this crummy little movie? if I had something to do, i probably wouldn't give it a seconds thought ;o)
or at least not half as much this effort.

ahh, but then you get into the ''how dare you say i'm only supporting this because it has a gb logo on it', or some such variation on that argument, which would undoubtedly be the response.. and that, too me, is the ONLY reason i can see anyone wanting to be treated like crap. or maybe they just want to suck up to ivan reitman and dan aykroyd, thinking this will get them into future events that DON'T involve feig and pascal. Now THAT reasoning i can understand.

about 15 pages back I posted all that has come out of this project in the last few years from sony leaks right down to 'celebrity' interaction on twitter.
someone needs to update that to show all these diehards just what it is they are supporting with their money from all that has happened since then.

I can't wrap it around my head that someone is so desperate for a new GB movie that they will reward someone for this childish behavior. once meghan fox told fans to F off, that was it for me with TMNT. Once one of the tmnt animated producers told me to go F off and his yes fans told me to kill myself because i dared voice an negative opinion (and not a rude one either) on his creation...that was it for me liking this new animated version of TMNT and the movies. I am no longer going to support creators who refuse to get what makes a property they are working on so great, and act HUMBLY with the amazing opportunity they are being given. if you act like a philidelphia fan throwing bottles at santa clause during a hockey game, you don't get my support,.


I am going to be heavily annoyed by society if this thing makes more than $4 million opening weekend. down right down trodden, but hardly surprised, if it makes more than $20. from the last two years of out right war between studio and fan (and this is one rare instance where I WOULD bring up the REAL fan argument, because Dan had his idea stolen out from under him).....I want to see that people are standing behind their 'i'm not going to see this' attitudes.

And if you WANT to see it, PAY for ANOTHER movie and sneak in to feigbusters. AMC theaters are so big, no one will notice. that's what i plan to do. personally, i blame MST3K for my love of bad movies, so i want to see just how bad bad can get. and if anyone walks out or boos

At my local Walmart the new and old GB stuff is side by side and mixed in somewhat,I could see some young fan who doesn't really know the original being confused with Ray,Egon,Peter,and Winston sitting there.

Oh and it's the "boys" isle with SW,Marvel and the like,though this confuses me​ as I know some female kids who play with anything.

it'd be pretty funny seeing all the 'gb fans' moving away in circles from 'bob' and see bob standing off in a corner all by his recaster lonesome.

Wow.... ive just seen a soundbite from Leslie Jones about fans reactions to the new movie. she was commenting on original fans feeling that their childhood had been ruined... she said " if this movie has ruined your childhood then your childhood was already ruined". A touch harsh if you ask me and again.... not really helping to indear yourself to those who would most likely want to watch the movie. it still amazes me as to the attitude of salesmen... and at this point this is what they are. They are trying to sell the movie to us... yet they alienate 80 to 90% of those who would pay to see it with their glib comments trying to be funny but ending up being offensive.

check out the leslie jones interview i posted. she basically says 'comedy is too smart. america needs to dumb it down and just laugh'.

the entire thing made me feel like i just had a stroke because i wasn't sure what made sense.

some people are hoping that this thing bombing will FINALLY put sony pictures on the auction block. and seeing as how disney wants spiderman and xmen back, maybe it could mean a Ghostbusters franchise in the MCU universe.

Neil, I dislike this movie on principle as much as you do, but you're really overstating its importance within Sony, and the power of individuals within Sony, over and over. Ghostbusters could make $10 dollars at the box office and not sink Sony Pictures. It'd be a tax writeoff. There's no conspiracy to bother us with VideoBob's inclusion (just an extra who showed up and jocked for an attention-grabbing position like many did here in Boston) or to scam us. No one's trying to coronate or empower Feig; rather they were hoping to cash in on his existing box office equity - that was the whole reason for hiring him. Their whole plague on the fan community is contained in the crap movie, I assure you.

That's a VERY long list of people who are going to be very disappointed after that movie hits the end credits.

As for Leslie Jones, she's made me chuckle I think once ever in the very vast amount of material she's performed on SNL. And ZERO of that chuckle came from a GB trailer.

the video bob stuff was meant more as a joke more than anything. that looser isn't worth talking about or even thinking about.
I just found it a funny image seeing all these fans avoiding him and the production staff wondering why when goldenhawk said it'd be an weird meeting at best;o)


regarding bankruptcy..... granted, i don't follow this side of it as closely, but didn't they state in the email leak that they NEED GB to be a hit? Curious, but If not GB, how many more failures can they expect to take before things become bleak? most of this is just extreme hopeful wishing from me to try and get some good will back into the land of GB after the last two years of tenth level hell with feig.

the studio may not be, but Feig at least is hoping this will make him king feig if this is a hit. he said it at least that at a femenist convention in a video posted in here somewhere IIRC.

I know i get a little over enthusiastic with my musings, and sometimes don't know the full story, but i trust your words on this. it just gets frustrating seeing so few sites take this not only seriously, but not reporting the real facts. it's easy to drive one crazy ;o).

With all you've found here. You need a web series called 'The Inside Source'. give page 6 a run for their money!
