That's awesome soul lol! Where did you get these made?? Hey so you notice the difference between original 98 op523 and the 2008 release? :cool The 2000 and 2008 frames were made the same. The 1998 were different in many ways. The 1998 were of course the frames used in the film

The size. The metal used. Different hinge. Slight difference in size and I think a tiny difference in the curvature of the metal. You gotta look at them Carefully

I'm not sure exactly, I think the new ones were bigger vertically and the old ones were longer horizontally. Go on the auction site and speak to those guys who still have the authentic 98 frames. They know everything about the op523. It's common knowledge the frame slightly changed shape. It's obvious when you see them. Just look at soul's display case. I also think the piece that attaches the temples was placed differently on the frames.

The actual size of the lenses and frames are the same. I have a 1998 edition and a 2009 edition. The difference that you perceive is a result of the 2009 edition's bridge, which is more curved than the 1998 edition. This results in the frame and lenses wrapping around the face, thus making the 2009 edition look smaller in width.

By the way AJ, thanks for doing the legwork to find the exact Fight Club lenses! I just sent my frames in last week to have them fitted with the movie lenses. I'm so excited. Did you ask if they have the files on the Aero and Sunset lenses?

The actual size of the lenses and frames are the same. I have a 1998 edition and a 2009 edition. Also the hinges are different, 5 prong vs 3 prong. The finish isn't the same either. Original release has a bit more of a shine, but not as shiny as the pss.

For years it's been known they don't have the files for the aero and sunsets. Thanks Day. Now I got it. It's not the actual size that makes the difference, it's the shape and how they fit on the face. Yea it's a shiny dull finish, not like the pss. So basically since the renditions curved, they will never appear the way they did in the film. Flat square and wide on the face

I special ordered the lenses from the OP boutique shop in LA. Yeah, the original release are really something special.

I was always very pissed off that the very long anticipated rerelease frame was not identical to the originals. Didn't fit the same. That sucked.

Same measurements, different shape and appearance. Appear different when wearing them then the originals did. As daywalker and soul will confirm, they also fit more comfortable. As least that's what I remember

Yeah I asked how the shape and fit was. And if it looked different on the face. Like I said he simply replied measurements: 62mm

Oh well. He's probably tired of answering questions. I'm sure day and soul will help you out. Aj, look at soul's display case pic and look at how the temple guards are different. The 98 curve slightly at the end and the 2000 and 2008 curve way down. That's just one difference.

I think Allen from the Malibu OP referred to it as contouring. The 2009 version wraps around the face and thus appears less wide.
