Full Scale WALL-E Build

Outstanding. Is the "club" different than the "group"?

I'm sorry its taken so long to add an update to this thread but here it is.

I added the bumpers to the front corners and the front panel thanks to Michael Davis.
The panel turned out 1000 times better than I thought it would.

I think he's looking better every day.
This week I will be working on the rear bumpers and finishing the rear detail.
Hopefully I will be priming and painting within the next week or two.

Yes it is.

First the WALL-E Builders Yahoo Group is thought of as both a club and a group.
The banner I use was made by Michael McMaster and Dave Buckley.
There wasn't room enough to stick Group under WALL-E so they chose the word club there.

The WALL-E Builders Yahoo Group was founded by myself and several of the original R2 Builders on October 8, 2007.
It spun off of a thread I started on the R2 Builders Yahoo Group.

The google group was founded Oct 9, 2007 by Jawa Lunk.

Content on both groups are different as well as activity.

We may not have as many members on the Yahoo Group but we have made great progress toward drawings to help those who want to scratch build their own WALL-E.

Dave Buckley (RAMJET) is taking drawings we have produced from screen captures and is rendering them into detailed drawings that are being posted to the Yahoo Group.

The drawings right now are not 100% accurate because of the limited information avalible for WALL-E but once the movie comes out we hope to refine our drawings to be complete.

We have 2 URL's for a website like www.astromech.net the first one was a redirect site to the Yahoo Group http://www.wallebuilders.com and we are building a site on http://www.wallebuilders.org until we can find a way to use the .com without causing issues with the owners account.

oh man, i wonder how much those cost to build, the movement is crazy. I wonder if they are preprogrammed of will have rc controllers walking around watching them.

Those might be worth venturing to Disney finally, so far ive managed to stay away from that place :p

Btw, i picked up a few wall-e toys yesterday, including a pretty detailed interaction toy, if you need any reference pics, like the under or backside or the buttons across the top, let me know. The coolest little detail is that every round pice inside the treds, the wheel parts, have little BuynLarge logos on them.

Where did you find the toys?

ToysRUs. They had small figured, movie scenes, deluxe figures, Interaction Wall-e, and weird Wall-e grabber arms, like those things old people use to reach the top shelf :lol

man he just looks so big in that video, compared to the trailers. for scale, the shot where hes holding the ring box. Is that theater display thats been seen oversized or accurate?

Here's another video update of my WALL-E Build.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j01f52eJ-WE

I need to make a new set of hands, another arm plate and the interior details to the rear detail and I can start painting him up.

I'm debating on damage and weathering.
He may look like a new WALL-E since we are not 700 years in the future.

I saw a huge ad for Wall-E this morning, and inside both eyes there's text that says something like:

BnL ??? 4-10.8mm

I didn't have time to make out the three letters after BnL, but if this is already known info, let me know... otherwise I'll keep an eye out for his eye. :p

Yes, it has the f-stop info on it.

I had many people ask for the plans I used to make my WALL-E and while I was building him I found a few things that needed changed before I posted them to the Original WALL-E Builders.

The file isn't perfect but there is enough information to make a great scratch built WALL-E.

I can't make pdf files so anyone who wants a copy needs to have a .dwg .dfx viewer.

One thing people need to keep in mind is that once better information is out there the file will change.

We are in the process of converting the file into something more professional but since so many people asked me for drawings I felt something was better than nothing.

If you would like the file feel free to join the fun here:

And the file is located here:
