Once I saw this wall panel in Luthen's ship I immediately knew what they used to build it so I took it upon myself to re-create it as accurately as possible.
It started as 3 MTM .30 caliber ammo boxes. The lids were removed and the top 3/4" of the box was sliced off and re- attached to the lids.
Finding the correct sized handles with the correct center- to-center hole placement was a challenge and then I had to add sleeves to the lower portion of the handles. The handle diameter was 5/16" and then I made sleeves from 3/8" diameter tubing which were then sleeved with 7/16" tubing and it was all force fit together. One inside the other inside the other.
For the center panel ribbed material I used 3D printed scale model corrugated roofing.
Tons of sanding & filling to remove logos etc. and probably 5 layers of different color paint & grime.
Attaching the 3 pieces together was also a difficult undertaking but I figured it out and it's rock solid.
