Full Scale WALL-E Build

AMAZING, thanks for sharing!

This is the million dollar Wall-E? How did we come up with that figure?

I heard it from a friend who heard it from his friend...It's the current rumor.
I'm sure he is at least that expensive if not close to that.

Those pics are AWESOME!! I can't wait for the "Ultimate" Wall*E to do a re-tooling on! :)

I wish I had the guts to do a full scale. I can't wait to see how your's turns out.

-B89! :D

I just got done watching the video in the pics link Scot posted. HOLY COW, the articulation of that head and the speed at which those servoes move is stunning.

Looks like they have some preprogrammed moves in him too....pretty freakin nice. I see the price tag going up and up on this bad boy...

I have the U Command Wall-E scheduled to arrive tomorrow. Its a remote scaled down Ultimate Wall-E figure. Will be going for the ultimate as well when it comes out. That also has the programmed moves and features similar to the Remote R2 unit. This looks much better with the number of servos and features on it. Love that the eyes can actually blink on the ultimate Wall-E.

I have seen the Disney Full scale one being programmed from a lap top pc. They had preprogrammed voice commands and responses for the Disney walk about ones in the works. They have quite a bit of pre-programmed functions in those machines. :)

Saw that at TRU yesterday. I already have the InterAction one tho, and its only slightly bigger, so im gonna wait for the Ultimate.

Man watching that video its amazing the movement they have in the hands and fingers, no idea how they did that stuff, i dont know anything about robotics. I could probably build something that moves back and forth, but that thing is crazy.

The U Command unit is ok. It has a joystick with two movement capability. Forward moves it forward while pulling back turns the unit. The control is not that fine so you have a hard time really controlling the direction on it. It has four buttons for turning it but again, all of them are not that accurate so that it is more of a dance move than finely turning it to a specific direction. It has some really powerful motors for the tread gear that really moves it. The unit is loud though when its moving, so loud you can't hear another person speaking from across a small room when its moving. The eyes light up blue when the unit is in motion. It is so fast that its almost possible to tip it over backwards just jumping into forward movement. And with that poor balance, it does tip over easily. It does have a dance mode, but again about 50 percent of the time it tips over doing this. The instructions note that you need to keep the arms facing forward to avoid this, but... still tips over backwards. Might end up using lead golfers tape on the front bottom to over come this issue.
Has some sound effects, nice but I wish they could have used more of the ones from the trailers than what is on this one. More mechanical sounds than Wall-E speaking which is a little disappointing. The eyes do move up and down when the sound system is going.
Its a nice looking piece, has enough pep to chase the cat around the house, but the sound will be more of an issue than the charging Wall-E unit to your cat. So, a great as a small cheaper alternative to the Ultimate piece, but if you are looking for the best Remote Wall-E, I would wait it out for the ultimate Wall-E, hopefully they will have smoothed out the issues this one has.

To note, the kids loved playing with this Wall-E toy. Played with it quite a bit. Dad was only allowed to observe, so it seems to be a hit with all the kids.

Hey Scot, that is looking incredibly awesome. Is this the fresh, no head out, straight form the factory Wall-E?

Not to derail, but just to get this in your hands, heres a great clip where the Disney Animitronic Wall-E appears on a morning show, a really good chance to see him move. They show off a ton f his preprogrammed moves, which was a good thing for Disney in the park LOL

Yeah, I started out with an ambitious idea of having him mobile but that was back in October.

As we were hashing out drawings on the WALL-E Builders Group http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/wallebuilders/ time started slipping away.

I was intending on having his eye peek out and his body shake but then I was layed off because of the American Axil Strike.
Money got too tight to make those items a reality.

I'm headed back to work today so I am glad I got him finished.

He may be showing up at theaters in the Dayton, Ohio area very soon.
