Still, it doesnt change the fact that they seem to be trying to appease fans with some changes after our negative feedback so far. It looks like fan power has a foothold in the Wood that is of Holly. Lets hope it lasts and we can get a few things made that we all want and not what producers want to shove down our necks. .
I also anted to address this quickly, since I saw something interesting at another message board.
Apparently one of the guys who did the Game a few years back said they had no plans to include gozer, or stay puft in their game. It was someone at sony who insisted on it.
back then, it turns out that WAS the right route to go, because it gave us a real ghostbusters three with a plot that came full circle back to the events in one....yet had enough new stuff in it to expand the universe even further. Peck and Pecock (?) for instance. making Shandor the big bad and getting a small insight into a character that was only briefly brought up in part one. expanding winston a little....further developing the packs beyond the slime blowers...
here....someone at sony, amazingly, had enough smarts to realize 'what this feig guy is doing will destroy what's left of this franchise if we let him go unchecked'.
So, hence we get a relatively unchanged slimer in terms of looks. a Stay Puft homage. cameo's from the original crew to try and sell it on false nostalgia for those who don't follow the behind the scenes stuff like we do(and to make it look like bill murray and dan aykroyd approved the idea from the start)... and hack job packs/ecto 1 that KIND OF resemble what we know, but are too hodge podge to be what we know.
The rest of Feigs stuff seems relatively unchanged since his initial sales pitch in the leaked email.
I don't think this is sony being swayed by negative feed back, so much as them trying to save a lemon once they realized what Amy Pascal got themselves into. hence wanting to try a go at tatum busters not more than a few months after the feig announcement.
I think fan swaying had more of an effect on bay turtles more than on feig busters. I think the guys at nick genuinely love the franchise and want to see it succeed, where as the guys at sony have no Freakin' clue what they are doing, or how to make movies.
