Fullsize Alien Warrior Build (Xenomorph)

How heavy is it? Also curious: Why chain and not steel cable?

I had to hang my 45lb 8' tall Queen crown alone, which also sucked. Using a block and tackle was critical to success, as was having a cleat (screwed into a wall stud) to tie off the line.

My estimates are that it's about 100lbs total. Not so bad on the ground but when up a ladder and you can only use one hand...lol

I used chains because they are so easy. Just cut to length and clip on. And they are easy to find the right length if you are not sure. Make them too long, clip to the point where it looks right and then trim off the extra.

working on the neck.. as always Aliens are all about repetition.

If I didn't know better I might say that looks like it was a pain in the ass.
You would be correct... you might also notice the front of the neck is different than it was before... I had the neck finished and didn't like it... so I scraped it all off and re-did the entire front and sides of the neck. :D

While I applaud your workmanship and detail-oriented project; I wouldn't open its mouth too much...just enough to have clearance between jaw teeth and the other set. (my two cents, of course);):cool:(y)(y)

Well it may not look like it.. but I ground off and nearly completely redid the mouth for the fourth time since I started this. lol. I think I am finally happy with it. I didn't have apoxie clay when I built it the first time so there were some things I wanted to re-do on the face and head. I haven't even sanded it yet the clay is still setting...

I plan on tweaking the doublejaw as well. I also spent about 500 bucks on paint and airbrsuhes, epoxy and so forth over the weekend. Everything is so expensive.

Satin base coat and first color applied.. This airbrush stuff seems easy on the scale I am working on. I'm sure airbrushing small stuff is a lot harder.. a little wonky here and there but I have a lot more steps to go so they will be covered or fixed.
