Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire

I *love* Ghostbusters 2.

*Stands proud and stoic*
I like it too, but had more issues with it than the original which I had no issues with, to be clear). There's some little things that I think could've been changed to make it better.
I know this doesn't really have anything to do with the actual story of the movie, more of a nitpick, but never liked that they changed the ghost logo to the "number two," "peace sign" ghost. It just felt weird in the movie. The whole point of the logo was for marketing the film as the 2nd one, so it didn't make sense for the Ghostbusters in the movie to adopt the logo - even if it was meant as a peace sign, it still felt out if place.
Same thing with all the extra crap on the Ectomobile. Just a bunch of distracting junk and graphics. Maybe that was a commentary on something, or maybe the studio wanted the vehicle to have extra bells and whistles to appeal kids and for toys, idk.
Moving on from nitpicks, a bigger thing for me was the score - I really missed the Elmer Bernstein score and the music from the original. It really reflected the tone of the movie better than the 2nd film. I feel like The Bus Boys' "Cleaning up the Town" is almost more of a theme for the Ghostbusters than Ray Parker Jr.'s actual theme song, so it should've been included in the sequel.
As far as the story, it had some goofy stuff with the happy-goo. I really like the first half of the film, not as much the second. The walking Statue of Liberty was a little much, and I hated the last shot of the movie with the painting of the team. Maybe those are minor point too, but sometimes it's the little things.

The re-designed logo would've made sense had they left in the extended scene with the commercial during the montage sequence. It's available on YouTube, but basically Ray explains that with the Ghostbusters' return they have "twice the know-how & twice the particle power", thus the "peace symbol" ghost. It didn't make sense to me either, but once I discovered that, I've grown to actually kinda like it. The movie overall felt geared more towards kids, especially with changes adapted from the cartoon (new uniform colors, Winston's shaved mustache, Janine's red hair, Slimer's redesign, etc.).

IMO the second one was a decent 1980s Ramis/Reitman/Murray movie. It wasn't a great Ghostbusters movie.

They seemed to be on the fence about how much the cartoon show should influence the movie-verse at that stage.

IMO the cartoon show was different enough that it deserved its own better treatment and continuations. The whole tone of it was different, with the GBs generally acting as respected & respectable heroes.

If the 1984 movie had come out after the cartoon show was already an established hit, I think the fans' reaction to the movie would have been more mixed.

The biggest crime of GB 2 in my opinion, is the absolutely terrible redesign of Slimer. I get it that it was an attempt to match the cartoon, but it didn't even do that. I didn't like it as a kid and I like it even less now.
